The Last Jedi (2017-???) / Who was worse - Kylo or DJ
« on: January 11, 2018, 03:46:22 PM »
Having seen it now for the second time and still loving it. :P to you who don't.

Here's the thing, I say that DJ was a much greater villain than Kylo. He tells the First Order how to track the shuttles. He's responsible for the deaths of hundreds. And he does it all for money.

My friend says that Kylo is worse because he kills so many at the end and has truly fallen to the dark side

What are your thoughts?

Also Is DJ in 9? Did he die when the Super Super Star Destroyer was hyperspaced?

Scout Report / Superstore
« on: September 07, 2017, 03:09:11 PM »
The local Superstore is starting to get some TLJ stuff out. I was there at noon and they had:

Force Link: 29.97
Falcon/Death Star Diorama: 39.98
Figure cars: 5.98
Ship cars: 5.98

The lady that was in the department said they have more stuff in the back and will be putting it out. It seems some was delayed in being sent out and a priority was not made to get it on the shelves

Wampa Cave / Star Wars Chocolate Eggs
« on: March 27, 2017, 11:06:42 AM »
On the weekend I stopped by the local Dollar Tree. As I was going through the Easter candy, I found Star Wars Chocolate eggs. And, like a Kinder surprise, it has something inside. There are either heads (Vader, ERG, Boba Fett, R2, 3P0 and Stormtrooper) or erasers. I bought a couple and opened to get:
2 eraser (yawn)
Boba Fett Helmet - which is in size to the 6 inch. Could easily be modified to be on the neck or hollowed out for a head
C-3P0 - totally fit for 6 inch. Nice quality. Perfect for a modification
R2 - It's a half-body like the ones that were in the Jedi Fighters from E3
ERG - It looks like it could be as a bit bigger helmet for a 3 3/4

Check them out. The chocolate isn't even half bad.

Scout Report / Kinder Eggs
« on: May 01, 2016, 12:02:36 PM »
The lovely people at Kinder, who have taken my two loves- Chocolate and toys- and put them together have now made an attempt to make me gain more weight. Inside the new eggs are Star Wars ships and, well, other junk. What I do like about these ships are the heads on them. The Vader head is a perfect size and shine to be cut off and turned unto a custom head. Same for the Yoda.

Check them out. Its Kinder so not the highest quality of toy but still nice to find.

Wampa Cave / If They Made These Packs Would You Buy?
« on: October 03, 2015, 12:08:10 AM »
I've been thinking about all the great figures that have come out in the past 8 years and wish that some would be repacked as sets. Here are some of my ideas for sets. Let me know if you would buy them and if you can think of some you'd like to see:

KOTOR set
HK-47, Mandolore, Bastilla, Revan, Malak, Nihilus, HK-50

Packed as 3 on each side and Revan in the middle to connotate Revan's role. They could pack in a Wookiee for Zaalbar and easily modify Aayla Secura for a Mission.

Bespin set
VC Luke, VC Leia, VC Han, OTC Lando (fixed elbows), VC ESB Boba, BS Vader, BS C-3P0 with netting, BS Chewy

Hoth Set
Legacy Hoth Trooper A and B, VC Trooper, BS Toryn Farr, BS Snowtrooper Commander, 30th Av Snowtrooper, E-Web Gun and Radar Dish Gun

Death Star Set
Legacy Luke and Han Stormtroopers, Legacy Leia Medical with VOTC Leia Head, BS Chewy, Legacy Ben, VC Vader, VC Tarkin

TOR Set
Republic Trooper, Bastila head on Baltar Swan body for Satele, Legacy Hoth Trooper A head on a Cade Skywalker body with a Cad Bane Hat for Nico Okarr, VC Darth Malgus, VC Shae Visla, BS Jawa for Blizz, HK - 47 repainted as HK - 51

Legacy
Legacy Cade (with a different head), Deliliah, TROC Ripcord Head with the Hair and body of Shadow Tracker for Jariah, Kryat, Talon (with articulated elbows and knees), Nihl

Again, let me know your opinions and ideas.

