Scout Report / Re:New Figure (Han Hoth)
« on: January 10, 2004, 07:41:26 PM »
So I'm considering this a false alarm (not saying the reporter didn't find one, just that it was likely a return trick). Has anyone else made a report of finding this figure in Canada?

Sorry, no pics for 2 reasons: no digital cam, and no money for the figures on the night I found them. Rarely, if ever, have I left a store so dejected.  :'(

I've been back twice, armed with cash, only finding regular Hejduk and MacInnis. They've revamped the toy aisle, so I'm hoping against hope they just haven't put the rest out yet.

Thanks to the other's who've posted pics. Red Chelios looks amazing.

Very happy to join the happy legions of people having dealt with Nitrog. Too easy. I hope you enjoy the figures.

Man, that Hawks Chelios is wicked. WalMart was stocking toys tonight at close, but I couldn't see anything on the trolley that looked like it might be McFarlane. The NHL 6 figures left (3 regular Anson Carters) were down to  6 bucks a pop, so they must be making room.

Superstore only had 2 left tonight, regular Hejduk and regular MacInnis. I totally missed the boat on the good figures, which sucks. I found them first.  :'( :D

That was the plan for me as well - to win from here and have whatever shipped to my brother in Cleveland. I had really hoped for a chance at some army builders or big lots of common figures, it never came to pass. With the # of points people were paying for stuff, they did well at getting many of their points back. Too bad so few people got so much. I used to think I had a fairly sizeable collection, but a "mere" 2400+ points got me the option of bidding on about nothing, nothing I wanted anyway.  This would have been a great time to give themselves a good name - putting up common figures in large loads would have given many more people a chance to get in on the action. They should have had random giveaways for people who were entering bids, etc. This could have been a much more interesting and customer-friendly event. Instead, it bit.

No "complete checklist" up on yet. I figured they would have thrown it up now that the figures are starting to appear. I guess they're hoping the cases will contain a few surprises - I was surprised to see Forsberg in Nordiques dress, I don't follow the details of the line too much. The retro figures are a great idea.

The green Robin is being packed in regular numbers with the Killer Croc wave. He's exactly like the first Robin (same accessories and sculpt - not sure if he still has the frosted hair tips though  :D ). I passed. I found this wave including Killer Croc in Victoria last weekend, didn't look like any of the figures were short packed at all (I saw more than 2 of each).

I haven't found freeze, but do quite like the "Arctic Armor" Batman. I find it a little weird we're getting that second small wave at the same time the third, larger wave is coming out.

I found a very nice slew of NHL 7 tonight at superstore.

Red and White Hasek
Blue and White Nolan
White Chelios
Blue MacInnis
White Giguere
White Gaborik

No Bertuzzi (surprise)

White Nordiques Forsberg.  8)

I haven't seen any pics yet, but heard that TRU will release 2 more of the Jedi Council packs. The one with Qui Gon could only represent him speaking to Yoda/Mace/Ki Adi about Anakin, which would be disappointing. We already have a complete Jedi Council from Episode I, Im not sure if we can say the same for Episode II (as I can't recall exactly who gets replaced on the council in that one - Even Piell and Adi Gallia out, Coleman and Shaak Ti in? - if so, then we have both).

I like the sets, but I for one would like to see them complete the near-circle of 12 chairs by making 2 more sets. Sitting Coleman would be a really nice figure to get with one of these sets, to offshoot the near-given rehashes we're sure to get.

On a tangent, the figures in the Geonosian War Room sets are absolutely beautiful. I couldn't give these 2 sets a higher rating, I just love them. They ain't super poseable, but detailed right to the hilt. Shu Mai would really benefit from a support bra though......

Great deal with MasterJay completed today in person! Cool to put another face behind the snowtrooper mask.......

Today they did have NHL 6, but nothing in the way of variants. No Naslunds (of course), but 3 Khabibulins if you're into goalies.

I was actually pretty surprised by how useful this Obi Wan is. You hit the nail, nothing ridiculously crazy (ie gold accents or weird forearm protectors WTF is up with those anyway?) about him. Looks good on display and works well as a Geonosis or Tatooine Obi. One of the better figs from this line.

I just got these sets, and they're worth the money. I think the Poggle the Lesser figure was worth the price of admission all on his own - wicked. The Jedi Council sets are very nice as well, can't wait to get the other 2 sets this year (apparently going to be TRU exclusives though, which means we may or may not get them up here).  Thumbs up on these 4 sets for sure.

I really like this figure too. Much better than I had anticipated based on the pics alone. The plastic she's made of is great, very easy to get her to stand, hold the saber, etc. The articulation on mine is nice and tight, she holds numerous poses without difficulty. Nice paint detail and cool accessories. I think the sexy torso is borrowed from Barriss Offee, they have similar "strong points".  :D

The point isn't to complain, rather to warn those people who aren't completists away from crap, so they don't waste their cash. Consider them public service announcements...... :D
