Wampa Cave / Undercover Boss with Kylo Ren
« on: January 17, 2016, 06:29:26 PM »
Last night's SNL had Adam Driver as host and yup, they did a terrific Star Wars segment which had Kylo Ren go undercover at Starkiller Base to see what his underlings thought of him. It was really well-done... check it out!

Wampa Cave / Fans taking it too far
« on: January 07, 2016, 03:22:39 PM »
I keep hoping this story turns out to be fake:

...and yet I wouldn't put it past some Star Wars fan to actually go ahead and actually do this. People can take their fandom a bit too far in these times.

Wampa Cave / SNL is mocking us... (perhaps rightly so?)
« on: December 13, 2015, 12:04:21 AM »
Just watching SNL and they ran a fake-commercial skit where they mock adult SW collectors... it's done as a typical kid's commercial advertising the new SW toys that are coming out for episode 7.

But then all of these older, geeky loser adults step in and take over the commercial, grabbing the toys out of the hands of the kids and showing them the "correct way" to play with the toys in order to more accurately depict how the Falcon should land on the landing pad, how to take good care of their toys by keeping them behind a glass case... hilarious!

Managed to grab some screenshots:

A somewhat tepid response to the new film. Is anyone even surprised?

The Force Awakens (2015-2016) / TFA Super-articulated figures
« on: September 24, 2015, 12:39:47 PM »

It looks like both Finn and Poe have BJ hips, which is great, except that Hasbro seems to still have done a poor job implementing them (the "diaper" look is back in full force, no pun intended).

Astounded they are shipping that barrel chest Endor Han again, but I'll both he, Chewie and Jedi Luke are simply from the production runs used to make the Jabba battlepack and the recent Battle on Endor battlepack.  Cheaper for Hasbro that way to place a big production on those 3 figures and slot them into wave1, despite almost every collector already owning these three.

Star Wars Movies & TV shows / Who killed Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru?

Who killed Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru?

Interesting speculation... he kind of has a point about how the Stormies didn't kill the Tantive rebels, why murder Owen and Beru?

Vintage Kenner (1978-1985) / Droids toyline
« on: September 20, 2015, 04:36:52 PM »
Star has a brief look at the vintage Droids line here:

Even though I watched both cartoons as a kid I never even knew these existed until I was an adult. Did these even come to Canada?  I never saw them at Woolworths or in the Consumers Distributing catalogue...

The Black Series (2013-2018) / SA 3.75" figures live...!!!
« on: September 04, 2015, 12:58:40 AM »

Sweet Jebus... a sight for sore eyes.

edit: wait... they STILL haven't corrected Jedi Luke's hair?!?  Come on, spend a little money there, Hasbro.

Star Wars Rebels (2014-2018) / Death Star playset
« on: August 24, 2015, 03:54:05 PM »
What's hilarious is that for the first few moments, I really thought this was coming from Hasbro as part of the REBELS line, given their move towards dollar-store quality products:

Off Topic / Micronauts
« on: July 20, 2015, 07:41:02 PM »

It's not really news since Hasbro acquired the Micronauts license years ago (and seemingly done little with it) but good to know that Micronauts and MASK are still in development.  I still hope to own a 3.75" scale SA Baron Karza and Force Commander figure someday...

Couple that with news about Hasbro giving IDW access to Micronauts and ROM, this is a great time to be a nostalgic old dude #me

Star Wars Movies & TV shows / Young Han Solo: the movie
« on: July 07, 2015, 07:22:56 PM »
Well you knew it was coming:

The Han Solo standalone is slated for a May 25, 2018 release date and is written by Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan. The story focuses on how young Han Solo became the smuggler, thief, and scoundrel whom Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first encountered in the cantina at Mos Eisley.

Any thoughts on who you'd want as your young Indy... errrr, I mean young Han?

Wampa Cave / Holographic Darth Vader from Jakks Pacific
« on: June 18, 2015, 12:58:57 PM »
I have to admit this is pretty cool... I'd want one if it wasn't an overpriced SDCC exclusive:

Wampa Cave / Christopher Lee passes away...
« on: June 11, 2015, 08:35:47 AM »
Just saw the breaking news on CityTV.  Well I'd been hoping he might make an appearance as Count Dooku in one of the SW anthology movies but I guess not.

A great man and actor, he'll be sorely missed.

Wampa Cave / TARGET takeovers
« on: May 08, 2015, 06:47:18 PM »
So on the news in the past 3 days:

- Canadian Tire is buying up 12 former Target locations
- Walmart also announcing they are buying 13 Targets and a distribution centre.

Has anyone seen any indications that their closed Target is quietly being reworked into a Walmart or CanTire?  I don't think in either announcement that they've indicated which Targets are being taken over.

Wampa Cave / Star Wars Celebration - Cloud City diorama build
« on: April 25, 2015, 12:27:22 PM »
I just got a message from the good folks at HunterPR with this clip from the Celebration event. Just out of sheer laziness, I'm going to directly quote their message below :D

Hello Star Wars fans!

This past weekend at Star Wars Celebration, Frank D’iorio’s Diorama Workshop built a massive Cloud City diorama at the Hasbro booth! Constructed over the course of 4 days, the diorama was created through a combination of the Diorama Workshop's team of 12 builders and the help of approximately 1500 fans who customized pieces at Star Wars Celebration. The diorama is 640 square feet and consists of over 400 setpieces, including approximately 800 figures and toys by Hasbro and Kenner.

If you weren’t on hand to watch as the diorama was built, we captured the entire process in a time-lapse video which you can view and share with your readers:

Here¹s the link to IGN¹s posting of the video:
