Wampa Cave / Snowtroopers.ca has moved
« on: October 10, 2009, 01:34:14 AM »
The site is scheduled to get moved to a new server sometime this weekend, so expect some more downtime.
The forum has been moved, you should notice an increase in speed and reliability( back to normal ).  :D  Let us know if you have noticed any improvement in load times or if you are still having any issues.

Anyone using and @snowtroopers.ca please send me an email if you want to continue using it.

There will also be another Canadian Star Wars site using the forums after the move, but we will announce details later.

New members no longer need to be approved by admins when registering, so its a simpler quicker process, now so for any guests or lurkers  ;) feel free to join.

Any members who don't have access to the provincial forums, and want it let me know, if your a posting member you might have just been missed

Any members that haven't logged on in a few years or have 0 posts, your accounts are being removed, you can always register again.

Once things are running smooth again, make sure to let people know,  it would be nice to see this place busy again :D

Any questions, concerns or suggestions post here or send an email (link below)

Cheers

Kevin

Announcements / Toy Shows / Contests / The future of Snowtroopers.ca

You may have noticed continuing problems with the forums over the last year or so and although updating to the latest version (smf) didn't seem to fix things. Basically there a couple of problems, the server seems to slow down and the forum layout was made for an older version of smf.

To rectify these problems I am considering moving the site to a new server (hosting company) and try to design a new updated forum theme.

My question to you all, is it worth it, things have slowed down, people have left for various reasons so things are not as busy and intersting as they once were (makes the mods life easier). I don't mind putting in the effort if people are still going to use the site, but if it is going to die a slow death because of lack of interest I would rather not waste the time and money.

Although I don't post as much as I once did , I still come around every day, my main priority was to keep the site up and running.
My kids are older now and I am expected to spend time with them  :(, I am self employed, I have a dog, a few guitars and keyboards that want attention, and there is always fishing, oh and I have a wife. I don't have the free time I use to have, but I still make an effort to try to keep the place up and running although it might seem to be a losing battle a times.

I will hopefull be getting some help from Chris at Jedidefender and relocate  our site to the server they are hosted on.

Also if anyone is interested in being a mod or help trying to keep things interesting by posting on the main news page send me a pm.

Any suggestions or input is welcome

Cheers

Kevin

Customs / Custom Gunship turrets
« on: November 11, 2008, 07:03:16 PM »
I made these a long time ago, but was trying to expalin to someone what they were, so i though I would just post the link again incase someone wants to try to make there own

There are some photos and a link with instructions on the bottom of this page http://www.dgm-laminating.com/koda/

BTW ignore the collection pics they are realy old and things have changed alot over the years , things are less cluttered :speechless-smiley-004:

I thought I would add, that "back then" we didn't have many clones to choose from, but now there are tons you can use instead of using the pilots.

This is an actual pic with the turrets on one of my gunships

Wampa Cave / Snowtroopers.ca news posters wanted
« on: April 14, 2008, 06:55:48 PM »
If anyone is interested in helping out with posting some news on the main page let me know. I hate seeing the main page site idle for long periods of time (looks neglected).

I really don't have as much free time as I use to, so it would be nice to get some help just to keep things looking interesting. I just renewed the site for another 2 years and we are going on 7 years as snowtroopers.ca  :u: so we are not going anywhere.

Posting on the main page is set up like making a post on the forum, simple.

If you are interested or want more details send me an email - koda@snowtroopers.ca

Cheers

If you want to debate the star wars side , they are looking for someone who is willing to make thier point. Te debate is for tomorrow, so if you are interested send me your name and phone# asap

Wampa Cave / CBC newsworld looking for 30th Anniversary ideas
« on: May 15, 2007, 11:36:52 AM »
I am passing this on here to get greater input for ideas for the reporter from CBC. Just post any names/Ideas here or send me an email. Although I know every one here is a big fan of the movies, I am sure they are not just looking for someone with a few toys in their room :winking0071:
Any help would be appreciated  -Kevin (Koda) koda@snowtroopers.ca

"I am writing to you from CBC Newsworld. For the big anniversary coming up, our network would like to do a special something. But I am looking for some creative ideas. We are looking for a guest for an interview. Can you recommend a few names? Perhaps through your network of friends, you know a die-hard fan who has made a Star Wars home, or a Canadian actor who was in the first film, or someone in Canada who designed the set for the film, or involved in any other way?"
