Hmm ... anyone tried to get a retroactive price match on any of their Force Friday purchases?
I just checked the TRU.ca retroactive pricematch guarantee and they now claim to adjust prices only 14 days after purchase. My memory is that this used to be 30 days, at least. Anyway, Sept. 4 was over 2 weeks away, so I wonder if they'll adjust my FF purchases.

EDIT: Lame, their return policy is still 45 days. Why would they make their price adjustment period shorter than their return length? I could just return & re-buy everything at the lower price :-/

They had two but both had the tape cut and another piece on top

Oh, that's interesting ... mine was like this too. But, the TIE pilot insert was backwards in the box. I actually made the TRU staff open it up for me to make sure all the pieces were in there. Probably whomever opened my box put the little guy back in backwards.

Found a TIE Fighter today. Bought it. Very happy with it.  :)

I'm curious, has anyone seen the Force Awakens X-Wing, Tie Fighter or 5POA 2-packs at retail in Canada yet?
Not sure if I've missed out so far, or if they haven't been released yet.

Looks like someone didn't get the memo :-(

Fortunately, another Walmart nearby and the Toys R Us had plenty of stuff that we didn't let it get us down, but it was a pretty big bummer.

I took the afternoon off to take my 5 year old son shopping. We were really excited.

Here's what we found at the Walmart:

Wampa Cave / Sticker Shock - International Edition
« on: August 20, 2015, 09:12:23 PM »
I just got home from a little European vacation and thought I'd share some of what I saw.

I visited Ireland, Denmark and England and if you think we have things bad here in Canada, you really need to visit Europe! Most stores had very little stock and what they did have, was incredibly expensive.

In Ireland, Saga Legends seemed to run about 10 Euro ($15) and were, overall, the best prices I saw. 25% tax is included, so it's not *that* bad.
In England, I had a hard time finding much of anything but, in Hamleys, in London, I found some Mission Series 2-packs and they were 13 British Pounds each ($27!).
Denmark takes the cake, however. Mission Series were 150 DKK ($30) and Saga Legends were 100 DKK ($20). FWIW, Copenhagen is by far the most expensive city I've ever visited. It seemed like $5 was their minimum price for anything (a cup of coffee, a bus ticket, international stamp, etc.)

To me, the most interesting thing about these prices was that, when I did find toys, they were the same pegwarmers we see here too. So, regardless of the price, someone is buying these things!

I'm going to pull a few salient bits from that article and post it here for those who are spoiler adverse and just want the short summary of what he says

Thank you for doing this. I appreciate it.

Wampa Cave / On Force Friday, what should I expect?
« on: August 19, 2015, 12:19:46 PM »
So, I've gotten over my sticker shock (see http://www.snowtroopers.ca/forum/index.php?topic=23319.0) and I've decided to treat myself, have some fun and buy a whole bunch of toys.
Unfortunately, I've made so odd choices lately including completely avoiding mostly anything spoiler-related which means I haven't read any reports about what to expect in stores on Force Friday.

Can anyone help me out with my budgeting?

I'd like to pick up everything 3.75" even if it's 5POA. Anyone know how many distinct figures are expected to be available initially?

So I'm browsing Rebelscum and I see a post with some price stickers for TFA stuff and it suddenly occurred to me that Hasbro may have finally priced itself out of my reach. $10 for 5PA? $15 for black series? I just can't to that. Maybe one or two ever, but certainly not 20+ of these.

I've been a little out of the loop on pricing lately since there hasn't been much for me to buy this year, but these are shocking prices. This sucks too 'cause my son has really gotten in to playing with collection and I was looking forward to adding a bunch of new stuff next month. There's just no way I can afford this.

Anyway, I'm legitimately upset by this and just wanted to vent a little.

I should do this too. Honestly, I've lost track. There's a bunch of figures that I vaguely remember seeing in various previews and galleries, but I have no idea which ones have been released somewhere. There's a Toys R Us next to my grocery store, so I check it once a week and I can't remember the last Star Wars figure that I purchased. It's been months and I have no idea what I'm missing.

Normally, I'd have been spending probably around $40 a month on Star Wars stuff, but I haven't spent $40 total *this year*. I really get the feeling that Hasbro has no interest in my business anymore  Ż\_(ツ)_/Ż

Scout Report / Re: Instant discount coupon for Black Series 6"
« on: July 25, 2015, 10:39:49 PM »
Funny thing is, even with a $10-off coupon, they're still not worth it. Says the coupons doesn't stack against any other discounts, so it'll only work off the full retail price ... which I believe is $23. I've had multiple opportunities to pick up a Slave Leia for less than $13 already. It'd probably have to be in the ~$5 range before I'd buy one.

To be fair, though, this has more to do with me restricting my Black Series purchases to ESB characters only, but hey :-p

I found this while browsing at Toys R Us this week. A sticker on 6" Leia or Greedo figures with an automatic $10 price reduction. These look like Hasbro-issued stickers, not a TRU discount. Each sticker is limited directly to the figure it was attached to and is valid until January.

I've never seen anything like this before.

As a movie lover, November to next May is gonna be amazing. New Bond, New SW, Batman v Superman, and Civil War!

Tell me about it! Honestly, I'm trying to be very conscious of how personally interesting the recent entertainment offerings have been. The next 12 months are basically my ultimate fantasy movie year, if I were 10 years old again :-p
I mean, a new Star Wars movie? Batman AND Superman in the same movie! Civil War? Bond ... I mean, we can even include the new Terminator movie from this month if you want. Just amazing, geek-out stuff that I didn't think I'd ever be able to enjoy in my lifetime.
