Scout Report / Kellogg's Toy Coupon - 2017
« on: October 31, 2017, 10:27:25 PM »
The Kellogg's Toy coupon is back.

The boxes are hitting stores now and it looks like they'll be available for around $5 at a bunch of stores this coming week.

For those unfamiliar with the coupon, basically you buy 2 boxes of Kellogg's cereal (family size - look for the present on the box).  Inside each box is a pin code.  Sign up on Kellogg's site and for every two pin codes entered, you can receive a coupon for $10 off of a toy or game (any brand) or $10 off of a toy purchase of $25 or more.

I know in the past, the coupon has been accepted at TRU, Wal-Mart and Canadian Tire.

Nice deal for regular cereal buyers.

The Last Jedi (2017-???) / Lack of Rebels in TLJ Line
« on: October 23, 2017, 11:11:53 PM »
After seeing Rebels released as part of TFA and R1, I'm a little surprised there's nothing in the TLJ line so far - especially given there are new costumes for main characters.

I'm also surprised no one really seems to care.  Maybe I haven't been visiting the right forums, but I haven't noticed much concern about a lack of Rebels.

I'm certainly not heartbroken over the lack of Rebels, but wouldn't have been against getting more.

For myself, I expected to see a new Kanan and Ezra, but hoped for a new Kallus (with removable helmet).  An improved Hera would be a nice addition, too.

So, I'm just wondering, does anybody here really care about the lack of new Rebels (or heard reports of new figures on the way)?

Wampa Cave / Vintage Collecton: What Figures Would You Choose?
« on: May 24, 2017, 08:25:58 AM »
With the Vintage Collection returning, I thought I'd throw out the question of if you could choose six characters for the line - three new (includes kit bashes, different paint, and minimal new tooling) and three repacks (straight repacks only), who would they be?

And remember, this is just for fun.

The list doesn't have to be "definitive".  The six we pick today doesn't have to be the six we'd pick tomorrow.  This is a fan site after all.  Not Hasbro HQ.   Nothing is set in plastic here.

On to my picks...

For new, I'd like to see:

1. Bib Fortuna - The last one was okay, but I would like a "non-hissing" face, please.
2. Episode II Anakin (regular Jedi outfit) - Even if it was just a kit bash of the TVC EpII head with the TVC EpIII body, I'd be fine with that.  A new better head sculpt would be even better.  I'm just not a fan of the Evolutions head.  To me, it doesn't look like Hayden Christiansen.
3. Sim Aloo - Last of the vintage to be made in the modern line.

For repacks:

1. Count Dooku (SA Legacy Collection) - One of the few remaining major prequel characters without a TVC card back.
2. Malakili the Rancor Keeper (Legacy Collection)- Missed this one, plus it'd be a nice "modern" TVC card back upgrade.
3. Jawas (Black Series) - Would be a nice addition for card back collecting, plus I wouldn't be against adding more jawas.

Later, when I'm making a list in my head again, I'll probably switch out Anakin for Dash Rendar and Dooku for an OT character.  Or not.  :P

Well, that's my list.

What's yours?

Wampa Cave / Kellogg's Toy Coupon
« on: December 14, 2016, 12:42:51 PM »
I know this is isn't exactly Star Wars related, but, I found out yesterday the Kellogg's $10 off a toy coupons are still available.

For those who don't know what I'm talking about, here's a bit of back story.

For a few years, Kellogg's has been offering toy coupons at Christmas time.  I think, at first, you could only get specific Hasbro toys, but then it was expanded to include any Hasbro toy or game.

This year, the deal's not quite as good as it has been.

Before, one box of cereal got you one coupon for $10 or more off.  In 2014, for example, you could choose between two coupons - $20 off one Hasbro toy or game or $10 off a purchase of $25 or more.

This year, you need two boxes for one coupon.  Plus, the coupons are for less.  Up to $10 off one toy or $10 off one toy of $25 or more.  On the plus side, it seems to be usable on any toy this year.  Not just Hasbro.

I never had any real problems using the coupons in the past, so hopefully these will be fine, too.  But, your mileage may vary.

Any stories concerning this year's coupons and ease of use would be welcome.

Scout Report / TRU Sale - up to 30% off all figures (Dec 16-22)
« on: December 13, 2016, 10:57:52 PM »
Starting Friday, Toys R Us is going to have up to 30% off all figures (excluding clearance and what not).  The flyer shows the Andor two-pack ($17.17), but no 6" figures.  So, for those of us hoping to use the flyer for price matching, we're out of luck.

Wampa Cave / Walgreens Gets BS OT C-3P0

Hopefully this shows up at EB Games or Amazon.ca.

I believe a couple of more recent Walgreens' Marvel Legends exclusives have shown up at EB Games (Namor and Punisher).

Amazon.ca has Namor in stock, too.

Wampa Cave / Tip for Finding a Fett (and other things) at TRU Website
« on: March 22, 2014, 11:53:48 AM »
This may or may not be news to some here, but it's something I just learned recently and thought I'd share it in case it can help.

I've sometimes done the "email me when it's in" request at TRU.ca, but it's not uncommon that after I get email notification, I can't find the product on the site.

This week, I learned it helps to have a direct link to the product.  Sometimes things that may not show up in a search are actually in stock.

For example, yesterday morning I received an email Fett was in stock.  Went to the site - nothing.

Then I noticed Boba was in my recently viewed items list.  Clicked on it and there it was in stock.

Here's Fett's link -
http://www.toysrus.ca/product/index.jsp?productId=29225776

If you're missing him, you can sign up for an email then use the direct link when he's (hopefully) in stock again.

Just checked out ToysRUs.ca and am no longer seeing any references to buy three figures or more and get free shipping.

Too bad if it's gone.  It was a nice deal.

Scout Report / TRU/Hasbro Promotion: Spend $25+ and Save $10
« on: April 03, 2013, 05:03:29 PM »
Toys R Us and Hasbro have a promotion until April 18: spend $25+ on Hasbro toys and save $10

I found out about it on Saturday at the register.  I thought it might have only been for the weekend since I couldn't find any info about it, but yesterday I was back in the store and found out it's until the 18th.

The cashiers should have a card at the front they scan with your purchase.  The deal is also good online using HASBRO10.
