Other Movies - Music - TV Entertainment / ALIENS... starring JLaw as Newt?
« on: February 19, 2015, 07:27:00 PM »
With the announcement today that ALIEN V is coming, I thought this io9 article was interesting:

Oddly enough I would not mind JLaw as a grown-up Newt, since I could see the resemblance, and JLaw is actually a good actress who has a strong fan following and experience in leading a film franchise already.

Wampa Cave / New OT-era Mission series figures shown
« on: January 24, 2015, 04:43:04 PM »
See here for the gallery:

That Bespin Han and Endor Han look ...interesting. Talk about odd leg articulation on Endor Han!

That said, at least the sculpting on some of these 5POA figures look surprisingly good...  chime in on what you think, folks!

Star Wars Movies & TV shows / Spin-off movie - RE-use and Recycle
« on: January 24, 2015, 11:26:40 AM »

Well that's actually a smart move if they want to keep the budget down... it actually reminds me of filmmaking in the 60s when starship models, costumes, and other expensive props would get recycled into other sci-fi/fantasy film productions to keep the costs under control.

Wampa Cave / TARGET abandoning its Canadian operations
« on: January 15, 2015, 10:03:18 AM »
Heard on the morning news... a real shocker: TARGET is pulling out of Canada, thousands of jobs will be lost and hundreds of adult collectors are slamming their fists down onto their desks right now. :(

"The retailer was unable to find a realistic scenario that would get Target Canada to profitability until at least 2021. 133 stores will close."

Star Wars Movies & TV shows / Qui-Gon
« on: January 14, 2015, 01:09:18 AM »
Now suddenly everyone wants to come back and do a SW film (could George's departure have anything to do with it, hmmmm  ;) )

If both Ewan and Liam want to return, you could literally have them do a pre-prequel spinoff story together. Although I seriously doubt most (older) fans even want to see that. Then again, written and directed by someone else, the story could actually be decent.

Computer Talk / Keyboard-projecting R2D2
« on: January 04, 2015, 04:00:18 AM »
I thought this was pretty cute...

Who knew back in '77 that we'd get to a projected virtual computer keyboard from a mini-R2-D2 by 2015?  No Canadian release though, only US.

Negative Feedback / "Alex" aka "Lexi Godinho"(?) on kijiji
« on: November 26, 2014, 09:37:23 PM »
It's no doubt unusual to post negative feedback about a kijiji seller who isn't on this site (AFAIK) but I would advise other Toronto/GTA buyers to stay away from this woman.

She sells SW items on kijiji regularly, has a boatload of ads, but my attempt to purchase a playset from her has left me furious at her behavior and conduct.  The only thing I have realized in the aftermath of my dealings with her is that I wish kijiji had a feedback system, that is the kind of thing I think that would keep both buyers and sellers more honest and less likely to screw people over.

Wampa Cave / A spin-off movie for Mace Windu?
« on: November 22, 2014, 01:24:27 AM »
Well, this is interesting. I've always wondered just how many people are big enough fans of Mace Windu to make a solo story focusing on him successful.

Obviously one of the big complaints about Mace is that he's quite wooden in the prequels but that's likely 99.9% the fault of the director and writer. I'd like to see what SLJ is capable of in the role when he's being directed by someone with a fair more talent and given a better script.

Wampa Cave / A sad moment in sci-fi history: the passing of Glen A. Larson
« on: November 17, 2014, 02:29:16 AM »
A great tribute to his works can be found here:

RIP, a real shame that he didn't live to see some kind of continuation to his original series.

Wampa Cave / And it's a ...wrap?
« on: November 04, 2014, 09:00:21 PM »

Since the evidence points to the end of live-action filming and the start of CGI artists sweating it out for the next year to remove some of the wrinkles from Harrison Ford's face, I hope this means that the next two episodes can be shot just as quickly.

At this point it feels like a race against time before they croa... errr, become one with the Living Force, so let's wish it was a fun experience for Hamill, Fisher, Ford and crew that they might want to do a few holiday specials (yeah I said it) after the films.  Or something else Star Wars-y before they croa....

Wampa Cave / Hasbro: we're doing juuuuust fine, thanks!
« on: October 20, 2014, 04:16:00 PM »

Well this is a good sign I suppose, that Star Wars and Marvel properties are boosting their profits. Now if they just made more 3.75" SW and Marvel super-articulated figures, I'll be happy to add even more to their profit margins.

Unless of course the reason why they're doing so well is because they changed over to 5POA cheaply-made toys that sell to the kiddies and not the collectors, then we can expect to see more of that  #the_horror

AND they're getting into the movie business...

I'm surprised they didn't just call it "Hasbro Studios" after a certain other company that went that route.

Wampa Cave / Emperor Palpatine finally has a first name...
« on: October 20, 2014, 02:02:30 AM »
...and it sounds really dumb:

Maybe it'll grow on me. I hope it does.

Wampa Cave / New York Comic Con 2014 Q&A links
« on: October 15, 2014, 08:24:46 PM »
Well, let's start posting links to the sites that have managed to get ahold of the Hasbro reps and hopefully asked them some pointed questions...
