When are we going to get ML 4 in Canada? ~ in regular retail of course.

Not soon.  Walmart here in Winnipeg just jumped in with both feet and ML 3 ::)  It is a fabulous assortment, but the collector shops and TRU have both had it for months.  Still, it's better than Zellers which seems to have purchased all remaining stock of ML 2 :-\

I'll have a spare beast and Gambit if anyone wants them.

If you can, don't even bother buying them here.  The regular price at TRU is $14.99 which is no better than comic shops.  In the US, these things are around $7 US or so - about ten bucks.  Not to mention the lesser tax rate, etc.

That is if you don't live too far from the border.  Run down and buy them all (except maybe Elektra) at once.

Silver Snail often has a bunch.  But best to call them before going to see what they have in stock.

Or wait till the big toy show.  And make an offer on a huge lot there.

we do have some in stock and always get in the new waves of them as they come out.  Can't say we have 12 right now but the box sets are out very soon now and if you bought both of them, that would give you 9 of them.

Any ETA for the X-men set?  You can feel free to mark me down for one.  Nice work too so as not to tick off collectors with the figs already (read me).  No mask wolverine, but different head sculpt from chase piece.  New Magneto head sculpt.  New pleather ::) coat for Gambit.  Lab coat for beast :-*

Pleather?  Nothing wrong with pleather, women look good in it.  And after all, Remy is really just a woman :P

What's wrong with Magneto?  I already have one, so he's one I really don't need but why would he be problematic?

Well i dont think the expression is one of intensity or anger, more like hes taking a crunch. Pardon the language. Also there are no cool backgrounds for thme in the 4 pack altho they have like a X men symbol stand instead. Thnakfully i havent used the backgrounds for the other marvel legends as iam creating a custom city back drop for when i move. That way i can hang my spidey from the top along with daredevil and any other figs that fly, or swing or whatever. But ya no backdrops may piss a few off.

Well, I found mine today, so I know what you mean about Magneto.  That and the first one I picked up had Wolvie's claws all mangled.

But the weirdest thing in the next box I picked up was the Magneto fig, which had a head totally different from the others.  Beard, helmet didn't quite fit and longer hair.  I thought somebody might be playing a trick, but these weren't out on the weekend, so they would have had to be pretty fast and terribly efficient to get it in and out without any damage.  The twist ties are tight and clean, no damage to the box or the plastic and there are no tears on the box where the tape is.  It's a heck of a good job or an error/variant, the latter of which I have never heard.

Has anyone heard of a variant Magneto in the X-men boxed set?

More Spidey villains is very good news. I wonder of the Sinister 6 pack will include the same figures as the ones they're releasing as singles?

Not enough villains in the Marvel Legends assortments. Very disappointing. Im not a completist with these, so I'm really looking forward to a few - Dr. Strange should make a beautiful figure in this line, same with Ultimate Cap.

Title: ML DoomBot Question
Post by: richkulach on March 31, 2004, 02:37:55 AM
OK, I guess this is mainly for guys who have found this fig, or just a fan of the series, but I have a question for you.

I have been very fortunate and have found 2 DoomBots in the last 3 days here, but they are diffferent from each other.   :-*

The first one I found is on a trilogo card, and is from asst# 40035, has the gold poster background, and the has a dull/flat dark green cape.

The second is also trilogo, asst# 70150, has the comic instead of the poster, and the thing that gets me, is he has a glossy darker green/black cape.

I am just wondering if these are a significant difference, or just dumb luck.  I was thinking of selling one on eBay, but a buddy from work wants one, so he is getting one for cheap, just don't know which one to give him.  I am leaning towards keeping the one with the comic, just cuz it matches my Yellow Daredevil,  :-X but thats it so far.

Any info would be great guys.  Thanks.

Rich

Post by: Morgbug on March 31, 2004, 03:53:26 PM
LOL, I found both of those versions last week Rich.  Good old Zellers neglected to mark down which series they wanted, so it looks like the wearhouse unloaded all the series 2 on them.  That ought to kill the line at Zellers.  Worse, they'll never know why.  It was ML5 that sold out in days, now each store around here has 20 Thing, 15 Namor and a smattering of Torch and Doom, who always sells.

Value wise, the comic is the better of the two.  I sold mine for $40 US :o  I kept the poster version, because it really didn't matter to me which I had, so long as I had it.  Now if only I could find a no mask wolvie ;)

BTW, my loose, regular Doom has the flat green cape.

Any more yellow DDs out that way ;)

Good luck, Brew, I've flipped more pegs of Thing and Torch looking for that bloody Doombot. Doom sells well enough, but that Doombot wasn't even one per case. I can't believe Ghost Rider doesn't sit on the pegs, talk about a lame character.......  ::)
Title: Re:ML DoomBot Question

Ghost Rider was a very cool or hot character in the 90's.

But things change, and he doesn't have as much draw anymore.  He doesn't sit at the pegs since he is in slightly lesser quantities than Wolverine and Daredevil, and still looks cool.

Doombot?  Are more of these showing up?  I picked one up way back when Zellers first received ML2 - probably before last summer.  Wouldn't mind a comic version...

Yup, lots more ML II.  I think they just weren't careful enough marking the order form.  Oops.  Few cases of ML V sold like hotcakes, they re-ordered.   ???

Not in my recollection, but I guess we all like different stuff. His series' have failed at least 3 times, the latest of which was a lukewarm 6 issue limited series under the Marvel Knights banner pencilled by Trent Kaniuga. Even with all that going for it - it still sucked. The only half interesting thing about this character is the design. Of all my beloved Marvel's creations, ManThing and Ghost Rider are the most inept.... I can't believe they warranted their own books at any point. God awful.

Totally wrong.

Ghost Rider's second series (the first being the one in the late 70's) started off very well.  Top of the chart stuff.   Not that I buy into anything that Wizard magazine says, but he made the top 10 character lists in the early going.

I couldn't wait for the next issues to come out.  Great mood and atmosphere - coloured panels on black paper rather than white.   Lasted this way for about first 15-20 issues.  Then started to fall apart.  Had some talented artists on there for a while, but couldn't quite recapture the initial feel of those early books.  Great character design, good sense of mystery and drama.  Excellent.

Don't believe me?  Grab the first 10 issues or so.  They are probably pretty cheap right now.  And see for yourself. I don't know what is up with GR these days, but those early days of the flaming skull and motorcycle were just grand.
Title: Marvel Figures - Any Chase finds?
Post by: jjreason on June 08, 2004, 01:45:34 PM
Every time I see a new case of MLIV at WalMart (which has been very often over the past few months) or Zellers (which got IV and V at the same time, along with a bunch more from series II) I flip through them looking for Goliath, Red Skull or the Doombot. I've never seen them here, and I'm quite certain I'm getting there right when the figures are hitting the floor.

I've managed to find all the Spider-Man villains, but so far have passed on Morbius, Kraven and Carnage numerous times. I've never seen the single carded Daredevil from the Kraven run, however. Has anyone else?

Has anyone found any of the chase figures at retail up here? Just checking to see if my searching is at all worth the time. If we're not getting them, I won't bother.
Title: Re:ML DoomBot Question
Post by: jjreason on June 08, 2004, 01:51:32 PM
Different strokes, I guess. I've always shunned the "horror"-ish side of Marvel (Son of Satan, GR, Man-Thing, even Dr. Strange though that was a little closer to the Superhero genre), never really appealed to me. I honestly can't recall a time where anyone I ever knew throughout my collecting bought this title, or even spoke about in a positive manner - which is what I based my statement on. I remember us (my brother and I, and 3 collecting friends back in grade school) groaning when Spidey was teamed up with GR one month, and then Man-Thing either the next or shortly thereafter.

I saw a Golith at my Wal-Mart here in Brantford once, but I didn't buy it because I didn't know that it was worth $60.00!!! at the time. I also don't collect the line, except the odd figure, and Golith isn't exactly one of my favorite super heros. Oh well what can you do.

My Wally World also had a bunch of Magneto's I thought he was hard to find aswell. If I see one again I'll definitly pick him up, and I'll sell him to one of you guys for a decent price. What other figures are rare in the line?

doombot
Magneto
Golith...  Those I already know.
Title: Re:Marvel Figures - Any Chase finds?
Post by: Morgbug on June 08, 2004, 05:13:48 PM
Nooooooooooo, Magneto is common as dirt.  Don't waste your gas on that figure.  The chase figures thus far from Marvel Legends have been:

I - Gold Ironman
II - Doombot
III - maskless Wolverine
IV -  Goliath
V -  Red Skull

There have been rumours that other figures are 'short-packed'.  This is true in the sense that there may only be one per case, as with Elektra.  Early US cases were short on Blade but they are now three per case.

To answer jj's question, yes, I have found chase up here.  I've not heard of anyone in Canada finding Red Skull or Goliath, but Doombot's have been plentiful in a manner of speaking.  I managed to find a couple as did richkulach in Regina.  Sadly, that meant both Winnipeg and Regina restocked with ML II rather than getting in more ML IV and V.  You cannot begin to imagine how many Thing, Human Torch and Namor figures are lying around in Winnipeg.  It's fairly obscene.

