Wampa Cave / Netflix-The Toys That Made Us
« on: December 26, 2017, 06:56:12 AM »
Just found a show on Netflix last night called The Toys That Made Us.  4 Episodes I believe and the history of the toys that kids grew up on.  The first focusing on Star Wars. All the major brands turning down the movie rights till Kenner picked it up through to the sale of Lucasfilm to Disney and the new movies.

Some great interviews with the guys who designed the vintage SW lines of toys.

But not George....

« on: November 25, 2017, 03:55:05 PM » has the following:

-BB-8 playset: $209.97
-Canto speeder: $31.47
-Tie Silencer: $52.47
-Boosted X-wing: $55.97
-Force link with trooper set: $41.97
Plus many other price drops.

Too bad the Force Link Trooper/Praetorian Guard is not in stock and thus not possible to order...  :shakehead:

By the way, anyone knows if it's possible to have a rain check at TRU in store to get an item for the sales price when it's not in stock? Just wondering if I should get one for this set...

If the instore price is the same, then yes you can get a raincheck for a regular sale item.  1 day or 2 day type sales or midnight madness type of promotions are not eligible, but normal flyer items are (20% off all Star Wars etc.).  But it only guarantees you the price for 45 days, not that you actually get the item.  Also, they don't call if they happen to get more instock at this time of year.

It was great right up till she was wearing armour.  It looked a little big for her.  I was actually hoping for some kind of sweet romantic ending...

These look like articulated versions of the Infinity characters.

I can imagine them moving in a direction similar to IKEA where they have few large stores that folks would have to travel to access coupled with more numerous smaller outlets folks can use to order & pick up items, as well as view or purchase a very limited supply of things they'd keep on hand.

They actually have already done this.  The Toys R Us Express stores (mostly in Ontario) all closed 3 years ago as a cost cutting measure.  I ran one in Keswick which the customers loved and was doing great.  They swung the axe at all of them rather than just the ones that were under performing.

I doubt we'll see their return unfortunately.

Costco is apparently getting 2 3packs and 2 4 packs of TLJ pops.  Not all of them, but almost all of them.  Hopefully it's the Canadian Costcos, not just the ones in the U.S.

There's also a ton of chase exclusives that will be tough to track down in Canada....

Or maybe they received instructions from Hasbro that it's ok to put the stuff out early.  Working at TRU for 10 years, this happened more often than not with street dated merch.  SW, GI Joe, Transformers etc, when movie related was street dated and would go out early if either Hasbro gave the ok, or the suits at head office sent the word to put it out. While I'm sure from time to time it is done in error, it's not always just the "dumbass employees".

I actually find your post and comment offensive to just lump together and assume everyone who works for minimum wage at retail as stupid and morons.  Maybe you'd prefer to do their job as they are obviously incompetent at it and should just go on unemployment or welfare and drain the system rather than pay into it.

The next R1 wave of Galen, Weeteef, Death Star Droid (black) and Young Jyn has shown up at EB Games.  $12.99, $11.50 with the platinum membership.

Yeah.  I got a notification from funkotree on insta that it was up for pre-order so I did one to have shipped to my ex brother in law in Buffalo.  Still shows as "getting ready to be shipped".  Not sure what that means for my chances of getting it...

I ended up going to two stores to find one.  The first had 7 and sold out quickly.  The second, which the staff at the first checked inventory for me, showed 10, but when I got there I could only spot 5.

These are going to go quickly if the hooded luke was any indication.

This is more like an unadvertised sale price to clear the pegs for the new stuff coming in September.  I wouldn't be surprised to see stuff starting to show up at Winners and other secondary resellers as the big box retailers try to unload stuff sitting in warehouses.

I would actually think that it's either collectors or scalpers.  When I moved to Keswick, I thought for sure I was the only collector around.  Turns out there are at least 4 just in my neighbourhood.  I listed some items on Kijiji and one of the buyers lived the next street over....

Red 5 standing by.  (That's means I'd be in...)

The Walmart exclusive Funkos are all available online.  7th Sister, 5th Brother, Inquisitor and the ROTS 3 pack.