Scout Report / Black Series for Cheap
« on: December 31, 2014, 09:10:31 PM »
Today I finally got into the city (Regina) to do some shopping. After the frustration of Target and Toys R Us, I had to stop at the Sears Bargain Centre (AKA Outlet store). As I wandered around I found about 10 Black series Jabbas on a shelf. I picked it up and saw the sale price was 14.99

Yes- Jabba, MIB (and the box only has the extra sales price on it, otherwise corners and box are great) for 14.99

Then I stopped at London Drugs. There I found a Chopper (FINALLY) and was about to leave when I saw a bunk-end with Series 4 Black 3 3/4. And I mean all of the series. 4 Lukes, 4 Yodas, 5 Bastillas, 2 Dak, 3 Farrs and 4 Snowtrooper Commanders. And they were on for 6.99

Yes - Bastilla - 6.99

I did not buy them all but I got a few for custom sake.

Hope you all can find the deals like me.

Cheers

The Toys - Snowtrooper Reviews! / Black Series Dagobah Luke
« on: November 15, 2014, 02:50:46 PM »
Since Superstore has their Star Wars figs on sale, I thought I would pick up the Dagobah Luke. Boy, am I very disappointed.

When I first saw the pics of this Luke, I thought OK, the head is not bad (Manga-ish with the eyes) but I really liked the possibility for posing and customizing. Here's my take on it:

1. The arms are terrible. They did these on GI Joes, but in most cases it's bulky like behind a jacket and there is not as much articulation as they could be. On bare armed Luke, it just looks too weird. To be honest, when the arms are folded up, he reminds me of a Transformer.

2. Hips - I thought the hips would be ball jointed with a turn line just below, like the 6 inchers. Instead, you have to turn the leg 90 degrees and then turn the knee back if you want to have the legs move forward and back. So instead of functional legs, Luke gets a wide stance, which means he won't fit into most ships.

3. Hips - WTF is up with using a flesh color for the joints. I mean, use something else. brown or black would be better. The knee joint is in beige, why not the hip? When you do the previously mentioned leg swivel, you end up with this strip of flesh coming out of his groin. If you angle it just right, Luke becomes Diphallic. Nice

4. Knees - They spent all that time on crappy elbow articulation and then they give Luke useless knees. They only bend at 30 degrees. even less if you have to turn the legs.

5. Holster - When they made the holster, I'm thinking this was the dialogue:
"Hey let's make a holster"
"OK, made it"
"Did you test it for the gun"
"Ummm. No. But we have done other holsters and they worked"
"Ok, then let's give they this flimsy blaster so that when you try to cram it in the holster it'll bend"
"Ya. let's add a hook to the belt for the liightsaber"
"Great. But don't most lightsabers come with a male peg to attach it to the belt"
"Ahhh, they can just balance they on the hook"
"Awesome. Send it to the factory"

Gahhhhhhh!. It's useless.

And before I get started on the POS Yoda (great head. How about a frickkin' waist so he can turn in the bag like the movie....Calm calm) I'll leave at that.

I think they've gone to the 5POA because it's less likely for them to screw up. Less, but not impossible.

Cheers

Scout Report / 3 3/4 Black Series Collection 3 Available at Giant Tiger
« on: October 30, 2014, 08:34:30 PM »
Stopped by the Giant Tiger today and on a set of 3 pegs were Collection 3 of the Black Series 3 3/4. There were 2 Darth Plageus there as well as every other piece of the collection. And the best part....

$8 each.

I was stoked and thought briefly about snagging both Plageus and then sell them on ebay. And then I decided that I already have 2 (1 opened 1 sealed) and I want some kids to get this great figure.

I'm hoping the 2 pack vehicles that have been showing up at discount places in the States will show up here. Especially after the last 3 years (Clone wars vehicles in 2011, Vintage in 2012 and Movie Dewback and Vulture droid in 2013) when I have been quite surprised by the products that have showed up there.

Cheers!

Wampa Cave / BAD at Disney
« on: July 28, 2014, 07:55:27 PM »
Hey everyone,

Quick question. Did the Disney stores in Canada have the Build a Droid Droid Factory in them. I missed out on them and the closest one to me was in Calgary.

I'm asking now since Hasbro has stated that there will not be any more BAD at the Disney stores.

Also, if anyone has a R6 R8 and an R9, I'm looking

Cheers.