I cannot say that Goliath hasn't been found, my timing isn't good for Walmarts.  They tend to stock overnight and the hot wheels guys tend to pick them up shortly after 7 am.  We've seen hardly any series V.  No mask wolverine being the rarest of them all.

That said, Toybiz is randomly packing in old chase pieces into the ML VI cases.  I'm hoping we skip ahead to those, but only Walmart or TRU will end up having those, Zellers is sooooooooo full of series II :'(
Title: Re:Marvel Figures - Any Chase finds?
Post by: jjreason on June 08, 2004, 05:18:59 PM
There are a few other "variant" figures as well:

Iron Man in blue stealth armor, Thing in trenchcoat, Hulk with ripped white shirt. I've seen that Hulk up here, but that was ages ago and I passed.

2 boxed sets have been released (Urban Legends and X-Men) both of which included variant figures and/or a figure unavailable on single card. There is supposed to be at least one more boxed set due this year - a Spidey Villain "Sinister Six" set from what I understand.

Title: Re:Marvel Figures - Any Chase finds?
Post by: Morgbug on June 08, 2004, 11:03:48 PM
Mmm, variants yes, but not chase figures.

Marvel Legends X-men box set:
Magneto has a new head sculpt.
Beast has a white lab coat.
Gambit has a pleather coat instead of plastic
Wolverine comes without a mask, but different head sculpt from the series III chase figure
Rogue - only place you can get her.

Urban Legends box set:
repaint of Daredevil from spiderman classics line
repaint of one of the spidey figs
Elektra is in white, rather than the regular red release
Punisher has a different weapon

Sinister Six box is due out soon and there is also a Fantastic Four box set that has new sculpts of the Torch, Thing and Mr. Fantastic.  Only source for Invisible Woman, H.E.R.B.I.E and Franklin.  Doom has a new face sculpt.

Those other variants you mention were regular releases during series two in the US.  I can't remember, but initially they were store exclusives but as time passed they started showing up elsewhere.  They were not hard to find and people picked them up easily for me.  They were not found in Canada to the best of my knowledge.  At least other than the Hulk you mention.

BTW, I've seen Kraven and Daredevil as well, but only at TRU.  The paint routinely sucked on every one I saw, so passed on it.  I think the Urban Legends version looks nicer and it is the same sculpt.  None of the HTF figs last more than a day at retail around here except Hobgoblin and that's on a beat up card.
Title: Re:Marvel Figures - Any Chase finds?
Post by: jjreason on June 09, 2004, 01:02:32 AM
I had wondered if that DD was the same figure as the one from the ML boxed set. The colour is the only difference. I guess I'll keep flipping them then, I spent about 10 minutes in a KB store down in the US pawing through at least 10 cases of MLIV just hoping for one Goliath. Of course I got skunked.

Is that FF set available yet? I though Sue was going to be available in MLVI?  ??? Do which know which figures are going to be included in that wave?

Got a Marvel Legends 6 Juggernaut at BHT in Hamilton today.  He's huge.  Very cool looking figures.  I'll probably grab the brown costume Wolverine and a Phoenix(if I can find one-she and Deadpool are one each per case).  Toy Biz is still setting the bar for every other toy company with these badboys.

I love them as well, with any luck we'll see wave 6 at regular retail sometime soon. Phoenix is one of my favorite characters so I'd like to score one of those as well. Won't hold my breath to get the chase Dark Phoenix - but we all have to dream, right?

Why is Deadpool short-packed?
 :o

I need at least two.

I don't care if they were as common as Movie Daredevil.  I want my Wade Wilson (and Doop...)

Here's the case breakdown guys:

1 Phoenix
1 Deadpool
2 Cables
2 Juggernauts
3 Wolverines
3 Punishers (Movie Edition).

In my opinion the case should of been done like so:

2 Phoenix
2 Deadpools
2 Cables
2 Juggernauts
2 Wolverines
2 Punishers.

Why oh why can't Toy Biz do simple math?
WTF makes them think Punisher is going to be the 'hot' figure that everyone wants?!
The movie bombed - so will the toy.

Regardless, we're fresh out (for now) of all but a few Cables, Wolvies and Punishers.

Thanks for the assortment Mike.  Couldn't agree more with you about the way it should be done, though I think packing the female figure 1 per case is due to historically crappy sales of female figures.  Weird that Phoenix reg and chase will both be tough finds.

The movie punisher is ridiculous, there is quite frankly no need for it at all.  As you indicated, the movie more or less bombed and they just had Punisher in a box set and in a recent series.  I guess it can sit on the pegs here along side of the Beast and the other Punisher figs that seem to be going absolutely no where.

At least they got two juggernauts in the box.

Be nice if they showed up here at retail, our TRU and Walmart have never even restocked on wave 5. Sadly, I'll have to resort to ebay to get a cheap Sabretooth, should have bought the one that sat at our TRU for a couple of months but someone broke down before I did.  ;D

One out of 8 cases is the collector case which includes

1 x Dark Phoenix
1 x Brown Cable
1 x Unmasked Woilverine

For the Fantastic Four box sets, one case out of 5 includes

2 x Fantastic Four Chase pack with a translucid Johnny Storm & a transparant Invisible Woman.

Too bad that the case mix sucks on ML6, but that's nothing new. Anybody remembers the 5 per case Movie daredevil,..did we really need that many Ben Affleck???

I found all 6 figure from this assortment at Zellers in North Bay, Ontario last night. There was one Phoenix, Juggernaut and Deadpool, a couple Cables and a few of each Wolverine and Punisher. I don't collect these but I picked up the Deadpool figure for a friend in the US as he told me it is HTF down there. Cost on these is $12.97 plus tax. Now only if they'd get some VOTC!

Damn I really need to pay more attention to this line. I only collect the odd figure that I like, and don't know to much about the line. I already saw a Golith at my local wal-mart and didn't buy it becuse I didn't know the value. And just the other day I was at Sears and they had Deadpool, and pheonix and I passed because I didn't know that they were rare too. The only figure I'm interested in right now is brown Wolverine, and the rare ones becuase they are good trade bait.

I picked both up but the red Phoenix is already spoken for (Morgbug's :)) So all I have left to offer is a brown Cable and Deadpool.

hey a fellow ml8 collector.
i haven't picked up cap yet. money's tight. but i plan on getting him soon.  are u planning on p/u any of the others from series 8. doc oc and storm look good....and even though i don't know a darn thing about man-thing....the scuplt looks great.  Ironman's mask looks funny but  overall i think he's cool.
Title: Re:Marvel Legends 8--Ultimate Captain America
Post by: Valfar on January 26, 2005, 08:48:11 PM
Well, the same day i picked up Capt. America, i also picked up the sinister 6 box set..mainly because it was more figures for a decent price rather then buying most of series 8 ML  i wanted, Doc Ock ML8 looks great, better then the crap that came with sinister 6 set, and i was drawn into iceman but, there is something about him..can't buy him..maybe its the base and the plain detail this character has, Black widow's neck looks horrid..Man-Thing...meh, Iron Man looked decent, storm is apparently a new sculpt i think..she was worth buying..just i had limited funds lol...i still have to go get Colosus, he looks great, and i have to find that mcfarlane SMC 12 Spiderman...it looks to be the best spiderman figure ever.

I picked up the ML Iceman for my son but
it was more for me to see wim open than
for him to play with...
I can't bring myself to open a figure.

I think he is a great looking figure but he
CAN'T be posed the way he is shown on
the package- both hands WILL NOT
go into the "ice blasts" at the same time.

As for Storm- again another favorite but
her head looks way too small

I spotted a few of these guys at Superstore yesterday... less than $12 was a good price, I guess.

The paint on the Cap that was there was just horrible... looked like 'badly-disfigured Cap' to me. Had to pass on him. :(

Iceman looked odd, so I passed on him too.  I wanted to see what Black Widow looked like, but there were none left.  Is there an alternate version of her in the wave?
Title: Re:Marvel Legends 8--Ultimate Captain America
Post by: Morgbug on January 31, 2005, 03:27:29 PM
Regular Black Widow has red hair, chase version has blonde hair.  The figure is ok, but it suffers from ML-weird-female-neck articulation syndrome.  Just have to live with it, I guess.

Anyone have a spare Ghost Rider chase (phasing) to trade?  I've got a doombot and a no-mask Wolverine (series VI) to offer up, one for one.
Title: Re:Marvel Legends 8--Ultimate Captain America
Post by: Valfar on February 02, 2005, 10:33:23 PM
Ok so i apparently i do not have the "corrected" ML8 captain america...they messed up the color with the reg and the chase figure, the chase figure has the correct grey on the thighs and under the arms(which was mean't for the regular figure) and the standard blue paint was mean't for the chase with the wings on the mask, they apparently corrected this and i will buy the corrected version when i see it, this way it does make it even more acurate to the comic.

yeah i can't wait for ml8 to hit retail here in toronto....but knowing them it may take awhile....and when it does it's going to be tough looking for a storm and or black widow....then again i can spend about 20$ + to get them now......
can't wait for ml9 and galactus!!

