Customs / Custom Jaina "Sticks" Solo X-Wing Pilot
« on: February 23, 2014, 02:20:27 PM »
Just a quick and easy headswap of Jaina Solo's head onto a Plouur Ilo body. The helmet even fits on the hair! :D

Customs / Adding joints to characters without them
« on: February 23, 2014, 02:13:15 PM »
Specifically, the more spindly limbed females (SOTE Comic Pack Leia, and CW Ventress for these examples)

I found this Leia at the flea market for a dollar, but the lack of elbows really bugged me. I had a few Revoltech figures in the past, and liked the ball joint articulation they had, so i found a package of replacement joints on ebay, cut the arms about where i imagined the elbow would be, then drilled holes into the segments, inserted the ends of the joint and presto!

No pics yet, but i did the same thing to the CW Ventress this morning as well. (the one with the Dooku Hologram) She was simpler to do because of the swivel forearms. I just popped those off, cut the arms a bit higher up to reduce any monkey arm potential, and did the same as i did with Leia. Took all of 5 minutes (not counting shipping time from ebay for the joints LOL)

Customs / Question about previous TIE Interceptors...
« on: October 26, 2010, 10:34:26 PM »
Hi all, I was wondering if the solar panels from older TIE Interceptors would work on the newer cockpit used for the latest Interceptors and TIE Fighters. Basically i want to get a set and turn my Eyeball into a Royal Guard Interceptor. The paint i can always do later.

4
Was the TIE Pilot included with this supposed to have the "Ace" stripes on the helmet, like on the Evolutions TIE Pilot, or just unmarked like on the TIE Interceptor Pilot?

I just noticed on both mine, and the one in Rebelscum's Photo archive, they have the Ace stripes, but is noted as NOT having them.

Just found this over at Sandtroopers, by way of Galactic Hunter.

http://www.galactichunter.com/absolutenm/anmviewer.asp?a=8911&z=2

Slave 1's over 18 inches long!!! And i thought the Y-Wing was HUGE...:o

Seemed kind of inevitable though, being as 1) It's one of the few vehicles needing to be redone from ESB, and 2) It was rather prominent in the Season finale.

What kind of worries me is the pricetag. Brand new Slave 1, Jedi Starfighter, repacks of Mace, Anakin and R2 (twice if you count the repaint for Mace's Astromech) Bossk and Boba. That, and it only being at TRU. Slave 1 itself looks awesome though! :fett: :fett: :fett:

Lego / Custom Lego Twi'lek figures
« on: February 03, 2010, 07:47:45 PM »
Not 100% sure where to put this, but i found this on Galactichunter.com and thought i'd take a look.

http://www.arealightcustoms.com/

They make custom printed torsos and heads of Twi'lek females from the saga (Ay Vida, Lyn Me, Oola, Aayla Secura, and Darth Talon so far)

I bought the parts for Aayla (headdress, head and torso). If they hadn't had a minimum $10 US before shipping order policy, i would have just bought parts for Darth Talon. If anyone's interested, I'll post a review when i get them. :)

Customs / Juno Eclipse from The Force Unleashed
« on: November 18, 2008, 10:31:51 PM »
Heya, just thought i'd post a couple WIP shots of Juno Eclipse, using Ice. I got the tunic done the other night, and almost had it the way i wanted on the first try too LOL. But then i got looking at it, and the tunic wasn't long enough. She looked more like Jedi Luke before the Death Star duel.

I tried making the code cylinder by tearing apart another headphone plug, but it didn't quite turn out how i wanted, and the sleeves looked a little on the short side, so i ripped the sleeves off, slit it up the middle to make it easier to work with, then sew up an overtunic that was longer (basically i copied hasbro's idea for Count Dooku, since he's got the only Imperial-style uniform in my collection...note to self, track down a Tarkin! :lol )
I would have let it go after i fixed the tunic, but then i got looking at Juno some more, and decided to go with the Cardback artwork for her, since i thought the cleavage strip they cut out of her tunic for the ingame model was more than a little gratuitous (Jungle Girl Shaak Ti notwithstanding) That meant making the cap.

