Scout Report / Vintage Falcon (BMF)
« on: October 23, 2012, 04:29:38 PM »
So has the vintage packaged Big Millenium Falcon listed for $250. Did they add gold plated parts in it somewhere? An actual working hyperdrive? I just don't see how it costs $250 for a repack of a vehicle that was $160 just 4 years ago. I know it's TRU and their prices are already crazy to begin with ($189 MTT, $150 Endor BAT-AT), but this is silly. I was looking forward to being able to pick this thing up for less-than-ebay prices but I guess not. Now I'll probably have to wait and hope that it shelf rots and I can get it on clearance in a couple years. Way to go Hasbro and TRU.  :sad0064:

Off Topic / Another future Star Wars fan
« on: August 30, 2012, 01:54:43 PM »
Hello all,

I just wanted to take a minute to announce that my family and I have received another addition to our collection - a healthy baby daughter.

She will be joining her older sister as Star Wars "padawans-in-training" (she was already named "Baby Yoda" by her sister months ago).

Looks like I'll have another (welcome) reason to cut back on collecting for a little while!

Wampa Cave / SDCC 2012
« on: July 10, 2012, 01:03:38 AM »
Counting down til Friday afternoon to hear if anything new comes out of the SDCC Star Wars panel!

From Hasbro's Comic Con news release:

PANEL: Star Wars Action Figures; Friday, July 13 at 11:00-12:00pm
Derryl DePriest (VP, Global Brand Marketing, Hasbro), Jeff Labovitz (Director, Global Brand Marketing, Hasbro), Brian Merten (Sr. Manager, Product Design, Hasbro), Adam Pagano (Sr. Art Director, Hasbro) and Erik Arana (Star Wars Product Designer, Hasbro) discuss the popular Hasbro Star Wars line. Attendees will also get a sneak peek of upcoming, never before seen items. There will also be some Q+A for burning Star Wars action figure questions.

So who wants to start taking bets that much of the presentation will be:
"Look at at these great new figures in the Movie Heroes line, complete with 5 points of articulation!!!"
To be followed up with:
"Stay tuned for Celebration VI / Toy Fair / New York Comic Con / some other distant event for more exciting news!!!"
And lastly a 5 minute Q&A period with answers in any/all of the following flavours:
- "We'll look into that, thanks for the suggestion"
- "You'll have to wait until Celebration VI / Toy Fair / New York Comic Con / etc to hear more"
- "We are working very closely with retailers to make our products more available to you. Distribution issues are a thing of the past"

OK I know I'm being cynical, but it is meant to be all in good fun (well, mostly ;-)).
This is something I look forward to every year and even with all the leaked news that we get via fan sites these days, there's always at least a couple interesting things that come out of the Con.
Looking forward to the end of the week!

Video Games / Star Wars 1313
« on: June 01, 2012, 07:19:48 PM »
So finally some info on the new SW game coming along. Initial press release here:
Hopefully we find out more at E3 next week. I'm really hoping this is for PS3, and not an online-oriented game.

Jedi Archives / Saleucami clone trooper discrepancy
« on: April 03, 2012, 11:12:20 PM »
I just got a clone trooper (saleucami) off of Tunghori. It is supposed to be this one: It has all the correct paint apps, etc. However there is one thing that is different - the one I have has the slot in the top of his back for the typical communications antenna (which he did come with). Thing is, the photos show that this release did not have that slot, nor the antenna accessory. I am trying to figure out if there was a later release of him with the antenna incorporated in. Any help out there? Thanks!

Lego / Zellers - Buy 1 Get 1 Half Off SW LEGO - Mar 30 to Apr 5
« on: March 28, 2012, 09:48:08 PM »
Zellers - Mar 30 thru Apr 5 - BOGO 1/2 OFF all Star Wars Lego... yay! Hopefully I can find the new X-wing and TIE Fighter...

Hey all, with the current lull in desirable SW figures, I was thinking of perhaps picking up a Transformers figure from time to time. I've never owned one, not even as a kid. I'd only be interested in 80's style characters though - nothing from the new movie designs, or the kiddie animated style. Is there a vintage/classic/G1 style line out there right now? A slightly higher price point would be OK too, as I'd be looking for a slightly higher quality type of figure (ie, lots of articulation, definitive designs, etc)

Hopefully there's some TF toy fans out there that came give me some pointers. Thanks!

Scout Report / 2012 vintage style vehicles
« on: February 23, 2012, 11:55:18 AM »
I just got my pre-ordered Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter in vintage packaging in the mail yesterday from TRU, so we should start seeing this wave of vehicles in stores very soon.
Just a head's up to anyone who is waiting for these!

Wampa Cave / Yoda packaging in 2013

The colours kinda remind me of the POTF2 cards.

Wampa Cave / Vintage to take a break next year?
« on: February 14, 2012, 03:47:08 PM »
Here's a speculative report I almost missed on JTArchives:

They mention the possibility of Vintage going on hold for a while starting in 2013, and possibily (hopefully?) bringing back the Build-a-Droid line. While I am really loving the vintage cardbacks, and would hate for them to take a break, my wallet thinks otherwise. This is the only line that I collect both MOC and openers, so it's been more costly than usual. But aside from the financial aspect, if this were to happen I can think of why it could make some sense. I'd rather give it a break for 2013 and 2014 while AOTC and ROTS are the focus - they could even throw in some of those horrible action-oriented figures from 2002 (horror!), save up and rake in the cash from the new batch of kids, etc. And to keep collectors interested do a TLC type focus with a few of the more obscure characters (from all eras) with the B.A.D. pack-ins. Then in 2015 they roll out Vintage again with a vengeance, hitting us with more OT-carded awesomeness to coincide with Eps IV-VI in 3D. But then they should make Vintage the ONLY line of Star Wars figures available - the main focus for both kids and collectors. The past 2 years of TVC figures have been such great quality that they could even do most of the OT ones again as straight repacks and I'm sure they'd sell just fine.

Other Star Wars Toys & Collectibles / Star Wars Fighter Pods
« on: February 04, 2012, 01:30:51 PM »
Anyone here interested in collecting the new line of SW Fighter Pods from Hasbro? There's a big random assortment aspect and limited availability of exclusives to this line. I was thinking of buying a case or 2 of the blind 2-packs to start up, but not sure where a good place to do that would be. I don't see them on the Legends website, but Big Bad Toy Store has a good price for them. The issue is shipping though.