Ok so i went around Scarborough looking for ROTS figures and instead i find a restock of Marvel Legends 6 at Walmart in Scarborough town center, they had 2 deadpool(i bought one of them) cable and brown cable variant,a few juggernauts and movie punishers meh..and alot of brown wolverines.no phoenix..anyone think i should open deadpool?..or is this figure worth more?
Title: Re:Marvel Legends 6
Post by: Morgbug on February 25, 2005, 12:03:03 AM
It might be worth more down the road, but not a lot I don't think.  Regular figures settle out pretty quickly in this line it seems, unless you're willing to keep him carded for quite a while.  I sold all the ones that I picked up for cost and now I don't have one.  No big deal though, I'll find one in time.  Doop bugs me.   :P

Eagerly looking forward to series nine and not missing anything current really that I want.  Phasing ghost rider is the exception ::) and I'd unload my regular vision for a phasing version.  Yes, I open my chase figures.

These are sitting on my cabinet that I keep spare Star Wars stuff in.  I'm out of room now, so lots not on display like Hawkeye, Apocalypse and the Sinister Six set.  Sorry for the glare.

Sinister Six Box Set
Urban Legends Box Set
Modern Iron Man
Ultimate Captain America (error version)
Beast
Gambit
Storm
Juggernaut
Apocalpse
Wolverine (brown costume)
Dr.Doom
Deadpool
Blade

I can't wait for ML 10 Sentinel Line, Mr.Sinister looks really cool..actually i want all of both 9 and 10 lines.

Nice pick Morgbug  ;)

Thanks.  You might have something to do with one or two of those figures.  The first one is pretty obvious, can you see the second?

Coming in late on these things would be a great way to do it.  You might pay more for some early versions, but you won't be like me and end up with multiples of figures you don't like.  Well, I like the second version more, leaving me with spare first versions.  That's a pain.

I need more space.  Series 9/10 and all the stuff I don't have on display.  I'd like to split off the spiderman stuff onto a shelf and keep the rest of the Marvel folks together.  Even then, I'll need a lot more room.

I found Deadpool and juggernaut last week at walmart..and yesterday Phoenix, ok i have Iceman and i did get both his hands into his ice blast, just make sure he is crouching and have his shoulder joints extented forward, i also recently picked up storm and blade, storm is a great figure with very good detail, i like her cape, its like a soft rubber that has some give to it and her paint job is great, Blade i was surprised to find, he has dead on likeness to wesley snipes and comes with a bike, a gun that does not fit in his hand, sword, trenchcoat, and throwing blade thingy.

Walmart here continues to restock wave 6 and they also seem to be getting a particularly hideous case that has only Wolverine, Punisher and Cable in it :'(

No sign of series 9.  Series 8 blew out pretty quick, can find maybe an ironman or Cap around, but that's it.

Victoria, BC is really good for legends.  Walmart sucks but everything else is really good.  I even found a Dark Phoenix in Zellers a few months ago.  You can find just about every figure for < $20 (even Vision and Hawkeye).

Personally, I have given up on toy runs.  I just buy from the comic stores downtown.  I'm willing to pay $14-$20 per figure rather than go to Walmart.  Mind you, you have to pay through the nose for variants/chase figs.

hey guys, great to hear from fellow collectors.  this line seems to get better and better....i hyped over ml9 too...but i hear that it's not going to be out in canada till at least next  week.

i pretty much collect everyone, and i got lucky with ml8 finding all the figures at retail prices.  However vision is another story, i'm sure i'm going to have to pay comic prices for the guy.

NW Calgary TRU had a whole case of Series 8 out late last night. Nothing as far as variants go, but they had multiples of everyone else except for Black Widow (bought the one they had). $12.99 each.

Yesterday I saw all of series 9 at TRU. I was looking on the back and noticed the pic zooms in on Bullseye showing variant of face. My question is, is it included or what?

One of the Bullseye figures is the chase piece, the one with the teeth, I think.

This wave dropped on me when I wasn't expecting it. Right in the middle
blowing $300 on SW stuff, I have to go and spend another $50 MLIX.
Didn't we just get wave 8 like a month ago?

The good news is - the Galactus parts are awesome! I can't wait to get
the other figures from this line (even Deathlok - though he might find a
spot in with my LOTR figures which aren't on display right now) so that
I can finish him off.

Saw variants at TRU for the first time today.  They had the green Hulk(complete with angry teeth) and crazy grin  grey Bullseye.  I already have a regular set so I left these for the next person.

Yup it is, as it sells in comic shops for 60, also, its a variant period, and it is only 5 bucsk higher then a normal hulk...so again... yes it is.

I think what's happening with these currently (and Legends can correct me if I'm wrong) is that there's one particular case that will ship with ALL the variants in it. Not just one or two, but the whole waves' worth of them. On most cases the store would get skunked, but one in however many gets them all. This seemed to be a common pattern when the Dark Phoenix and Brown Cable figures were being found anyhow.
Title: Re:Official Marvel Legends thread
Post by: Morgbug on June 19, 2005, 12:38:49 AM
Of late this is correct.  ML 6 with Phoenix red, brown Cable and no mask Wolverine they were all shipped in one case.  Same for the phasing Vision wave, same now for the green Hulk.
Title: Re:Official Marvel Legends thread
Post by: Steve@Legends on June 19, 2005, 07:42:50 AM
Yep that's the way they ship variant, they are all in the same case.
Depending on the series, you'll get one case of variant for every 5 or 7 or 10 cases that you order. (They change that from series to series.) Anyway, that's the way it works for accounts like ours. I can't speak for major retailers though, it seems to be different for them cause not many stores order that many cases.

ML 10 should be here in a few weeks...can't wait!!!

I'm excited too, but I have a bit more reservation about this wave than I did about wave 9. There was no doubt that I was going to get one of each, just to assemble Galactus. Luckily enough I was really happy with all of the figures except Deathlok (terrible character, nowhere close to a Legend in my eyes, and he's rubbier than all getout AND he won't stand up in any action poses AND he doesn't hold his gun very well).

As far as Legends go, I'm pretty much a "Silver Age Only" type - if they didn't first appear in a comic with a 12cent cover price, they should be in another line.

That in itself explains why I'm not too jacked up for wave 10. The Sentinel would be nice - but I'm going to have to see some of these figures in person before laying out the cash. Here's the lineup:

1. Angel (variant=blue version) - fine with me
2. Black Panther - finally!
3. Silver Age Cyclops (variant = 2nd head) - fine again
4. Mr. Sinister - we'll see about this one
5. Mystique - likely, but not for sure
6. Omega Red - as above
7.  Appearance Spider-Man - again, we'll see as I already have a Ditko era Spider-Man Classics Spidey that I love.

Also, there will be 2 Sentinels per 12 figures case. The Sentinel breaks into 6 pieces, the same leg is packed in with Mystique and Mr. Sinister (I think, maybe Omega Red though), which will be "one per case" figures. The rest will be 2 per case.

I don't know of any other variants coming beside the Cyclops and Angel - and I'm hoping that the duplicate right legs will be different somehow - one with battle damage would be nice.

Title: Re:Official Marvel Legends thread

Galactus' first appearance was in Fantastic Four #48 (much like Wolverine's first app, his was a one-page wonder. The very last page of 48. First full story would follow in 49), way back in 1966.

The "trilogy" of issues 48,49 and 50 introducted both the Silver Surfer (originally a Herald - or servant - of Galactus) and Galactus himself to Marvel fans. This story is ranked right up there by Silver Age Marvel fans as one of the greatest of "The Marvel Age".

I'll go find some scans of the covers so that you can have a look.

Here's 48:

I wish Toybiz would make some statement about ML10's release, instead of just "delayed". I've seen so many release dates that expand the next few months it's hard to know when to expect them. Ok so I've just gotten into ML and I may be over reacting somewhat (I do have patience), and as a mostly X-men collector (when it comes to Marvel, anyway) I am looking forward to this wave.  The only good thing I see, is that this does gives me a chance to catch up on some older series I've missed.

Originally it was suggested there'd be a black panther chase piece.  Since toybiz has failed to confirm that most people now assume their won't be.  Many sites never updated or choose to wait and see.  The lack of pictures is a pretty good indication there won't be.

Considering Black Panther was named as a Marvel Legend on the backs of the Series I packages (never shown as a pic, mind you, but if you read the blurb about the series itself, he's mentioned with a "!" behind his name) it's about bloody time he got his damned figure.

Oh, and it better be wicked. I'm hoping for the caped version with the golden accessories as per the more modern Marvel Knights version.

