The Vintage Collection (TVC) / Re: TVC - Jabba's sail Barge!!!!!

I believe that if they get close they will seriously consider making this thing. If it only climbs to 3500-4000 I don't think they will build it. Unfortunately, the past week has seen a series decline in backers. Hopefully people start backing more in the last 2 weeks.

Even worse, the  numbers dropped overnight - from 2670.  We're now only at 2658. Blehhhhhhh...

I've already backed 3 of them....I'm willing to go all in for the full 5 limit in the last couple of days  if it helps make this a reality so I can have at least one to own.

I'm going to go in to a deep depression if I never own one. Every time I will go into a Toys R Us Walmart I'm going to cry when the only stuff available to purchase is 5POA stuff.

And to further support the barge project, I'm willing to let Ian pay for four more for me beyond the one I backed.  I might even let him keep one!

For what it's worth, I spoke to one of my friends who works at TRU  Apparently there was a nationwide call today and they were told that none of the Canadian stores were closing (though who knows if that was just an attempt to reassure people).

And now, could you believe that they are showing up at Dollarama... With Finn/Plasma two pack too.

Hello.  I will probably be ordering one.  Would anyone know if the Barge is sent to Canadians from Hasbro's Canadian address in Quebec OR do Canadians have to pay an import tax, if shipped directly from Hasbro in the US?  Bye.

Not sure if this has been answered.  I called customer service, lady told me the plan is to ship out the Canadian orders through the warehouse in Canada.  Therefore whatever you pay at checkout (shipping and your provonical tax), should be your final cost.  There shouldn't be any import tax on top.

Edit: Spelling

Phew!  I had ordered already, but that was a nerve-wracking uncertainty in the back of my head.  Glad to hear that we're not going to get dinged.

Well....I've done my part. I ordered 3 Sail Barges.  One to keep in the box, one to open and display, ..............and one just in case! :D (SNL reference).

Mine are 2306, 2307, and 2308 on the HasLab counter.

With 30 days left, they need to pre-sell on average 90 per day.  A week ago, it was 82 per day. Hopefully, collectors out there who haven't bought yet will do so soon to keep up the pace.

I wonder if Trudeau backed the Barge?!

Only 3, Ian?  Come on, man... the limit is 5.  You're good for two more, right? ;)

It did blow up CJ. It took me 10 minutes to see info from JTA.
Ookk, l saw your post on JTA and can I say, you spoke for all us Canadians with your comments. Well said!  :u:

Thanks, DD. It's certainly frustrating.  Don't get me wrong, it's not like I've got $500 USD lying around to drop on every random thing that comes up, but for an opportunity like this you find a way, whether via budgeting, advance birthday gift support ("Hey, mom and dad... I know it's not for a few months... but...") or even selling off some items of lesser interest in the collection.  But I guess it's a moot point so far.

P.S.  I like the word "moot".

One minute till the news! :artoo:

"Here are some awesome images of the Barge you can't buy, Canadians!"

I'm almost sure I can get contacts in Saginaw, Michigan to order but they would 100 percent need the money up front. Non-negotiable. I would also be willing to go get them as these are good friends and I'm always up for a visit. I will ask today & get a firm answer.

Hey JJ...  keep me posted about this (if you're still open to the idea and if the international ordering possibility doesn't open up).

Am reading on Fwoosh that the 6" Gammorean Guard is going to be a Target exclusive?!?  WTF? Hasbro doesn't like making scads of money apparently. Did they forget just how in-demand the 3.75" TVC GG was or something?

...if that's accurate...   :sign0065:

I'd be down for pre-ordering one... I have wanted to own the Khetanna since I was a kid.  I watched and rewatched the Jabba sequence until the VHS tape got messed up, and to see that we cannot back this simply because we are in Canada is heartbreaking.  Even if it gets made, the after-market scalper price will be astronomical.  I can't really afford it at the $500 USD plus shipping tag, but I would still find a way at that price... advance birthday money, dip into savings, whatever.

Just...  such a bittersweet thing. :(

Yeah, it's pretty brutal.  I wish they wouldn't include those sellers on the page.  If I wanted to pursue such avenues I'd go to ebay or kijiji; give me the Walmart stock and an accurate representation of what to expect in stores.

Ebgames has a $500 TFA "Rey's scavaged helmet" up for sale.  Would anyone really want this at this price ?

It's pretty awesome looking... I just don't know that, at this stage in my financial game, it's FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS awesome.
