Non-Star Wars Toys / odd collections?
« on: April 15, 2012, 12:08:03 AM »
anyone here have any side collections besides the usual star wars, joes, superheroes, etc that just seems....very out of place? for me, and laugh all you want, it' little pony  :-[  i recently got convinced to watch the current version of the show, and you know what? it's actually pretty awesome! there's a huge male fanbase, lot of pop cult references, including to star wars in one episode, and...yeah...started buying the occasional figure, although i mostly just make custom ones with them, since hasbro can't even get their own characters designs right! :P
so what about you guys?

Wampa Cave / help me get caught up?
« on: February 11, 2012, 11:24:09 AM »
been a long time since i've actually been able to watch clone wars on TV, so i'm pretty far behind...i'm not even sure what season it's on now...if anyone has an episode list (and maybe some helpful quick reviews of whats good or not?)
the last episode i remember watching was the godzilla parody/reference one and stuff, hahaha so that was...season 2? 3?...

Non-Star Wars Toys / DCD/DCU figures?
« on: December 10, 2011, 08:03:53 PM »
anyone here collect DC direct/DC universe classics figures? i've built a sizeable lantern corp collection lately, and have found some doubles of some pretty rare ones, like kyle rayner and sinestro corp batman

The Toys - Snowtrooper Reviews! / quality jump?
« on: November 29, 2011, 06:26:59 PM »
i guess this could be a good thing, haha...
just picked up commander colt and wolffe, and i'm trying to compare them to the previous clone wars figures from the early points of the seems like they've generally taken a huge step up in quality to me. sculpts look better and more detailed, paint apps are crisper and more varied, the weapons seem less clunky and huge...all in all, it seems to me like the CW line is a lot better than i remember it being. is this just hasbro keeping up with the show and the producers/etc putting more detail into everything (save plots :P ) or is hasbutt actually trying to do a good job for once?

Snowtrooper Recruitment / long time no see~
« on: November 07, 2011, 11:40:51 AM »
haven't been on here for god knows how long; been kinda out of collecting (star wars, anyway) for a while now, and sorta lost contact with most of the sites i used to visit daily, hahaha.
i...doubt if anyone here even remembers me, actually XD
anyways, mostly came back because i was hoping to find a review of some new sets, mainly the TRU republic commando set. just wanted to know if it used the original scorch mold, or if it was based on the newer one from the wal-mart evolution set?
either way, i'll probably pick it up, eventually  :P

Non-Star Wars Toys / video game figures?
« on: November 21, 2010, 05:56:16 PM »
i've heard of/seen some figures from Assassin's creed and bioshock available on some sponsor websites, but i was wondering if anyone's seen them available at any stores in canada? i believe the bioshock ones are suppose to be exclusive to TRU, but i'm not sure~

Wampa Cave / prequels: how would you have done them?
« on: November 17, 2010, 11:49:18 PM »
always hear lots of people complain about episodes 1-3, and how terrible they all were, so i thought i'd say "hey, prove you could do better, tells us how you'd do them!"
there are some obvious criteria you'd have to work in, of course:
1) anakin meeting obi-wan
2)padme/luke+leia's mother
3)the clone wars
4) how palpatine came to power
5) anakin's fall
everything else is up to you!
i'll post my own after i get some sleep, it's 1AM right now  :tongue0024:

Polls / best clone wars scene/battle?
« on: October 14, 2010, 08:51:04 PM »
for my media production class, we have to make a 1 minute stop motion animation, and so i figured i would try and recreate a scene from the clone wars (current series or Genndy Tartakovsky microseries) with figures. anything that would be considered a decent close up fight would be good, although i'd prefer to do something with clone troopers. right now i'm thinking of the battle of coruscant, where they have the small squad of clones fighting off all the droids in the plaza, before yoda and mace windu show up. also open to doing scenes from the clone wars graphic novels, if anyone would/could post them

Scout Report / TIE bomber?
« on: October 09, 2010, 07:13:56 PM »
don't know if this has been seen anywhere else yet, or when the release date is suppose to be, but i just found a shelf full of them at wal-mart here in NB. price was 45$, but it looked like an awesome ship :)
they also had the new Jabba, 35$.

Customs / G.I joe customs
« on: September 11, 2010, 12:12:23 PM »
so, the idea/basis for most of my joe customs is that Cobra has won, and is in control of most of the world. G.I joe is the main resistance group, although many of its original members are dead, and many new ones have joined. so, to start:
Snake Eyes II
the apprentice to SE before he goes MIA, she takes his place as the hand to hand combat expert

 torso, arms: ROC baroness
legs: ROC agent Helix
head: ROC paris pursuit snake eyes
coat: POTC figure

the tech expert for the Joe unit, Glitch usually supports the group by hacking cobra computer networks, and setting up communications with other anti-cobra cells. in combat situations, he uses combat droids and turrets (designed and built by himself)

head: ROC ripcord
body: wolverine/marvel sabertooth
lower arms: delta-6 suit
coat: paris pursuit snake eyes

part of the original joe team, Scarlett salvaged one of the few remaining combat suits. she wears it at almost all times. she's also traded in her crossbow for a heavier AK-57

simple enough, just put the head of a 25th scarlett on the body of ROC suit scarlett, and repainted the hair

Duke (prisoner outfit)
i imagined Duke, being the leader of the joes, being captured by cobra, and sent to one of their many prison/labor camps. he wears a brace on his hand as it was crushed by a cobra officer.

the freeman
sometimes, life imitates art. sometimes, a crazy guy takes a video game too seriously, thinking it is some kind of prophetic message. in either case, Gordon Freeman took on the persona of the video game hero of the same name. using a (presumed stolen) accelerator suit, he'd been fighting a one man war against cobra troops, using only a 9MM pistol, and of course, a crowbar.

wild west
an expert in antique weapons, wild west joined the team after he was caught attempting to loot one of the joes safe houses. impressed by his sharpshooting skills, and general hatered of whatever authority happened to be in power, Scarlett recruited him to the team.

body is paris pursuit snake eyes, head and coat are X-men origins sabertooth, forget where everything else is from, haha.

a french doctor who runs a small clinic. while not a true joe, he's sympathetic to their cause, and has been known to help care for injured joes.

Duke(millitary uniform)

Mr. White
not much is known about mr. white, although he has helped joes escape from cobra forces before. he is always acompanied by the gas-mask wearing child.

specializing in covert entry and sabotage. he is also a skilled marksman.

head: shockblast
torso: ROC air raid
arms: ROC air raid
legs: shockblast

Off Topic / milk bag spouts
« on: August 29, 2010, 02:27:41 PM »
i don't know if anyone knows what i'm even talking about, but they're little spike things to stick in bags of milk, with a spout for pouring it. they're just red plastic, and come in little bag packages of two. they look like the little pieces in the bottom right corner of this picture
if anyone knows what i'm talking about, or has any saved up somewhere, please let me know, i need some more for a project i'm working on