Found the Galactus Wave at WalMart today of all placed. No comics in the packages, rather the foil posters that they've had all along. Each figure was there, but there were no variants. 10.92 each.

blink is correct.  Archangel was made in the X-men classics line that was really short lived.  Only about 4-8 figures made in the whole line: Archangel, Cyclops, Wolverine and someone else, Gambit maybe?   I don't remember, but I was fortunate enough to get the figure.  If my picture of part of my collection is still around, he's in the back left of the pic.

You can just check ebay for it too.  Not sure how many are on line, but it's never been in huge demand.

Man, those X-Men figures were PLAGUED with lousy action features. I ran into a bunch of them at Target a long time ago - and they looked too crappy to buy.

Is the Angel variant a blue uniform, or blue skin? I'm assuming, since it's Legends, that we're getting the white feathered wings as opposed to the metal Arcangel ones?

This series was a series we didn't see in Canada, it was only available stateside.  No action features on that round at all.  I know what you're thinking of and these weren't related to the movie figures.  They were out the same time as the two series of Hulk Classics figures were out.

You can see the Archangel in this picture here: (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v643/Morgbug/P1010451.jpg)

Both of the Angel figures are pre-metal wings, Warren Worthington days.  One is X-men, one is X-Factor or something to that effect (noting so many changes along the way).

Like blink said, yes, it is in scale.  That's maybe less than half my collection.  Moving in the winter so I've started boxing stuff up.  Series IX isn't in there, so my Galactus isn't seen and obviously Series X isn't quite out yet, but that will be mine as well.  Also missing is most of series VIII and some of VII as well as the Sinister Six figures.  Just so much not even in that pic.

Found the Galactus Wave at WalMart today of all placed. No comics in the packages, rather the foil posters that they've had all along. Each figure was there, but there were no variants. 10.92 each.

It's unusual that they still contain the sticker that says it comes with a '32 page comic' but yes it is the foil poster instead.  Anyway found the Green Hulk Variant yesterday at Walmart.  Didn't really look for the Bullseye Variant, not really into the Bullseye figure.  However 10.92 is a decent price for ML.  Oh and it looked like they had put out 2 cases.

never mind i made a mistake, here is what was said

this is a copy and paste******

Jesse Falcon of Toy Biz today announed that the 13th assortment of Marvel Legend figures, will be a villian wave. The only figure confirmed for this wave is the Green Goblin, shown above. It should be noted that the figure above is a 2-up protype and is the variant version without the mask on. The regular version will be wearing a mask.

Also from yesterday, wave 12 will come with parts to build a giant apocalypse figure. The only figure confirmed for wave 12 so far is Iron Fist.

Wow! After reading all the message in this thread. I'm going to start on buying marvel legends. Too bad that I didnt start earlier enough, missed out some of my fav marvel characters. BTW I did see full pegs full of wave 9 the galactus series @ Zellers but not sure which ones were rare plus I didn't really like the characters. So I will start on wave 10, there's so much more characters that I like plus the sentinel.  :-X

What is the best price for them?
Anyone know about when the wave 10 is out in Canada?

wut ever it's the same price....i spoke to a worker at tru and they said series 10 is comming out in the next 2 weeks......toy biz realy knows how to sell,  in my opinon these are beter to collect then star wars.

1)  for 2 dollers more you get a bigger, more detailed fig, posable in evrey way, and comes with a comic.
and there easy to track down

....but i still love star wars

Spider-Man Classics/Spider-Man

(classic, not Ultimate) Rhino
Sand Man
Green Goblin
Hobgoblin
Mysterio
Kraven

Legends

Punisher
Doc Ock

Very crowded and nasty, all complimented by the battle damaged Spidey from the old Classics line.  8)

Was at zellers today, they still had all of them except the deathlok dude. Si I was debating on wheather I should start collecting from series 9 or not. After standing infront of the toys for few mins, I decided to buy them. Cause I might regret it later, which I have done with the SW toys in the past. So now I got 6 of them except for the deathlok, which I will try to find later on today. Is deathlok hard to find?

I saw a comic shop that was selling whole series 9 with 7 figures(including the 2 rares) for $99.99 not including tax. So I think it is worth it, what do you guys think? BTW I haven't open the ones that I got from Zellers, so I can refund and get the whole set.

It was more of a collectible toy store, located in Burnaby, BC.
There was another comic store in Vancouver that also sold series 9 without rares for $90.
So I'm going to refund the ones that I got now, go back to the collectible toy store and get the series 9 set with the rares.

Not rare. He was one per case, but didn't sell nearly as well as the villains from this line usually do, based on it's Manga styling (from what I've read). I personally really liked the source material upon which this figure was based (Humberto Ramos' Green Goblin art from Spectacular Spider-Man a couple of years ago), but I was in the minority.

There is a much, much more "realistic" looking GG set for release as part of an upcoming ML wave, I'd wait for that figure before I bought this one.

Having another look at it, the ends of the tentacles are sharp. They are neat though, you can pose each finger of the tentacles - they can be spread right out like open hands or closed up to make points.

It is already being found in US Walmarts.  If it comes here, like all the other stuff it will be delayed by a couple of months at the least.  The timing's not too bad as Walmart will start ramping up for Christmas (I hope) right around September, but we'll see.

Thanks for the link.  I could have missed it in the forums, but all I saw was one guy in the UK having it.  One guy in the US mentioned finding new stuff, but that was Justice League, not ML.  It's out in Asia as well and Diamond has shipping dates on it.  But I didn't see a ton of I found ML 10 at Target/Walmart/TRU anywhere over there.  A couple of guys have it in hand seemingly from overseas online retailers based out of Asia as well.  I knew about that over a week ago.

It's sure not going to show up here prior to that happening and by "that" I mean general US retail market.

If you're really anxious, order them from Legends, they're bound to have them sooner than regular retail outlets do.

We are currently out of stock on series 10 cause we didn't get full shipment yet, rest is coming in about 2 weeks.same goes for 11, but we have a few left that are on the website and second shipment of those will be in October.

For the best of, we still have some and they will most likely be posted on our website today.

Apparently they wanted 2 complete sentinels in each case. By adding the same piece to the two figures that are "1 per case", they can make that happen.

Saw series 10 and 11 today but only from a collectible shop. The price was $16.99 a piece, a bit too much for me so I will wait till they arrive in a retailer shop.

There are 12 figures in a case of ML. In each case, thus, are 12 Sentinel pieces. In order to get 2 complete Sentinels into each case of figures, they decided to make it a six-piece figure.

Since there are only 1 Omega Red and 1 Mystique per case, they needed to include the same Sentinel piece in their packages. In other words, every other figure is 2 per case, and thus their Sentinel pieces are also 2 per case. Copy?

Thought I'd start posting new items here too as there are so many collectors for the marvel legends stuff.  My TRU just got at least 1 case of Marvel Leg.  10.  We also got a new marvel series called superhero factory (or something like that).  a small plastic crate that has a model of a figure in it.  marked with the various groups (x-men, avengers) and also crates that have a "?" on them.  12 mystery figs.  $6.99

That's the U.S. case mix. In Canada these 2 figs (Omega Red & Mystique) are 2 per case leaving us with one each of Cyclops and Angel in the cases.

Hope this helps!

Oh, man - I think that's NOT good news..... the two figures I want first and foremost are the shortpacked ones. That means the Sentinel will be a lot harder to finish as well, as there'll be 4 lower torsos in each case. :smacksforehead:

Details are nice, but his right hand spins in the socket, so I couldn't get him to hold Angel in front of him.  That's disappointing.  Otherwise the articulation is great and most of the joints are plenty stiff.

I'll get some more pics up for you later.  Probably tonight.  Which Cyc would you like, I have both :tongue0024:

Picked up the blue Angel at Zellers.  He is the chase figure, whereas the red version is the common one.  Good luck finding the blue.  I'm curious to see if this line is as overproduced as the Galactus series was.  There's still a variant Bullseye and variant Green Hulk sitting at a Walmart around here.
Title: Re: Official Marvel Legends thread

As requested, pics of Cyclops, regular on the left, chase on the right.  I never picked up the short lived (one series, 4 figures only) X-men Classic stuff as it never got here and no one down south could find me a Cyclops.  I'm sure if you check the 'bay, you can find the third version.  The sculpt on these is not surprisingly identical.

As for the Angel figure, I never found the red version for comparison sake, but this Archangel is from the X-men series I mentioned above.  You can see the scale is pretty good.  The Archangel wings are huge in comparison, something that is a nice feature and pretty good for scale.  Unfortunately that figure has about the loosest joints of any Marvel figure I own and it won't stand on its own without support.  It's aching to be suspended and eventually I will.  Another drawback to it is the wings are extremely heavy for the plastic their made out of and tend to bend and distort.  The wings on the new Angel shouldn't have any of those problems.  They attach similar to some older Marvel (Secret Wars era) figures to articulated flanges on Angels back.  Those wings are completely solid.  I'd love to see them redo the Archangel with solid (not hinged) one piece wings that attach the same way.

we had 2 cases come in on yesterdays truck and we have 2 more trucks this week.  Depending on how many pegs your store has set up for ML and whether those pegs are full or not will dictate how fast the staff put out the product.  I'm smart enough to know that people don't want series 9 anymore and I set up 3 pegs for just for series 10.  wouldn't you know we've sold almost all of the figs that I put out.

