Scout Report / Gentle Giant will start producing mass market toys
« on: February 16, 2018, 08:48:57 AM »
I found this interesting, just got an email announcing Gentle Giant Ltd. expands into the mass toy market.
My first thought was that the genesis of this idea came out of the fact over the last year or so it appeared that Hasbro gave Gentle Giant a hard time over using the Kenner name on it's packaging.   And now what was once a defensive move by Hasbro has put Gentle Giant on the offence and could possibly do more damage to Hasbro market share than had they just let Gentle Giant use the Kenner logo on it's packaging.  But when you see the range of products the story could be that Hasbro got wind of the fact Gentle Giant was going into the mass consumer market and then decided they did not want a new competitor using their logo on a GG product.   Either way we get more junk to collect !!!

Gentle Giant Ltd. Expands to Include Gentle Giant Toys

New Branding
Gentle Giant Toys

BURBANK, CA (February 16, 2018) – Gentle Giant Ltd./3D Systems is excited to announce our new mass market collectible toy division Gentle Giant Toys.  Gentle Giant Ltd. have been known as an industry leader in the high-end collectibles market for almost 2 decades, and were pioneers in using digital scans and data to make collector consumer products.   Gentle Giant Toys is proud to announce the first six new mass-market collectible toy lines and the return of a favorite line.

Gentle Giant Toys is a new division branding itself independently from Gentle Giant Ltd with a new logo, new website and new social media handles.  “These fun new, lines deserve a fun, new logo. The new logo tells a story and is more playful and approachable,” said Daniel Pickett, Marketing Manager for Gentle Giant Toys, “The Giant represents the company’s history and expertise in the world of authentic replication. The Butterfly is the embodiment of the artistic and innovative style ingrained into its consumer products.”

“We are excited at the prospect of taking our almost two decades of experience and applying the same care, craftsmanship and attention to detail to these lower price-point collectible toy lines: same way we treat our high-end resin pieces,” said , Dev Gilmore, Director of Creative and Licensing of Gentle Giant Ltd.

“We’ve had a lot of fun making our 1:6th scale collectibles, life-size monuments and even larger than life pieces, but the great thing about digital sculpting is that the product can be any size! So, we are taking it down a few notches to be fun, compact and awesome so you can build new collections quickly, without having to look at adding a wing onto your house for them.” Said Ashly Powell Director of Product Development.

The first wave of new product lines include:

Marvel Micro Bobbles
Fleet Flyers
Enamel Pin
Mini Heroes
Tiny Tin

Wampa Cave / HASCON
« on: August 11, 2017, 06:09:00 AM »
If you are wondering why Hasbro will not be selling their SDCC exclusives this August like they traditionally do - here is the reason:

HasCon is a forthcoming annual fan convention created by Hasbro to promote its various licensed properties, including Transformers, G.I. Joe, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and Magic: The Gathering. It thus replaces the previous fan convention from Fun Publications, BotCon.[1] However, Fun Publications' G. I. Joe Convention continued to be held as of 2017. It was subsequently announced that the first HasCon is scheduled for September 8–10, 2017, at the Rhode Island Convention Center. Meanwhile, Summer Hayes, LLC., which organizes My Little Pony Fair convention, has announced that their convention won't be held for 2017, and would collaborate with HasCon instead.[2]

Wampa Cave / Mark Hamill disliked his role in The Force Awakens
« on: August 11, 2017, 05:55:44 AM »
Earlier this week I found a video on the internet that showed several interviews of Mark Hamill put together showing that he thought everyone had a great role in the movie but himself and he also thought that the death scene for Han was not done the way he thought it should be done.
He thought Leia and Luke should have been involved.   He said that as they did the read through he kept waiting for his entrance and it never came.  I really like his idea of when he thought he should of came in. He said when Rey was in the forest fighting and the lightsaber was flying through the air - he thought he should of been the one to grab it and save the day.  He said he did not understand how Rey with no training was able to fight with the lightsaber when she had never been to Dagobah to train. Not that he should use that as a good example since he is a Dagobah School Drop out.    I am guessing we will figure this out in the next movie and we will see why she is so good with a lightsaber.   He also said that even though a movie makes a lot of money it does not mean it was a good movie.