Non-Star Wars Toys / Angry Birds - Transformers
« on: July 24, 2014, 11:22:13 PM »
I popped on to Rebelscum's sister site and saw the latest in Transformers. While I'm not much for the new organic stuff (Robots should look like robots), I did see a few figures that I thought were great. The Arcee from the original story line made me happy.

http://www.cooltoyreview.com/2014-SDCC/san-diego-comic-con-2014-hasbro-transformers/

However, as I scrolled through, I saw something that made my blood turn cold

Angry
Birds
Transformers

OK. It's official. Hasbro has lost it's freakin' mind. All you have to do is go past the Star Wars section with the plethora of AB-SW cap clogging up good collectors space. And now they are trying to push AB transformers.

Way to stretch that license Hasbro. Are you regretting paying for an app that was fun 3 years ago? Nothing says "beating a dead horse" like Hasbro.

Wampa Cave / Upcoming TBS figures
« on: July 13, 2014, 10:16:47 PM »
The boys at JTA and Yakface.com  and BanthaSkull have pooled their rumours and put together what is likely (but not definite) list of upcoming 3 3/4 Black figures

http://www.jeditemplearchives.com/content/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=13861

I can only hope that some of these are produced but given the distribution in Canada, I'm not hoping to collect them all.

Cheers

Here's the list:

R5-G19 (Home One Astromech Droid)
Darth Vader (Yoda's Test)
Luke Skywalker (Wampa Attack)
Darth Malgus (TVC repack)
Starkiller (TVC repack)
Princess Leia Organa (Boussh Disguise)
Captain Rex
Imperial Navy Commander (unknown if this the TVC repack or a "new" gray uniform repaint)
Commander Wolffe
C-3PO (who the heck knows?)
Anakin Skywalker (The Clone Wars) (no details on this....) UPDATE: now LIKELY the TCW and NOT OT related
Commander Thorne
Mosep Binneed
Chewbacca (who the heck knows?) UPDATE: Boushh's prisoner
Commander Doom
Rebel Fleet Trooper (no details on this....) UPDATE: likely the Yavin Medal Bearer JTA revealed in March 2013
Dutch Vander (X-wing Pilot)
Princess Leia Organa (ANH – classic outfit or ceremonial?) UPDATE: most likely ceremonial

Non-Star Wars Toys / Hot Wheels - USS Vengeance
« on: July 11, 2014, 06:04:18 PM »
I popped by our local Walmart and checked out the toy section. Of course there are still the 3 Biggs left and some lightsabers. I was heading out when I saw a Hot Wheels display and front and center was the USS Vengeance. This is the small "dinky car" sized one, but a nice compliment to the Enterprise that came out last year.

Now I could have been a prick and grabbed all three, but instead I bought my one and have it on the shelf with my enterprise. They actually look cool together.

Cheers

Scout Report / Cyber Sale at Sears
« on: July 19, 2013, 11:48:13 AM »
Got an e-mail this morning from Sears about their big sale.
http://www.sears.ca/catalog/cyber-week-star-wars/1836-4294556276-100000085#guidedNav

The Ultimate FX Darth Maul lightsaber caught my attention since I've only seen the cost to make the double blade around $80. And the ATRT at $13 means you can make a full army for cheap.

Scout Report / Headphones at Superstore
« on: April 11, 2013, 08:02:10 PM »
I was at the Superstore today and found in the electronics section Star Wars Headphones. There is Darth Vader and Stormtrooper ones. They're quaint and actually have some good sound. Best part was they were only $15. Now I just need to find the Star Wars theme done disco style.  :party0053:

Also, they have their Star Wars stuff on sale. Figures at 8.37, the transformers for about $10

Happy shopping

Customs / For the true toy geeks out there, have I got a class for you
« on: March 27, 2013, 10:03:28 PM »
Hey Gang;

If you didn't hear, there is a course at SIAST where you learn to make your own action figure.

http://gosiast.com/programs-and-courses/continuing-education/programs.aspx?p=245

Yes, for $300 you can learn how to make and model your own character and then make a mold of it with the 3d printer.

It is in Regina and that might be a hassle for those of you in Toronto, but hey, we can always offer to billet you if you come out.

Cheers