What store are you close to, I can look up their inventory for series 10 and tell you exactly how many they have and if they've sold any.

Is ML 11 the "Legendary Riders" wave? If so, I saw a few of them at my comic store today. Logan, Wonderman and Ghost Rider, to be exact. I didn't pick any of them up, though I'll get Logan and Wonder Man when they show up at TRU or WalMart.

Hey all, My TRU did indeed get 3 cases of ML 11 "Legendary Riders" series.  Opened a couple of cases, NO SCARLET WITCH to be found.  All TRU should be getting them or have them, I would just ask someone who knows.  Remember, if they can't get a case onto the pegs, chances are they won't open one.

Generally speaking, yes, in past cases variants are either all there or none.  This was the case for the last several waves and based on the chase cyclops and angel I found it is for this wave as well.

I would have to think that is correct.  I've opened a few cases of ML9, 10 and 11 and it's either all or none.  Weird part is the last couple of cases of ML 10 and the first couple of ML 11 that we have recieved had a sticker on them identifiying them as being variant cases.

I found one case of the ML Sentinal wave today at Zellers. I'm pretty sure these only come 8 per case and there was only one chase - the blue Angel. I hid it for a friend and emailed him. If he doesn't want it is there anyone here who does? There was 2 of some figures but no Cyclops period or the girl that is pictured under him (sorry I don't collect these so I don't pay much attention to the names).
There was also a couple cases of the Galactus series with one green Hulk and I grinning Bullseye. Didn't hide them but if anyone wants them I can try to go back for them. I don't think these are as HTF as the past variants.

The case with the Variants for Series 10 are one per case- they took out the REGULAR versions of Cyclops and Angel to put in the Blue ones. There is 12 figs per case, with the Variant case being one out of four or five cases.

If anyone needs a loose Blue Cyclops, I have one in the store. (Along with the completed Sentinel standing in the front window). :-)

I've had decent luck with ML.  There's actually less that I haven't found than those I did.  What I haven't found at retail:

Mohawk Storm
Blonde Black Widow
Variant Cap
Phasing Vision
Phasing Ghost Rider

The rest I've managed to score for retail pricing.  I picked up the Phasing GR figure for a great trade, it worked out to retail price.

I sent the gold Ironman from series 1 to a friend though, so it's no longer in my collection.  And yes, all my chase figures are loose.

Like General Yoda i wouldn't pay extra for a variant especially when they're priced at $50 at snail!!  however i did pay $30 for a juggernault when it first came out (regret ever doing that now that i've seen about 10 of them at retail) but otherwise i've found a few variants including green hulk (seen about 3 and got 1), smiling bullseye (didn't get) and blue angel.  my friend did find a variant dark phoenix recently and can't stop rubbing it in my face  :mad0137:

also nice find on the pics blink  :D

The Snail got Series 12 in.. i thought they werent bad..

I though the Wolverine wasnt that great... but eh?... Bishop rocks! and the X-23 Purple figure seems to be the easy one to find.. i didnt see a Black outfit one anywhere... and the purple one sucks!! IMO...

Variants... Bishop (bald), Wolvy (no mask), and a few other I cant remember..... $49.99!!!! What a ripoff Silver Snail!!!

I found the variant Logan from the Legendary Riders series up in the overhead compartment at TRU.. and I didnt realize it was the variant.. nor did I realize it was worth a ton.... and I left it.. so I feel really stupid right now..my cousin curses my name.. he has been looking for it forever now....lol... oops.. :confused0024: Usually it is the opposite of what is on the back of the packaging that is the variant.. and the Blue guy was on the back.. and they had two green ones plus this blue o :mad0177:ne I found.. so I figured his variant (thinking it was green) wasnt that rare....

i was at a TRU yesterday and came across what i believe you saw, ML 11 wolverine - green pants instead of blue jeans, and black top instead of white tank top - there were a couple of these.  i just did a little searching and i found this:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/Marvel-Legends-Series-11-Wolverine-Variant-Figure_W0QQitemZ6014419549QQcategoryZ2483QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

which is the variant?

The ML variants have gotten a LOT more common over the past couple of waves.
I wouldn't be in any hurry to spend extra money on these until we start seeing

Well I'd hardly call your sightings normal JJ.  Around here there've been a couple of variants, but many more regulars as there should be.

I think the general trend though is for these things to be easier to find.
Title: Re: Official Marvel Legends thread
Post by: General Yoda on November 21, 2005, 12:02:57 AM
I have only ever found three variants at retail.... that Blue Jean Logan.. Green 1st appearance Hulkie and Bulleye... and the Bullseye is the easiest variant in existance to find... because it is a crap variant of a crap figure... ;) yeah I said it.....
Title: Re: Official Marvel Legends thread
Post by: cash_fan on November 21, 2005, 03:02:39 AM
To add to JJ's conception about variants being more common is quite right where we are.  We must be in a Marvel Legends variant hotspot.  I have seen the Angel & Cyclops variants twice out here (bought one set) and the regulars once.  I have seen two Wonderman variants and a Logan one.  I still see the Bullseye and Hulk pair at Walmarts.  And I don't even look for these figures.  Now if the Spider-man figure had a black costume variant I would be all over that one.

I guess they like the island.

But I don't think Hulk and Bullseye even count anymore.   I know of one Walmart where they've been sitting for 3 months straight.   :tongue0024:

You know there was a black costume spidey in the spiderman line fairly recently, right?  There was also one in series 1 of spiderman classics.  The newer one was nice (more articulation, better sculpt) than the older, pricier version.

The Wonderman variants I saw JJ were purple.  Kind of like the Phazing variants of earlier waves.

Good, good.  I was worried you missed it.  Should have known better.

I'm a lifetime collector of 'stuff'.  I never really had a stage where I grew out of toys.  But I was about 10 when I just decided to quit opening my figures (SLU specifically).  And I never really opened anything again unless I bought it deeply discounted clearance and it was in poor condition.

Electro and Vulture are from different Spiderman Box sets.

Electro was in the Sinister Six box set, out about a year ago.

Vulture is from the Fearsome Foes box set, I think that's the one that cash_fan is talking about now.  Also has Rhino, Lizard and Carnage plus another spidey figure.

the fearsome foes boxed set is
$32.95 at Walmart, $39.95 at TRU in the USA
Saw a guy at in Toy show in Canada asking $55 CND.
Not bad for 5 figures, considering they'd retail at $12.99 ea
Title: Re: Official Marvel Legends thread
Post by: jjreason on November 28, 2005, 08:24:26 PM
$55 CDN is less than cost at TRU. The price there is $49.99 - plus tax - so that's nearly $57.50. Still too much for me, I'd be sold for $10 less.

I ordered Sinister Six from Amazon a year ago, picked up the Fearsome Foes at Wally in the US back in August.

cash_fan, first I've heard of the series two, not that it means anything.  I know more than a few people that would be pleased with that series though, myself included.

Iron Fist
Astonishing Wolverine
Bishop
X-23
Sasquatch
Maestro Hulk

Well I'm going to alter my opinion slightly.  The variants for these are among the more common ML chase pieces.  Not as bad as Green Hulk/Angry Bullseye, but more readily available than most.  I've seen the chase figures three times now as well.  I have seen the regulars more frequently though.  Latest sighting was Walmart where I had hoped they would bounce forward to series 12 but it just didn't happen.

Here is the link I was referring to.

IMO it's a shame Marvel is doing this.  ToyBiz really bailed Marvel out a few years ago when they were really heading down the tube financially speaking.  In my professional opinion look for Marvel to slowly increase the price since they have full control of there figures now.  I'm not saying there will be a difference in quality (though possible) but there will be some changes.

That link is dead, so I disabled it (removed apparently at the request of Marvel's legal department). There are lo-grade pics out there, but you'll have to do some searching to find them.

I really haven't bought much from this line lately - I bought nothing from the Riders wave, and still haven't seen the Maestro/Iron Fist wave here yet at regular retail. I'm only getting those 2 and Sasquatch anyhow. Looking at the pics of the next figures, I'll get 1st App Iron Man, Luke Cage, Lady Deathstrike and likely a couple of others, but I'm not motivated by the characters enough to buy all of them just to get the big figs.

The part-time job coment meant so I could afford everything.

Here is some sort of new Marvel stuff.  12" ICON line.  30 points of articulation.  Wave 1 Captain America, Iron Man, Wolverine - wave 2 Hulk Spider-man, Venom.

I found series 12 at Zellars the other day.  All 12 figures were there, 2 of each, no chases.  Very cool looking series, too bad I ran out of $$$.