My family went to Disney World on March break this year.   While there we Built (4) Build a Droids.    Please see attached.   They are Black R2 with Sombrero, White Mixed matched R2 with Star Wars baseball cap, Orange R2 with Mickey Mouse Fantastic Hat and Purple R5 with Star Wars baseball cap.

You are given letter sheets so you can assign a name to each of the Droids and enter it in the black box on the card back.

If you have any Name ideas - please post them.

What does The Forest Rangers have to do with Star Wars? The Forest Rangers was a Canadian Television series that ran from 1963 to 1965.  It was produced by CBC & ITC Entertainment.   It's claim to fame is that it was Canada's first television show produced in colour.

Wampa Cave / Gentle Giant Jumbo Figures - No longer ?
« on: March 30, 2017, 09:18:31 PM »
With Hasbro producing the 6" line with Vintage Card backs - I wonder if Gentle Giant will still be able to produce their Jumbo Retro Figures with Vintage Card backs.   Hasbro seems to be wanting to milk the Vintage card backs for all they are worth.   But as the Hasbro figures get bigger they may see the Gentle Giant Jumbo figures as competition for their own lines.  I guess it depends on how much GG is willing to pay for the rights to use Kenner Vintage Card backs.

Scout Report / HMV going out of Business
« on: January 27, 2017, 10:40:56 PM »
HMV must close all stores by April 30th.  The first round of sales are everything up to 30% off.

Star Wars fans may want to watch the DC's Legends of Tomorrow: Raiders of the Lost Art episode.  It originally aired January 24, 2007.   In this episode the DC team travels back to 1967 and meets George Lucas.  We also learn where George gets the idea for one of his famous scene on the Death Star from the Star Wars a New Hope movie.    :artoo:

Scout Report / Rebel Scum Canada Find Reports
« on: December 23, 2016, 11:25:19 PM »
Just wondering if anyone finds the reports that are being shown on rebel scum's front page troublesome .   By the way full disclosure - I hardly go to rebel scum any more.

Here is the latest one: ( and I am pretty sure there have been other Canadian finds hitting their front page.)

Hasbro: The Black Series Walmart 3 3/4-Inch Sergeant Jyn Erso & Imperial Death Trooper In Stock Online In Canada
Posted by Chad on December 22, 2016 at 08:11 PM CST | Forums currently has The Black Series Walmart Exclusive 3 3/4-inch Sergeant Jyn Erso and Imperial Death Trooper in stock!! Click the links to order yours before they sell out.

Personally, I think Chad should not be posting on the front page of rebel scum a link that states  "Click the links to orders yours before they sell out."  This makes it easy for people surfing the net such as scalpers to easily connect to the purchase page and purchase all the inventory.

So next time you wonder why it's so hard to get Darth Raven or the Imperial Death Trooper or what ever the latest product everyone wants - just thank good old Chad for making you drive around to every store instead of just ordering it on line.

If this thread gets too political please delete it.

Depending on your perspective, you either woke and said  :sign0065: or you rejoiced  :party0007:.   Ether way it was a  :fight: .    So now that we know the winner, I was wondering:

Is TRUMP a Rebel in Washington DC or is he an Emperor of a new Empire?

The book has now been reduced to $180 CDN - 40% off Regular price is $300.   Could go lower. On Amazon they refer to it as a limited edition.  If this is true - the price might go the other way.

I just got this email from an Iceland Watch company and I thought you would all would like the Rogue One Reference.   The guy who runs the store is great and has a lot of stars visit him when they are in Iceland and they usually buy one of his watches and then he post them to people on his mailing list.

Danish Hollywood Actor Mads Mikkelsen

Hannibal and James Bond Villain Mr. Mads Mikkelsen was recently in Iceland filming the Star Wars film Rogue One. He is the newest member in our Hall of Fame section, here he is posing with his new JS Watch on his wrist.
