The Vintage Collection (TVC) / Re: TVC - Jabba's sail Barge!!!!!
« on: March 27, 2018, 06:49:19 AM »
Crossing the 4k barrier will be break a mental barrier for some folks hopefully - I wonder if there are some who aren't bothering because they don't think it has a chance? Hopefully it picks up here.

Still very interesting to me to see a "snapshot" of exactly where the hobby is these days, in terms of hard core, completist collectors. I know there are others who don't buy everything that are all-in here as well, but everyone who invests is willing to go the wall for 3.75" Star Wars. 5000 isn't a huge number of people.

1365 people need to back with 9 days to go. That's just over 150 per day required for those wanting numbers. I know there'll be a spike at the end & am hoping it's enough.

Keep reading, Brian, maybe your opinion will be different. You're pretty good at catching the minutiae!

And done. To me, everything "extra" they included basically amounted to one (thankfully) deleted scene they have released to the public (Tom Hardy's stormtrooper bit with Finn) and a bit of a weird interaction between Rey & Luke (not inappropriate weird, just weird) while she was still on Ach-To. The rest of it was a fairly plain transcription of the movie we saw on screen.

There were little bits of added dialogue here and there, but certainly nothing that cleared up any mysteries or answered many questions. There was a bit more information given about Snoke coming to power, but it was very broad strokes & short - we still don't know who he was or what his role was during the Empire's reign. I can only assume there will be more to follow about Snoke.

All in all, I would call this novelization nice to read (it turned the pages ok) but certainly not necessary for enhancing your understanding of what happened & why.

When Hasbro goes to charge all those credit cards it is almost a guarantee a number of them won't go through. So you can commit to back now but if you really want to get out of it after you can just let your payment bounce at the time it is charged. There is always a certain percentage of backers that do this.

Oh man, they don't take the money up front? I didn't know that & I don't like the way that factors into the likelihood of success here. I had believed up until I read this that it was pay & wait -either for your barge(s) or a refund.

I don't get the part about people not paying - doesn't "backing" the barge mean giving them full payment up front?

I have to think he'll be available later on vintage card.... maybe without the coin or something. Tough spot for Hasbro - create the figure to only be able to produce 5000 of them (give or take), or create that many angry fans by making it available cheaply later? Yikes.

With JJ's $11.26 investment, I think he should be in charge of the "Front door Greeter services". ;D

I could do well at that.   :) :) :) :)

The Barge is at 3077 with 13 days to go - and Ian's Yakface comment appears to be right on the money, they've sweetened the pot with an exclusive Vintage carded yakface which will come with an updated coin. If that doesn't scream "over $100 down the road, on its own" to you, you're not listening!

You guys need to put #backthebarge in your signature block with it linking to the spot to do just that. Edit your profile & copy/paste this (start by quoting me then copy & paste the coded text).

Hey you! Time to #backthebarge!!!!

Expanded Universe - Legacy & the New EU / Re: TLJ Novelization

No kidding. I was completely flabbergasted until the scene revealed itself for what it was. Great cold open to get the reader hooked, I must say. I'm about halfway through at this point, and although there has been a bit of seasoning added in the form of extra dialogue, nothing groundbreaking has taken place.

I gave up just over halfway. That rarely happens to me, but honestly paint drying is way more stimulating.  :indifferent0020:

Got my copy today - it's actually called the "expanded edition" even though we never got a plain one. It starts off with 2 scenes that aren't in the movie and that's as far as I've gotten so far.... and I've read about some significant additions explaining the feelings (or lack thereof, don't want to spoil anything) developing between Rey & Kylo Ren.