They also had the newest wave of SpiderMan figs, with the ManWolf and Venom.

Well at least it sounds like everyone is trying to deal with the loss using a sense of humour.... I'm sure they're covering up some pretty hard feelings about the whole thing. It must have been hard going to the viewing, I'm quite sure I want a closed box for myself. I've always found it too stressful seeing the deceased.

I saw them too. I have no use for the Wonderman variant - what the heck is that from, anyhow? The Scarlet Witch I picked up and looked at, but her face was SO horrendous... I just couldn't. I saw some Apocalypse wave figures at my local Zellers today. There were only a few left but one was the bald head chase of the black guy (sorry I don't know the name as I don't collect these). Bullseye has a new friend to share the pegs with at Walmart. The guy with the red riding thing. That's the last wave to hit there. If anybody wants me to look out for anything just LMK.

yo  yo
I went to Michigan last night and found the Walmart exclusive wave and also the Arch enemies Two packs and the Young Avengers box set.
I bought one of everything I found (Antman, Capt Britain, AOA Sabretooth, Thor, Hulk/Leader, DD/Kingpin, and the YA box set). Also found the Spidey Classic Hobgoblin.
The bad news is that you  need to buy 10 figures to build the Giant Man figure and the left hand can only be found in the AOA Wolverine variant figure. Sux.
The good news is that the figs are awesome. The hulk figure is the best Hulk fig ever.
Sabretooth, hobgoblin and Antman are awesome. DD and the kingpin are pretty good.
Happy hunting

true you do need at leastr varient to do the set but from what I herd both varients are in every case so it shouldn't be to hard to do.

Well I just got one of each of the onslaught set from chinook hobbies but out of there 6 cases there was no varients.  Oh well I'll track them down soon.

The only faceoff I'm considering is the Kingpin pack - but I'll have to see the figure. What's got me riled up right now is trying to track down the WalMart exclusive wave from the US - so that I can build Giant Man. I've seen them. I really like um too, unlike a lot of people who've just lost it and are already saying "Death of the Line".
I'm happy so far with what big H is doing, however I am greatly concerned with what will happen up here, with Hasbro Canada's track record not the greatest.  Are we going to see sub-par packaging?, no release of certain series? Some questions about what's going to happen with the line were answered in ToyFare, and a lot more at SDCC, but It'll be a while until mine are.

I know!  Alot of fanboys keep whining about how they look terrible and "oh, Toy Biz could've done better!".  I was under the impression that Toy Biz is in charge of the designing of sculpts for Hasbro, and big H was in charge of distribution.  Either way, I don't see how they could've done better with this first series (except for a new head on Banshee, that one just looks horrible).  I'm just impressed by Hasbro that they're keeping the Build-A-Figure concept!  I'm wondering whether they'll keep the clamshell packaging.........I've got my fingers crossed for a revamp of the packaging!

The White Queen looks terrible. Her outfit is supposed to still be Emma Frost sexy, without creating an indecent action figure - when all it looks like to me is her in granny panties. They could have easily used a white body suit and had her look better than that. The face is awful.

Banshee's face is awful.

Planet Hulk looks okay, but I'm hating the story so I'm not buying that.

Hercules' smile is so wide, he looks like he's going to eat the rest of my figures - but he might not be too bad. I have no affinity for the character though - so he's a pass, same goes for Movie Beast and Ultimate Iron Man. Enough with the Iron Man already - and I'm quite sure they did an Ultimate Version just a few waves ago (when they did Ultimate Cap).

All in all, I'm getting NONE of these, even though I might like to have the Annihilus figure.

But you have to remember, these are VERY ROUGH prototypes.  I think we'll see better versions soon, perhaps at comic con.  I'm sure these pictures were taken a few weeks ago to make it into the print.

And I like Emma (minus the head).  Come on, it's the Astonishing costume!  You gotta love Cassaday's stuff.  :D

And it was the modern Iron Man that came out with Ultimate Cap, not the Ultimate suit.  It's been said before that they have to have a heavy hitter in each series, and Iron Man is one of them.  I don't blame them....and hey, ANY ultimate figure is a plus in my book.  THere's a huge following of the Ultimate universe anyways.
Title: Re: Official Marvel Legends thread
Post by: jjreason on July 13, 2006, 04:04:34 PM
Cassaday IS the man - but that figure doesn't do his art any justice at all.

Ultimate Iron Man is fine, it's a nice armor design - but between just him and Wolverine you'd have half the collection.... and (first appearance) Iron Man is coming out again in the very next wave!!!!

LOL agreed.....I personally like the Emma figure, it's very true to the comic version, everything up to the head of course.

Honestly though, if they need to include a heavy hitter like Iron Man and/or Wolverine in each series so that we can get those characters that only fanboys like us would recognize, I don't mind.  Now, if they had ONLY Iron Man and Wolverine in a single wave, THEN I'd be really pissed!   :)

I still can't understand why there are so many people bitching over at Fwoosh boards about it though......Legends and Build-A-Figure is continuing, why all the hate?!?

I had a friend in Minnesota pick them up for me and paypal'd him for the figures and shipping.  He's in Mankato, just south of Minneapolis.  He didn't expect his Walmart to get them in, but they did so he snagged me a set.  Made my life easy and since they arrived in the US before many online retailers got them, I still had time to order even after they'd come and gone.

I hate that US only stuff though, tres frustrating.  My local comic shop was supposed to get the face off packs but got the shaft on those as well.  I picked up the Cap variant/strucker off ebay for $18 and the guy shipped them loose for only $4.  The other two sets (regular) are coming via a different guy in Minnesota.  I did actually see the two versions of the Kingpin/DD at a Walmart in Fargo, ND last time I was down, but knew I was getting them elsewhere, or at least I was supposed to.  Fortunately the other MN dude stumbled across a set and picked them up for me.

About the only ML figure I'm missing that I actually want is the no mask Green Goblin from the latest series, but since very few cases have shown up locally and the variants have been easier lately, I'm not too worried.

I have to wonder whether these(Giant Man wave) will eventually show up at regular retail here in Canada?  The figures in the case that I received from Legends all have bilingual packaging.  Hmmm.

Maybe.  Would be nice for Walmart to actually get the exclusives in Canada.

I really dislike the yellow on Sentry, I prefer the earlier colour that he was in.  Ah well, I can't wait to get my case though and build my Giant Man!

I have to agree with you about the paint on the Sentry figures.  This one could have been so much better.  If it weren't for the k*ck*ss build your own Giant Man, I would have to say that I find a few of these figures to be disappointing for one reason or another.

Mine are still on the way, so I can't speak to them just yet - but you guys seem to be with the majority: Giant Man is awesome, but the figures are mostly lacking. I did get a sad PM about these - apparently my source got 2 Ant Mans and no Kittys, so I'm going to have to wait for my Giant Man even longer.....  :(
Title: Re: Official Marvel Legends thread

I'm surprised to hear so many people disappointed :~/~:

Kitty Pryde is great, Sentry is fine (though mine is the mustard colour with beard) and the rest are well enough done too.  I sure wouldn't have bought the entire wave had it not been for Giant Man, of course, but that's how they hook you.  The AOA figures are fine, but I wouldn't have bought them otherwise and that's Sabretooth and 2 Wolvies.  I had no need for a Thor because I had the original version but it's still a very, very well done figure.  Antman and Havoc I'd have bought for sure and I have no major complaints about them at all.  I've always thought Havoc's headgear was more than a bit absurd but it's a nice, comic accurate figure.  Same goes for Antman.  Warbird is alright too except for the aforementioned striking resemblance to someone else.

I can make the same complaint about any series since they started the BAF deal, there's always figures I don't really like.  So I make the decision whether I really want the BAF or not.  Onslaught I passed on even though I was only missing two figures.  Mojo and MODOK I will get though.  I wish I hadn't built Apocalypse though, I was fine with the smaller version and didn't really want Maestro or X-23, plus I could have survived without Bishop or yet another Wolverine.

I bought my set from chinook hobbies and I personly really like it.  Plus to get both varients was nice as well.  The only set I wasn't really happy about was Apocalypse because I'm missing the arm tube.  I'm still tracking down varients so I might end up with it in the long run.

Got my Giant Man case!
I've only opened Thor and variant Wolverine, but they are pretty cool!  I REALLY like Thor, and Logan isn't as bad as the promo photos.  I can't wait to open the rest of them on the weekend and build my Giant Man.

The only thing I can't decide is which Sentry to open.  I really like both versions, but I don't want to have two of the same toy loose.  Dilemma, dilemma... :)

You are correct, sir.  Both Wolverine figures are required to build the Giant Man.  I did see the entire wave at TRU, including the variants, the first day they were put out.  I already had received my case though so it didn't matter to me.  Indeed, I committed the foul act of opening my figures in order to build it...and I'm glad that I did.  The Giant Man is outstanding. :scared0008:

How much of a purist are you guys about the Spider-man Classics line?

