Off Topic / Third party vendors on amazon.com
« on: January 27, 2014, 11:47:03 AM »
Hello folks,

I thought I let you know of a recent experience I had with amazon.  I found a TVC SW figure for the reasonable price of $9.99 (suggested retail price).  This was being sold by a third-party vendor through amazon.  Although the shipping was quite steep to Canada ($17.00, to be precise), I decided to bite the bullet and get the figure, since it is no longer being sold in Canada, and the price was decent.

Transaction went through without a problem.  The next day, I got an email from the vendor, notifying me that the card had a small crease on one corner - I replied it was ok, since I was planning to open it anyways.

Two days later my transaction got cancelled from the vendor.  To my surprise, the figure got re-listed, this time, 6 times more expensive.  I called amazon, and they told me that vendors could do this, without any penalty.  Also, you can't leave any feedback on cancelled transactions, so I can't even tell the world these guys aren't a serious merchant that are not willing to honour a sale contract.

Disappointing, but now I know better.  Moral of the story - I'll never buy from a third-party vendor via amazon ever again, because it can well be a waste of my time.

The Vintage Collection (TVC) / Sandtrooper VC112
« on: October 17, 2013, 03:24:40 PM »
Finally I got around to open a Sandtrooper I got about a month and a half ago:

This is figure VC112 - I was reluctant to buy it because it seemed to be mostly a re-paint of VC14, but I got a pretty sweet deal on a MOC figure, and since I was going to pay for shipping for other figures anyways, I bought it.

I gotta a say I was pleasantly surprised once I got it, and even more impressed once I got it out of the card.  The painting is absolutely fantastic.

Highly recommended.

Wampa Cave / Clone Trooper
« on: July 10, 2013, 03:17:58 PM »
Just got a carded Clone Trooper (VC15) from some dude that happened to live near me (fig listed on ebay).

I paid $5 for it - a very reasonable price for a never opened, carded figure.  The card was nowhere near mint - it had a pretty pronounced wave and noticeable wear (bubble even had dust all over it!).  Whatever, I bought it to open it up anyways (although I do keep the cards).

So I opened it (with an exacto knife) - the card was factory sealed.  To my dismay, there was no blaster included with the figure! clearly a factory error, although I wish I had realize that before opening it.

Oh well...

Just received a cantina band member action figure that I purchased from ebay.  I saw the listing and thought it was a cool figure, but I failed to do my research before buying (my bad).  I must confess I'm kind of disappointed.  I knew about the silliness of including all band instruments with the figure, so that if you wanted to build up the band, you'd end up with a bunch of instruments you don't really need.  Whatever, that didn't bother me too much.  What I didn't know (and probably most of you do) is that the figure has two major flaws:

1) can't stay standing and keeps falling off (I guess I got the drunk band member);
2) no matter how you arrange his hands, none of the instruments would fit as musical instruments.

I mean, if you're an action figure and you can't stand and you can't properly hold any of your accessories, well, then you suck.

I'll keep it around for a few days, but I think I may just sell it at a loss...

Feedback O-T / The Mike - BHT
« on: June 21, 2013, 01:04:13 AM »
Visited Bounty Hunter Toys for the first time yesterday, what a cool store.  Briefly chatted with Mike, a very nice guy.

Got a couple of figures, which I think were very reasonably priced.  Definitely coming back again.

Highly recommend it to anyone residing or visiting the GTA.

Off Topic / Snowtroopers.ca - Canadian Stores
« on: June 10, 2013, 10:43:57 AM »
Hi there,

my apologies if this is the wrong way of providing feedback, but I couldn't find an email address anywhere on this forum.

Two observations for the "Canadian Stores" section:

1) Toys Etc (at Millcroft Shopping Centre) no longer exists.  Did a quick search on google and couldn't find a new location, so I'm guessing that is gone.

2) Silver Snail has moved to a new location (see http://www.silversnail.com/):

329 YONGE ST
TORONTO ON

Regards...

Scout Report / Winners - VC figures
« on: May 22, 2013, 12:19:15 AM »
I guess today was a very lucky day for me: first I ran into Bastila Shan at Homesense (http://www.snowtroopers.ca/forum/index.php?topic=22165.msg206356;topicseen#new), then later in the day I had to stop at Winners to get something for one of my kids.  While I was in line ready to pay, I found a Rebel Soldier (VC68)! $9.99 + tax. It was the only VC figure there.  The interesting thing is that I had never seen VC figures at this particular Winners (is very close to my house), and I usually check it often, which leads me to believe that there are still some vintage figures in storage.

So keep your eyes peeled if you swing by Winners...
