Has anyone seen the Walmart 3 3/4" Black Series Boba Fett, Sandtrooper, Ponda Baba, Tusken Raider figures in Canada yet? Any confirmation whether we'll see these up here?

Interesting article. Looks like Star Wars toy sales in Canada continue to be strong:

Wampa Cave / Post Magazine Looking for Toronto Collectors
« on: November 16, 2015, 09:37:57 PM »
Give her a shout if you're from the GTA and are interested:

My name is Tina and I am contacting you on behalf of Post City Magazines in Toronto. For our upcoming December issue, we are hoping to feature a few Torontonians who are super fans of Star Wars / devote spare time to some kind of Star Wars hobby (whether it be collecting, blogging, drawing, dressing up, etc.)

I am compiling a list of candidates who might be interested in posing with a few others for a photoshoot for the magazine. The only real requirements are that you are from the city (Toronto) and you have a serious interest in Star Wars. If this is something you might consider being a part of, please let me know.

Thank you and have a great day!

Wampa Cave / The Changing Face of Canadian Retail
« on: November 18, 2012, 02:37:41 PM »
Now that we're entering the Christmas/holiday buying season, I was speaking with my nephew recently about items his children might be interested in (and thinking about where I could get them) and was astonished at how much retail has changed in Canada since the days when I was small and buying the original Star Wars items.

Looking back at the stores where I used to buy Star Wars that are no longer around:

Eaton's, Simpsons, Consumers Distributing, Toy City/Toyville, Miracle Mart, Towers/Bonimart, Woolworth's, Woolco. Added to the fact that the Bay and Sears are still around but no longer carry toys (yes, the Sears Wishbook still has toys, but only 1 page for Star Wars) - in addition to many local/regional stores across the country no longer in business - Toys & Wheels, Tops in Toys, Woodward's, Caplan's, Ogilvy's/Robinson's, Toy World, W H Smith and the list goes on.

...compared to the stores that exist today that still carry Star Wars toys:

Zellers (to be replaced by Target), Wal-Mart and Toys R Us. Yes, we have places like Winners but they are essentially close-out stores selling old stock, and there are seasonal stores like Canadian Tire, Superstore that carry Star Wars toys sporadically or only at Christmas. There are stores here and there that will sell a figure or two like Home Sense, London Drugs etc., but I'm talking more about stores that carry the entire line where consumers have a decent selection to choose from.

The changes (and general *lack* of choice) in Canada is amazing (and not in a good way).

Will anyone be attending the 'special' Star Wars screening of TPM 3D on Saturday February 11 (11:00am) at one of the following event theatres:

•Cineplex Odeon Queensway Cinemas, 1025 The Queensway, Etobicoke, ON
•Coliseum Kirkland Cinemas, 3200 rue Jean Yves, Kirkland PQ
•Colossus Langley Cinemas, #20090, 91A Avenue Langley, BC

Apparently, there will be some giveaways including some special Anakin Podracer 3D (and possibly Darth Maul 3D) glasses:

If anyone could snag me each of the glasses (and any other giveaways from the event), I will gladly compensate you for them. Please drop me a PM if you can help.

Thanks!

A big congratulations to the (Ottawa 501st) Capital City Garrison for their efforts in the annual Ottawa Professional Firefighters Association Help Santa Toy Parade this past Saturday evening. Judging by the writeup in the newspaper, they were a big hit (as always):

Wampa Cave / New Saga Legends Mailaway - Qui-Gon & Eopie
« on: May 09, 2009, 02:36:43 PM »
Looks like the new Saga Legends line will be having a mailaway for the Qui-Gon Jinn and Eopie figures. This is great news for those who were not able to pick these up during the Episode I heyday and don't want to pay $100+ for one :). Here's a shot of the new saga cards as well as the  sticker offer (good in USA AND Canada)! The image below is courtesy of our good friends at Rebelscum:

Wampa Cave / Does Anyone Recall "Gambles"?
« on: January 07, 2009, 10:57:34 PM »
This question is aimed more at the older Snowtroopers on the board, but does anyone recall a department store in Canada by the name of Gambles and where they were located? They were probably located in western Canada, but I'm just guessing at this point. They went out of business in the early 1980s. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Wampa Cave / Darth Vader Goalie
« on: September 24, 2008, 09:49:36 PM »
(Cross-posted to the Sports Section):

Last year, the Ottawa Senators' goalie, Martin Gerber, wore a plain black mask and got the nickname Darth Gerber from his fellow teammates. This year, Martin is trying out a new facemask specially painted for him with the Ottawa Centurion on both sides and Darth Vader himself on the front:

Looks pretty nifty. In the first pre-season game wearing the Darth Vader mask, Ottawa beat Philadelphia 3-1.

GO SENS GO!