I figure since Toyfare Magazine only lists the SMC as
Series 1 & 2.........
that the carded line is NOT part of the SMC series.

Toyfare lists carded figures as the SPIDER-MAN line.

Anywho- I finally finished the SMC line by getting me the
Man-spider figure.... 2 to be precise.
Got them thru Gamesx on the bay.

I wish i dummied up & bought the Man-spider from Wally when they were $5 each........  :scared0008:

Anywho... I do have stuff from the Spiderman carded line.

Is the case breakdown for the Giant Man wave pretty much the same?

2 AOA Sabretooth
2 AOA Wolverine (1 of each)
2 Sentry (1 of each)
Kitty Pryde
Captain Britain
Havok
Thor
Ant Man
Warbird (I'm sure there's a reason she's called that instead of Ms. Marvel, but I haven't been reading the books except for Ultimate Spider-Man and Cable vs. Deadpool, so I'm out of touch w/ Marvel continuity)

Just wondering what my best bet is for nailing all these at once.
I've already got AOA Sabretooth ($5 at the comic con) which I would be fine tearing open if I can get a decent price on a set of 11, or a case.
Or its trying to find the rest all at once at TRU, roughly $15 a head after taxes, so that would bring me to $155 total for the set if I just bought them individually.

Yep, that's what I was told by Grand last week, the following products have been cancelled for us:

X-Men 3 - Series 3
Marvel Legends boxed set - House of M
Marvel Legends - Series 14
Marvel Legends - Series 15
Marvel Face Off - Series 2
Marvel Masterworks - Series 2
Marvel Showdown - Series 4
Marvel Icons Series 2 (Re-Stock)
Marvel Icons Series 3
Spider-man Rotocast figures
Spider-Man Series 18

That really sucks.  I guess it's back to ebay and more U.S trips to get these.  Crappy Canadian distribution...hmmm....I didn't think Hasbro had taken over the ML line just yet... :mad0137:  This is certainly their specialty.
Title: Re: Official Marvel Legends thread
Post by: Morgbug on October 11, 2006, 10:18:32 PM
I think it's not Hasbro's fault, sort of.  Something to do with distributors having to move all toybiz product prior to end of 2006 and the next warehouse date for Grand is December 16 so only two weeks to unload whatever they'd bring in.  I think it means we'll be fine for the Hasbro Marvel product going forward in 2007 though.

Still silly considering X3 wave 3 has been out for several weeks in the US and ML 14 started at retail there back in start of September.  We're four months behind?  I smell something funny.

It doesn't look too promising.  I was fortunate enough to have been able to grab the figures I wanted, on a recent U.S run.  Luke Cage, Falcon, Baron Zemo and 1st appearance Iron Man.  Longshot and Psylocke were the pegwarmers of this wave(with Cage coming in third place).  I really want most of the next wave, so it may soon be time to dip back into the Ebay pool.

Are they saying Hasbro on the packages yet, Haggis? I found some of the Hasbro Spider-Man: Origins figures at TRU last night, and my first impression is that they're not as good as the old Toy Biz Spider-Man figures (though I didn't see any villains). I wanted to buy a black Secret Wars Spidey, but wasn't really impressed with the eyes on the costume, and the joints didn't look as nicely done as the old figures. Maybe it's just me though.

It's still Toybiz until after series 15(which is out now in the U.S).  One thing I do like about the Hasbro ones is the fact that there aren't as many figures(at least in the first wave) and it should, in theory, be easier to find one of each.  Just saw photos of the upcoming Quicksilver and Yellowjacket figures(two old Avengers faves of mine) in Toyfare mag.  Looking forward to these too.  I understand what you are saying about the Spidey Origins figures.  I was in the same boat as you.  I do, also, like the 'throwback' soft-goods style of the larger ones-just not enough to buy them.

Well I just picked up Series 1 from Hasbro and all I have to say is WOW. What a piece of crap.   :sign0065:

They totally screwed this line up. Compared to the product Toy Biz supplied there is absolutely no reason for the lack of detail or articulation points in some of these figures.  Particularly the feet and hands. They seemed to get it right for the Spiderman Origins figures, how they screwed this up is beyond me.

To keep in line with the SO figures the paint jobs are a complete dissapointment. Banshee's skin tone looks almost yellow. (almost like he got into a fight with a few to many beers and lost badly) :u:

I was really looking forward to the Ultimate Iron Man. I may have to actually pony up the cash and start hunting for an overpriced Marvel Select version.

Rating = 2/5

I have to reserve my judgement thus far as my Walmart got the 4 Beast/4 Planet Hulk case.. but I really like the Beast I picked up... it looks alot better in person than the prototype pics from way back... the only figs I am getting from Hasbro's ML collection are the X3-related figs.. im a huge X-Men fan and well I am happy they are releasing alot of them in the Legends series... we get Beast in Series 1... Jean Grey and Phoenix as well as Juggernaut in Series 2... Colossus and rumored Angel in Series 3... so I am quite happy...  then they just have to release Rogue, Shadowcat, Iceman and Callisto.. and I will be done with Hasbro's attempt at MLs

Hulks and Beasts at my local WM also.  Neither of these two interest me.   As far as I'm concerned, Beast from X3 does not belong in the ML series but in an X3 series(which apparently, there is little demand for).  Both figures look OK in the package though I'll , like General Yoda, reserve my judgement 'til I buy the other 4 in this series.  Are the comic pack-ins a thing of the past now that Hasbro is producing these or is it just a Canadian thing(the lack of comics)?  Just wondering.

Comics are done Andrew, US and Canada. It's a Hasbro thing.

BAF is much smaller, same size as figures.

Of this line, I thought Hulk, Beast, Hercules looked fine.  Banshee and Emma Frost are crap.  Iron Man is ok to me, but I'm not a big IM fan so wrong guy to ask.

I'm not liking the Hasbro ones very much either.  Hercules is ok but I only bought him for my Avengers focus.  The Banshee figures is so bad that I couldn't bring myself to buy it.  I'm going to be very selective about these.  The Blob build-a-figure in the next wave looks pretty cool in photos I've seen.  Down in the U.S yesterday, I saw some of the Spider Man origins Signature series(mego-style).  They had Cap, Daredevil, Wolverine and Iron Spidey(cloth armour?wtf?).  Also, Marvel Attacktix.  Didn't buy any of these either but I may get some of the mego rip-offs if they show up in this country.  Ghost Rider figures are out but I wasn't digging them to much.

It's everywhere now and in numbers that are way too high.  I can find every figure super easily and they mostly suck :sad0064:  With this many bad figures out there, will we even see wave 2?

yeah the supply and demand equation for ML Wave 1 is a little bit off.. i think someone to carry the 1  :tongue0024:

Walmarts and TRUs around my neck of the woods are swimming in Beasts and Planet Hulks and the rest of them... not encouraging for those like me who want Wave 2...i need my Jean Grey, Juggy and She-Hulk.. worst case scenerio, I buy them for a dollar or two more at a comic shop in town.. but still..

TRU has a sale on Marvel figures this week.
12.99 ones are at 6.47.

Supposedly Hasbro stuff.  But I think the left over Toy Biz ML stuff counts as well since they have the same price.

Hasbro has the Spider-Man Origins, Ghost Rider movie, and Marvel Legends lines.

Went to TRU Sat morning and picked up the entire Wave 1 ML.  Including the chase Ultimate Iron Man...

There's two versions of Iron Man - one with the helmet on in the packaging, and one with the helmet off and on the side of the packaging.  Don't worry, I don't think one is more rare than the other, I saw an even distribution of them at my TRU.

I picked up Banshee, Emma, Hulk, and Beast for the 7 bucks price tag.  Awesome!  I hate the Beast and Emma figures, but 28 bucks more to complete my set is worth it.  I think I'm going to get a price difference off the Iron Man and Hercules I got from TRU last week too.  :D  42 bucks for an entire wave is an awesome price.

Im very disappointed in Hasbro series -- the quality has just plummeted.

I remember getting ML Series 1 !!!! The Iron man BLEW ME AWAY!!!! And now look at what we get!?!

I agree, the quality has cheapened, in my opinion.  Emma and Beast look horrible.  But Ultimate Iron Man is just awesome, I love the figure.

This line has to be the biggest dissapointment this year.
The Iron Man doesn't even compare to the Marvel Select version. That version was the Ultimate Iron Man.
I am hoping wave 2 is better quality. If they screw up Quicksilver and Yellow Jacket that's it.

True, the Select version was pretty darn detailed.  Not as articulated though.

From the pictures of wave 2, Yellow Jacket ain't looking too good.  :(  And if the plastic quality remains the same, I think Pym's gonna be a pretty bad figure.

Trust me, they'll kill it with wave 2. The heroes they've chosen have been bad, the figures have been bad and the reviews of the figures have been even worse. ML is dead in the water.

Don't know if this has been posted in these boards yet, but in case it wasn't...

