Customs / BlasTech DH17 Blaster Project
« on: August 19, 2011, 07:51:33 PM »
Goodday all, I wanted to share my photo of a labour of love I just completed. Some of you may remember I posted a ways back a 'dollar store' smallish DH17? Anyway, It inspired me to take on building from scratch a 'full size' replica (I mean the full almost 19" long). This thing was made from dollar store stuff to Lowe's hardware items. Anyway, here it is and if anyone's interested, I can post the method to this madness.

Enjoy,

Wampa Cave / Photobucket isn't very 'Private'
« on: December 18, 2010, 07:41:52 AM »
I've been finding my Photobucket pics on websites all over the internet lately? Wierd or what? No big deal I suppose, there's nothing in my Photobucket that I truly care about, but, I find it strange that I have a username and password for my account on there and my pics are public domain anyway? I suppose that was something in the 'small print' that I agreed to when I started the account. So, I guess it's safe to say, if you don't want certain pics 'out' on the internet, don't put them on Photobucket I guess....

Customs / Hasbro Boba Fett Helmet Modification: NOW COMPLETED
« on: October 01, 2010, 10:27:13 PM »
So, I've taken on modding a Hasbro helm. Everybody hates that huge visor and I knew I could do something about it. It is a work in progress and the biggest challenge was 'squinting' out the visor. Here's some pics of the progress thus far. I will post pics as it gets further along:

original visor

visor with almost 3/4" removed

internal with front structures removed

Side by side view

The second helmet will be modded as well. I plan on 'squinting' it more than the first one. I'll keep posting progress on this mod.

The Toys - Snowtrooper Reviews! / Bespin Cloud Car
« on: September 19, 2010, 07:59:57 AM »
Well, I was going to pass on this ship, but, this week's TRU sale landed me this vehicle. I wanted the Boba Fett Blaster Rifle, so, I got that and then picked up the Cloud Car for 50% off. It is normally $35. This, in my opinion is too much for this ship. I was, however, pleased to pay half. The price point on this should have been slightly over $20. Anyway, despite the price, it's a rather cool ship. VERY well detailed and chock full of 'action' details.

Pros
1) very detailed dual cockpits
2) nice thin glass canopies
3) detailed front landing gear on each pod front (a bonus would have been matching rear landing gear, as it simply sits on a slight skid in the rear)
4) pushing the pods towards the centre of the boom reveals hidden missle launching bays, this is quite cool and actually believable as a feature for this type of ship.
5) crisp panel lines and rear 'spoilers' on each pod
6) nice paint motiff
7) nice engine compartments to hide goodies

Cons
1) Expensive at $34.99
2) kooky break apart feature to have two attack pods
3) dual missiles in centre boom (maybe out of place for this ship, but they aren't too gaudy)

Now, I need to score 2 x pilots for this ship!

Jedi Archives / Episode 1 Anakin Skywalker
« on: August 26, 2010, 06:28:12 PM »
Ok, I have a wierd situation. I got a loose/used Naboo Starfighter a few years back from Ebay and it came with an Anakin (little kid version with helmet). I assumed all these years that this was the figure that was included with the ship. Now, just recently, I realized looking at Rebelscum/Naboo Starfighter that this ship came with NO figure at all!! So, where does this Anakin with moulded on/NON removable helmet come from?? He's stamped 1998 and I cannot find him anywhere in the E1 listings on Scum. Anyone?

Wampa Cave / Clone Wars ep21 Easter Egg (May be a Spoiler)
« on: March 16, 2009, 11:08:11 AM »
SPOILER if you have not seen the epi yet......

Anybody notice that on epi 21 (last of the 3 part Ryloth series - Liberty on Ryloth) that the droids are loading the 'Arc of the Covenant' on Wat Tambor's ship? Neat little Lucasfilm nod here. (happens about 12.5 mins into the episode).

Non-Star Wars Toys / Sunrise Records Sale
« on: November 28, 2008, 07:20:40 AM »
I'm not usually into the 6"-7" McFarlanes, ReelToys, Diamond Select etc. but, for those who are, you really should check out Sunrise Records (heres a link for locations: http://www.sunriserecords.com/locations/ ) Wicked prices. They are doing things like 2 for $10 on Harry Potter, Pirates of the Carib. etc, 50% off lots of 300 figs and other big movie characters. Very impressed with these prices. They store is normally 'right out'of'er' with their gross prices, but this sale scored me 4 figures I never would have purchased (David from Lost Boys $10, Beowulf $10, Harry Potter $5 and Death Eater $5). Nice friggin' figs. Even better price.
