Off Topic / Costume Makers and 501st Member, I need you!

Hello everyone!

I've recently become engaged and my fiance has surprised me with a request.  She wants her gown to be one from Star Wars.  She is an excited and new star wars fan now, thanks to me introducing her to the original series and The Clone Wars cartoon.  She has told me that the wedding dress she would like to wear on our big day is the one that Padme is wearing when her and Anakin get married in secret in Episode II.  I've searched high and low for a knock off or something similar, but to no avail.
I'm reaching out to the Star Wars community for help in the hopes that perhaps I can meet this wish hers.  I am willing to rent or buy something if the price is reasonable.  I'm located in the Vancouver area.  If anyone can help in any way that would be fantastic.

We are getting married on 5 May 13 (we wanted the 4th but we couldn't get that date booked).

Off Topic / Helping Canadas' veterans

Hello Troopers

I'd like to put the word out about a fund raising campaign I'm working on with my school here in BC.  I brief background to start.  I'm currently attending BCIT for a business administration degree.  I'm in my early thirties now and have made the challenging leap of going back to school after a decade serving in the Canadian Forces.  I've served on two missions outside of Canada, one to Bosnia and one to Afghanistan.  A year or so ago I came across a program at BCIT that offered to give soldiers and veterans credit for military experience towards an education.  This is something quite unique and is allowing me to get my Bachelors in 2 years.  The equivalent would take 4 years at any other university here in Canada.  My goal is to eventually transition from military service to a safer job here at home.  I've been working with the program administrators since I started attending classes last year to help get the word out to fellow soldiers and veterans.  We have recently partnered up with the BC/Yukon Legion to help fund future scholarships and bursaries for veterans to attend classes.  This is quite a special program to me and my fellow soldiers because there is very little help when it comes to upgrading education for veterans, especially when it comes to finding help financially.  So I close with asking for your help to put the word out to help us raise awareness of the program and possibly make a donation to our campaign so that we can fund future scholarships and bursaries at BCIT.

Non-Star Wars Toys / TRU sale on GI Joe RoC
« on: August 25, 2010, 09:50:13 PM »
Just stopped by my local TRU to see if they had any new SW items, unfortunately not. I did notice that the GI Joe RoC single figures were on sale for 2.98 each.  Great bargain for army builders.

Off Topic / My Birthday Treat
« on: August 16, 2010, 10:34:15 PM »
My GF kicked me out of the house so she could prepare her birthday gift for me. So I thought to celebrate my big 30 today I would treat myself to a few items. Grabbed a few Marvel Universe figs, Pursuit of Cobra Joes, and a few SW exclusives from a friend that has helped in my hunting lately.  Jodo Kast from Kmart is an awesome figure, as is the Own Lars and Darth Maul comic pack.  For those who don't open there figures, a little FYI about the comic with Owen and Maul: not a bad story. Uncle Owen "YOU ARE THE MAN".  I've found a new respect for this character thanks to that comic.

Wampa Cave / Clone Diversification

I was curious if anyone at Hasbro has considered the possibility of putting out a batch of clone troopers in the CW line with a common head sculpt that could be removed and switched out with unique head sculpts. I personally prefer removable clone helmets over fixed ones.

Snowtrooper Recruitment / New To the Boards
« on: December 18, 2009, 12:19:05 AM »
Well hello everyone.  I've just recently made the plunge into the forums.  I'll be honest, I've never been a member of a forum before. So I hope it's as fun as it looks from the outside.
Little about myself, I've been a SW fan since childhood and still remember watching A New Hope on Beta in my parents basement while playing with my G.I.Joes.  It wasn't until my post college years that I took to collecting figures.  I really got into the figures during the ROTS line and have been rather vigorous in my collecting since.  I'm also a enjoy TF, BSG, and Farscape.
Well I'm looking forward to meeting some new collectors who I can swap stories with.

Scout Report / CW Mispacks
« on: December 18, 2009, 12:07:54 AM »
I was wondering a local Zellars today when I came across this Assault on Ryloth Battle Pack.  I had to take a double take because I don't normally come across mispacks at retail prices during my hunting.

A nice surprise on a lazy morning after breakfast!