This was my first attempt at the cap, and it took me since Friday to get THIS far. I was tempted to leave it like that and worry about the rank badge, but it started to bug me, so i added the other flaps that fold up and make it look properly. Now all that's left to do is add the rank badge, and the ornament to the hat itself and it should be finished! :D
(well apart from taking pics of the final outfit that is LOL)

Customs / I'm Ahsoka, Master Yoda sent me...(pic heavy)
« on: September 15, 2008, 02:03:51 AM »
Hi everyone, I just wanted to share my latest bash with you. I got the idea when i first saw the Clone Wars bobbleheads from Mcdonald's. Then i was browsing around and saw Findswoman had a nude Shaak Ti on her trade list, and it got me to thinking (i know...scary thought  :) ) Two weeks of going to all the nearby Mcdonald's to see if they had the Ahsoka bobblehead in yet later, i finally got a pair of them (just in case i totally destroyed one dismantling it)

Anyway, here's the result...I think i might have to get some darker red material to remake her tube top, skirt and then also some forearm guards...but so far so good i think.

Here's a pic of the source material, in case anyone hasn't yet seen her:

and to begin, the rough WIP shot that i posted in my other thread about the bobbleheads. I did this just to see how close the head was, scale wise (which worked surprisingly well) :

And now some more shots of the outfit that i did tonight...I had to borrow the lightsaber hilt from a Hoth Luke, but for now it works.

There's still some work to be done on the outfit, and i need to make some forearm guards, and maybe make the lightsaber hilt from scratch, but for now i think it turned out ok.

Customs / Another use for the Mcdonald's SW Bobbleheads
« on: September 12, 2008, 07:51:43 PM »
I went out and got a Boba Fett one for the sole purpose of seeing if it'd fit on a 1/6 scale figure. (I've been on a Mandalorian bender the last couple weeks...don't ask...)

It doesn't look like much, but after you remove it form the ship (just a little rocking from side to side) and then a lot of grinding and cutting with a dremel, and breaking out the inner pins holding it together with pliers...(luckily i didn't have to glue mine back together.)

You wind up with a serviceable Mandalorian helmet! And it's not really that far out of scale from the last Hasbro 12 inch Boba Fett (the "Vintage OTC" version) Here it is on a Power Team body (thought I'd kill two birds with one stone, and introduce the world to Mini RtB! MWAHAHAHAHA!!! (btw, Thanks to Hazardisone for the figure and the trenchcoat...)

As you can see i got a little TOO close with the dremel when i was grinding down the inner pins on the helmet. :( Oh well, just Battle Damage! LOL :p

And now, some gratuitous shots of Mini Me...

For anyone who's been wanting it, here's a nice closeup shot of the lightsaber i made from a guitar plug (1/4 inch phono plug...you can get a 2 pk of em at Radio Shack, or Circuit City, wherever you can get electronic components and such...i tore it all apart and reassembled it how i wanted to)

Figures...even without the helmet he has more luck with the ladies than I do :(

I think this shot really highlights the resemblance to me...i'm just weird LOL...<br /><br />

oddly enough Lex didn't seem to wanna beat him down like she does me...(sighs) Enjoy!  :)

*UPDATE*

Just wanted to give everyone an update...the regular bobbleheads seem to work well on 1/6 bodies as well.. at least Ahsoka's does...Here's a WIP shot of Ahsoka...Thanks a million to Findswoman for the Shaak Ti body! :D

Customs / Hand sewn Han Solo outfit
« on: November 10, 2007, 05:26:44 PM »
Hey folks, I haven't posted here in what seems like forever, but i've sorta gotten away from Star Wars the last little while. Anyway, I was stuck for an idea to make for a kitbash competition on another board, and then it hit me, why not do Han Solo? The only snag is, i used one of my Cy Girls, as the only Han i have is my MIB Hoth Han. I could have gone with Jaina Solo or something else, but i figured this would just work better. I'll let the pics speak for themselves. Please keep in mind this is the first time i've ever sewn anything this complex.

And just since i didn't have a 12 inch Greedo for her to shoot first ;) , Here's a couple shots of her with my KB Chewie.

(Sorry, i couldn't resist a "Laugh it up, Fuzzball!" shot  :rollfloorlaffsmiley: )

And just because BIG Chewie can't exactly go Trick or Treating with her, she's STILL got a co-pilot for those treacherous Candy runs down Kessel St. :P (the KB stuffed figures seem to be just perfect size...go figure)

And if you don't like my sewing, here's what SHE has to say about it:

"WHO'S "Scruffy looking"?!" :rollfloorlaffsmiley:

UPDATE:

Just in case anyone wanted to see more detail, i finally got around to taking some more pics of her. I'm still getting the hang of my digicam, so i apologize if the focus isn't the best.

Just a close up shot of the collar, even though it's longer on the left side than the right.

