Full trailer, for anyone still looking:

Coming tomorrow, apparently.

Scout Report / Re: TRU figure prices increased
« on: March 28, 2016, 11:29:30 PM »
Anyone else actually kind of, I dunno, sad about this?
$10 is basically my limit on my disposable income purchases for this kind of thing. I didn't mind the 5POA figures when they first came out and cost ~$6, but $11 is just something I can't justify any more.
So, I'm sad. Sad because my lifelong hobby is now over. I've collected since I was 12, nearly 30 years ago but I think this is it. I used to buy one of everything, but that's steadily decreased over the years.
Wow. I'm just really starting to get depressed as I type this. I mean, a 40 year old man stopping buying toys shouldn't really be a big deal, but ... man.
I suppose I'll just be dumping more money in to NHL 16 on my PS4 now :(

Walmart Employee #1: "Say, we got any more Star Wars toys in the back? We've sold everything we've got."
Walmart Employee #2: "Quick, Now's our chance! Grab that dusty old box of crap Phantom Menace toys and stick it on the shelves!"
Walmart Employee #1: "Yeah! You're on to something..."
Walmart Employee #2: "Those grandparents shopping for Christmas gifts won't know the difference."

I went out today looking to see if anything new might have been stocked now that the movie's been released, but I found nothing in Ottawa. In fact, I found very little at all. I though to myself, "I hope no kids want a Rey or Kylo Ren action figure for Christmas" ... I pity the parents trying to scramble to find something now.

Scout Report / Re: Amazon deals
« on: December 18, 2015, 03:19:28 PM »
How much was the mask Sam? I just got one at TRU on sale today for ~$65, which seemed like a good deal. Wondering if I missed out on something better on Amazon.
They're currently selling for over $200 on Amazon marketplace (?!), so I feel pretty good about my purchase right now :-p

I loved it. Since it twice already. I didn't care much for the 3D version because I kept wanting to look at the edges of the screen to see the details, but things got too distorted.

It's very different in style to the prequels and, really, even the OT. It was very obviously a JJ Abrams, to me, but still very much a Star Wars movie. I'd rank this as probably my #3 favourite Star Wars film right now. Maybe #2. I'll have to let it sink in a bit, but really, I have only positive things to say about it right now.

Well, maybe one negative thing ... I can't believe I have to wait 2 years to find out what happens!

Well, I'm back. :-)

Loved the movie. Just bought a ticket to go see it again at 10:00AM tomorrow. :)

It's actually not that bad of a commercial. The toys look cool :-p

Today is my last day visiting my regular blogs, forums and news sites. I'm unplugging as much as possible for the next week, to avoid any last-minute spoilers. I can imagine as more people start seeing TFA, more spoilers will leak.

See you on the other side :-)

Scout Report / New Black Series 3.75" found at Walmart
« on: December 02, 2015, 09:01:49 PM »
I was in an ********* Walmart this evening and found a bunch of 3 " black series figures including a Rey, Poe Dameron, Finn and Endor Han... None of which I even knew existed. $15 each, so I didn't buy any. Cool, though.

EDITED: Hid the location to avoid having them pillaged by scalpers - specific store locations can be posted in the Provincials please! - jj

Wampa Cave / Re: The Force Awakens Opening Night - Who's going and where?

One of the supposed advancements that spurred the recent revival of 3D movies was that modern 3D movies do not exhibit reduced brightness compared to 2D presentation. The brightness of the 3D movie is intended to be higher to compensate for lenses on the glasses.
However, most (all?) theaters intentionally lower the brightness of their projectors in order to extend their lifespan. So, you end up getting a degraded experience.

Personally, I don't actually believe 3D movies are more popular. I believe it's the theater owners who are capitalizing on the popularity of some movies to schedule showings exclusively in 3D in order to coerce customers to "chose" to pay the premium for 3D projections.

I've got 4 tickets at the Landmark in Orleans (Ottawa) for the 17th in 2D. I'm happy they're offering 2D (seem to be just about the only one), but I'm a bit concerned that I wasn't able to get reserved seating for that showing. I really didn't want 3D because my kids can't sit through a 2hr+ movie with those crappy glasses on. But, I would have really liked to have gotten reserved seats.

Scout Report / Re: Target now shipping to Canada
« on: October 22, 2015, 10:01:47 AM »
Whelp, I added an 18" Captain Phasma toy to my cart ($27 after exchange, not too bad) and proceeded to check out. $31 for Canada Post shipping (!) plus $7.something for taxes & fees. Worked out to ~ $65.