Here's a link to a little survey by Hasbro

http://www.hasbro.com/common/surveys/hasbrocollectors/hasbrocollectors.htm

Please take a few minutes to fill it up and let them know what you like and dislike about their lines that you collect.
And don't be shy to let them know that us Canadians hate U.S. exclusive stuff,..I know i told,em!

Thanks for the link Steve, my comments below:

Don't cheap out on sculpt.  The first run of Marvel Legends under your guidance looked like crap.  I have over 100 ML figures from ToyBiz' days and have yet to purchase one of yours.  Packaging is irrelevant to me, sculpt/articulation are everything.  Please explain why the Emma Frost figure looks like a man wearing a diaper?

Exclusives suck, particularly for any of your fans that live outside the United States.

Don't ignore the fans, even if you think jokes about Yarna and Willrow Hood are funny, they're lame and insulting.

You can make all the Star Wars EU crap you like, it'll only drive me further into vintage Kenner product taking dollars away from you.

Stop with the chase figures (last year's UGH), all it does is create a secondary market on ebay for fat old men in smelly sweatpants.

Picked up the silver Wolverine in the U.S yesterday.  They had about six pegs full of the Emma Frost too.  Saw most of the Series 2 figures.  I still think they pale in comparison to what Toybiz did but I will likely pick up Yellowjacket and Quicksilver at some point only due to the fact that they are rarely made into figures.  X3 Jean Grey and Juggernaut were warming the pegs.  Also saw the 'Marvel Legends' Spider Man Signature Series(Mego ripoff) Cyclops at Target.  I was tempted to get it but I was hoping to find something SW instead...so I passed.

Marvel Legens Series 1 Candian RETURN TO VENDOR because of Poor Sales.
check it our here. read the comments as well its appearently not just TRU being recalled. also S2 is also been said to be canceled for major retialers. (no final confirmation on that)

this doesnt suprise me because the S1 shippents were 3 characters a box & not one singal major retailer Ive been too had all 6 in one place. its been either all Hulk, Beast, Herc or all Iron Man, Emma, & Banshee. Hasbro done screwed this up & looks like we all get to fight over what specialty shops get from now on.

Well, it's a sad day. I'm taking the "sticky" off this topic after a good, long run at the top of this section.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but why?  I've heard the rumours about recalls/not getting series 2 but is there some confirmation now?  I can't imagine Hasbro pulling the pin totally on ML stuff, especially not in summer.  I think they're smart enough to realize wave 1 was their fault, aren't they?  Wave two seems to be much better quality/sculpt.
Title: Re: Official Marvel Legends thread
Post by: Alexandertrooper on July 02, 2007, 05:30:30 PM
very true wave two and three look great so I don't know why they would just drop it.  Yes wave 1 was junk but oh well live and learn its not like the star wars licence were everything sells.
Title: Re: Official Marvel Legends thread
Post by: jjreason on July 02, 2007, 10:20:53 PM
Well, the sticky denotes usually a topic that's very active - or one that I don't want to see buried. The posts have not been coming, because the figures have not been coming. If wave 2 shows up, the posts will take care of the topic - and if it heats up again, I'll put the sticky back on.

I'm going to go ahead and suggest we'll see this line again, but it'll be relaunched by late 2007 in the "new" 5" format we've been seeing for the movie figures.
Title: Re: Official Marvel Legends thread

Patience people.
The line has not been cancelled and Wave 2 has only recently begun showing up in larger production numbers in the states.
I know that the green quicksilver is starting to show up. It just might turn out that the lack of Blue ones distributed could make it the variant.  :D

I highly doubt they will trim these down to 5" scale.

I'm sure more will happen after SDCC.

I've seen lots of series 2 on my last couple of trips to the U.S.  Next time I go(hopefully, in the next two weeks), I'm going to try and grab a set if they are still around.

BTW, if anyone's not interested in finishing the Blob BAF, I'm interested in parts.  Hoping to stumble across a big X-men fan that doesn't want the Blob BAF

Anyway, I bought Quicksilver, She-Hulk, Thor (like I needed yet another) and Yellowjacket.  Kinda hoping for someone not into BAFs or a sale.  Sure not buying those pieces at full Canadian retail.

Went south today and grabbed the Walmart exclusive Silver Surfer fig. that I missed out on last time.  $10.97 on clearance.  I also picked up the Yellowjacket figure from Series 2.  They had Juggernauts and Wolverines and a Jean Grey that someone sloppily swapped into a Yellowjacket package.  I hope to get the rest of the series next time I'm near a decent TRU and KB.  Today I wasn't...
Gotta have that Blob BAF even though YJ, Quicksilver and She-Hulk are the only figs. in this series that I rate.

I saw the exclusive Silversurfer all over the TRUs I went to and it is the same fig from toy biz, except that it's shinier and apparently there's no magnits. I also saw a repainted silver Wolverine from the old toybiz line, so I guess Wolvy is on the path to the darkside and is following in Vader's footsteps. There was a clear Emma Frost too. Has anyone seen the third repainted version of Emma frost at TRU? It comes with a whip now and is called the black queen.

Am wondering how you guys store your loose ML figures when they're not on display.

I'm just starting to collect ML and if anyone sees any left over Toy Biz product at local retail stores, could you please give me ashout cause I'll probably need it because I'm really behind in the collection.
Title: Re: Official Marvel Legends thread
Post by: jjreason on October 06, 2007, 10:56:49 AM
They made a Black Queen variant of Emma Frost? That's interesting - she's a totally separate character (though I know they repaint figures or parts of figures all the time to make new ones).

I store mine stacked neatly, loose, lying down in a large flat Rubbermaid bin. They haven't suffered any paint loss or warping, so I'm sticking with that method.

I would love to see this Black Queen figure...must be very new as there aren't even any on ebay(aside from a 1996 Black Queen).  Also, Popeye, is the exclusive Silver Surfer the limited edition on that comes in a window box?  I only ever saw them at Walmart in the U.S. starting when the movie came out.  Interesting that they have them at TRU now.

Is the site where I found confirmation  concerning the third repainted Emma I heard about from a TRU worker. A picture of the figure is under the exclusives section.

I'd love to hear more tips on storing loose ML figures. Thank you for the ones posted.

I noticed the exclusive Silver Surfer at TRU, but don't know how many were on the shelves. I can pick it up for anyone who wants to do trades for some toy biz figs. I know a specialty shop in my area has some they picked up from the U.S. I bet it'll cost more.
Title: Re: Official Marvel Legends thread
Post by: haggisking on December 06, 2007, 08:46:14 PM
Exclusive Black Queen is now at TRU.  Popeye was quite correct, aside from the fact that the Black Queen is Jean Grey not Emma Frost.

Saw the newest wave of ML at the local Scalp Emporium($20.99+tax, sod that).  A friend also found a couple for me in the US at less than half that price.  The following is my, likely biased, opinion of this wave:
The Good:
Old school Captain America
Bucky
Hydra soldier
The OK:
X3 Colussus(don't care much for figs from the movie.  If I did, I would buy this)
Cyclops
Danger(who?)
The Ugly:
Marvel Girl
Black Knight(looks better in the print ads.  I was so looking forward to this figure)

IMO, as with the Blob series and the FF series, the build-a-figure is still the only reason anyone would buy this entire wave.
Title: Re: Official Marvel Legends thread
Post by: Morgbug on December 28, 2007, 01:02:55 AM
You can buy a second Hydra soldier and use it for the X3 Colossus piece I think, to build tha BAF.  From what I've been told, they're identical.

I bought Cyclops just for the BAF and will skip Danger as my Brood Queen will be wingless and just fine that way.  I still need to get the Cap, Bucky and Black Knight figs.  Bucky is apparently short packed, to some degree.  Which is weird considering it's 8 figs to a case, 8 figs in the series.
Title: Re: Official Marvel Legends thread
Post by: jjreason on December 28, 2007, 04:29:24 PM
Danger is the Danger Room come to life - she's a villain from the current Astonishing X-Men comic series (thought I'd clear that up).

I've often thought they needed Army Builders in this line (Hydra, AIM and Hand Ninjas to be exact - one down, two to go I guess), so it's cool they've made one.
Title: Re: Official Marvel Legends thread
Post by: haggisking on December 28, 2007, 09:01:14 PM
Thanks for clearing that up.  I almost bought a variant Hydra soldier from Evil J at a toyshow on the weekend, but resisted(for now).  I still need a Bucky too.  I'll probably get the Black Knight figure(even though I still think it is a bit odd looking) eventually.  I've seen more variant Marvel Girl figures than I have regular ones.

I still collect them... ;).  I'm gonna miss this line when it's gone.
Thanks for posting this and making me place another order with Legends! (<;

If anyone cares, I noticed today that ML Brood BAF wave figures were on clearance(yes, I said CLEARANCE) at Walmart for $2.00 each.  I saw Bucky, X3 Colossus, Black Knight and Marvel Girl on the shelf.  Such a dirt-cheap clearout suggest to me that this line is, probably, kaput at the chainstore level.  Brings a tear to my glass eye.