Closeup shot of her Co-Pilot for those candy runs down Kessel Street.  ;D

Since i was hand sewing everything, i didn't take as much time as i should have to sew up the edges to keep from fraying... The vest is made from a piece of microfiber cloth taken from an old trenchcoat i'd worn out (nothing like old clothes for spare cloth...cheaper too!  ;D )

Just as an aside, Aurora is one of my favorite CG headsculpts

A Closeup of the cheat i did on the Bloodstripes. It would have taken me forever if i'd cut the red strip into the tiny red dashes that made up the original.

Now a shot of the shirt...amazing what sins the Vest hides! LOL. I didn't use a pattern for any of the outfit. I simply cut the cloth in rectangles, measured to the width of the figures shoulders and hips (stretchy cloth is your friend especially here...you just have to make sure that if it's 2 way stretch, ie: most regular Tshirt material, that you have it oriented so it stretches the way you need it to  ;D )

Now the Right side, which turned out a bit better. I wasn't planning on the shirt to show off as much belly as it does, but on her, it doesn't hurt  ;D

Now a shot of the vest, turned inside out, just to show you the basic shape i went with. Just a simple rectangle, folded double, stitched up the sides, then the front cut down the middle and a neck clipped out with scissors. Brain dead simple and nearly impossible to screw up :D   Also shows off the fact i could reverse the fabric and resew it and it'd be a totally different look altogether.

Now the vest right side out. I know i didn't do the pockets and stuff that the original had, but i was pressed for time, and most of the time, pockets at 1/6 just look weird to me. Just another judgment call

Another closeup shot of the collar and shoulders.

Shot of the other Bloodstripe and also the Holster from Hoth Luke (I'd cut it off the hoth luke belt for a Jedi Luke custom i did months ago), attached to the Joanna Dark belt with some copper wire. Also thought the stitched up pantleg would add to the "scruffy looking spacer" look i was going for...(actually i'd nicked the material when i was cutting it and i figured the ripped jeans look was too early 90s  ;D  )

same again, just a bit wider angle. You can't see in the shot, but i took a drill bit and gave the DL-44 a bore as well, but i haven't gotten around to touching up the muzzle with silver paint, so all you see is a black spot :(

Hope you like it! :)

Feedback H-N / Iceman
« on: November 10, 2007, 04:16:12 PM »
Met up with Iceman at Mulvey today to sell a VTAC Snowtrooper. Great guy. Emailed me last night to notify me of a potential snag, but we managed to work around it. Hate to sound like ebay feedback, but he's a good guy! LOL :)`

So, is anyone else kinda let down that Darth Krayt is really A'Sharad Hett? I mean yes, it sort of echos Palpatine Vs Yoda, especially if they have a showdown between K'Kruhk and Krayt, but couldn't they have done something really outta the blue, "No...*I* am your Father" sorta twist, like have it be Obiwan and Ventress's kid or something?

Hear me out...According to the Comics, towards the end of the clone wars, Obiwan was convinced Ventress could be turned back to the light...in theory, they could have come together on Tattooine while luke was growing up, Ventress finally finding out about Luke, then either attacking him or Obiwan, with obiwan either killing her or driving her off, forcing her to leave the kid with Jawas, or Tuskens or something...now that i read it it doesn't make much sense, but it's just a theory, and it would have been more of a twist than some Old fossil from the Clone Wars :p

Just my 2 Cents....i was really almost hoping for Nom Anor though...but then he'd probly be more like Palpatine in terms of mindset

(sorry about the spoiler color, i don't know how to make it only show up if you highlight it)

Computer Talk / Power supply crapped out...need help!
« on: July 10, 2007, 04:01:34 AM »
I dunno if anyone can help me here, but it can't hurt to ask. I've got a Power Mac G4 Tower (Mirror Drive Door, 1.25 Ghz, single processor) And it just up and quits on me sunday night. Just flicked off like someone pulled the plug. I'm pretty sure at this point it's the power supply though, as I checked the outlet, and it's fine. I moved the plug around on the power strip, everything else works. I crack open the case, and aside from it being dusty, nothing out of the ordinary. No fried electronics smell, didn't even smell that warm the way they can get. I got some compressed air from walmart today and blew out any and all crap i could find in there, still nothing works. I've taken out add in cards (just usb2/firewire combo and a straight usb1 card) I've even tried moving the ram around just to make sure everything's seated in properly, and still nothing. I've even tried a different power cord.  Does anyone know anyplace in Winnipeg that sells just the power supply? Thanks in advance.
