I'll post more on the weekend.

Right now many collectors are "hoarding" because there is a special Monument award on Jan 1st.  Usually you get your name engraved on the back of the card forever.

I'm caught up in the hoarding frenzy.  Yoda.

I do spend $$.  I like chasing rare cards.  I also have cut back and only collect sets that I like.  I was collecting every set but then I realized that I don't really like some sets, so why bother.

I also make my kids play so I can steal their cards.

I wondered what hoarding was all about.
Dang, I never thought of having family members play too and stealing their cards. Maybe I'll load it on my wife's phone and the old phone I gave my kids to play with!

Question: I've figured out that new inserts are released intermittently over time, and that the best chance to pull one is to buy the packs as soon after release as possible. I see the info screen for some packs show a time of day, some show just a day of the week, some nothing - there doesn't seem to be any clear consistency? How do you know for sure when the new stuff hits, or do I just have to keep checking all the time?

So can one of you long-time veterans give me a primer on trading?
I've skimmed through the trade postings in the app, but I'm a bit lost.
Maybe you can fill me in on the shorthand everyone uses, common trade practices, etc, and how to go about actually making the trades.

I've been at it about a month now, and so far using only the free credits I'm at just over 1200 cards, very close to completing the white variants of all 3 current base sets. At the moment I'd be mainly interested in offloading any doubles of the handful of inserts that I have, in exchange for any other inserts. I assume I'll eventually get complete base sets of of at least white, probably blue, and maybe even red just through regular day-to-day pack buying?

Also, do any of you have collecting strategies? Particularly for someone who doesn't plan to spend any real money on it. Anything to watch out for, avoid, or not waste my credits on? So far I've been grabbing packs of cards from the "limited time" sets that pop up so I can get as many of those inserts as possible before they sell out. Then I move on to the open sets. I love packs from sets like Galactic Alphabet and Galactic Fun that are only 2500 credits per pack - can buy twice the number of packs as usual.

UPDATE - added Black Series 6" Elite Praetorian Guards x2 SOLD!

I picked up 2 sets of the Royal Guard 4-pack at eb games today.
Gonna sell off the 2 Elite Praetorian Guards - anyone here interested? Shoot me a PM with an offer. Would also possibly trade for a pair of ERG's or Senate Guards.

Scout Report / Re: TRU - last day to save 15% off entire purchase

Thanks to you guys, I picked up some Lego sets there today. Got the some advent calendars for my girls since they never seem to go on sale anyways. Friends one was reg price but I think the City was actually 20% off. Also picked up a few of the small SW sets that were on for 20% off. Then another 15% off everything, and on top of that I qualified for the free minifig 4-pack. So worked out pretty well for once, haha.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who learned about this late.  I was at my TRU yesterday and there were no signs posted about the 15% off.  Today there was... but only on a few shelves.

Yet I bought a transformer yesterday and didn't get the 15% off.  Not sure if even TRU knew that they were supposed to be having that sale yesterday, lol. I'm going to go back and see if I can get my receipt adjusted.

The clerks actually have to scan a barcode sheet that they have up at the cash to apply the 15% off. So if the person doesn't know or happens to forget, I'm assuming the system doesn't catch it at all.

so awesome!

what did you think of the con?

It was interesting. Not too small, but definitely not big. Lots of room to move around. A very unique location - we had actually just been to the museum earlier in the summer, so we didn't even really spend any time looking at the planes this time. I'm pretty much at the point now that there's nothing I'm really looking for shopping-wise, so I usually do a quick walkthrough of the floor and that's about it. The main reason I went was to pick up the autographs. I don't think we were there for more than 2 hours. The girls had fun dressing up, and seeing all the cosplay.

Same name as here

Trade sent.  I hoard Yoda but thought I should give you a good card for it.

Awesome choice, I love it! My new favourite card, thanks!

I saw these at TRU on the weekend, along with a Chewie lunchbox (it's got fur).
They were on sale too, so keep an eye out if you're interested.

A couple Montréal buddies of mine from the forum here are avid collectors of Star Wars autographs. Whenever there's a SW film actor appearing at a local Ontario convention, I'll usually pop by and pick some up for them.

For today's adventure, I hit up Hamilton Comic Con to meet Mr. Paul Blake (the late Rodian bounty hunter Greedo) and Mr. Tim Rose (of Admiral Ackbar fame). Usually I go to these shows on my own, but today I brought along my wife and 2 girls. They were real troopers standing in the lineups with me, and when we got to meet the celebrated guests they were rewarded for their efforts. Both guys were super nice, very pleasant and in good humour. They chatted and joked with us, and after our business was complete, they each took a special interest in the kids (my oldest girl had her Sabine Wren mask on and a Star Wars shirt).

Paul Blake pulled out special mini-photos, signed and personalized them for each girl, chatting with them the whole time. Tim Rose had a similar item set aside for kids - he had found an Ackbar meme on the internet that said "It's a Trump!" and was signing them with the note "On One Knee". It was his small form of support for the recent protesters in the US (NFL or otherwise). Anyways, I don't usually go in to meet actors for myself, so it's nice when it can still be a pleasant experience. If you ever get the chance to see these guys, they're very nice to talk to. It'd still put Jeremy Bullock (Boba Fett) slightly ahead of them, but only just.

Here's a pic of what my girls received:

He's on sale for $31.97 now, so bring your receipt back to TRU for LPG.

I tried to buy him on sale at 2 stores on Friday. He scanned at full price and the manager at both cited the wording is "up to" 20% off. Typical TRU advertising scam. They usually pull that with their exclusives, though funny thing is the ad shows the AT-ACT Driver as the example, complete with TRU Exclusive logo.  :speechless-smiley-004:

I checked their website when I got back home, at it was still listed at full price. Though now I see it is listed on sale, so I suppose someone either caught an error or made a bigger fuss than I did, lol.

As far as I know, many of the SDCC items will be hitting HTS tomorrow, August 14 at some time during the day. THis includes the Marvel, Transformers, etc items. The Star Wars items are excluded, along with a couple other items I believe. Originally the thought was that they would be held back and made available at HasCon in mid-September, however it was later made known that the Star Wars items would go live on September 1st for Force Friday.

$50 for Leia?! Typical Hasbro & TRU pricing scheme. An extra $23 for a 2nd outfit. Wow. My girls didn't like that price when they saw it  :~/~:

if anyone looking for the force of destiny star wars line just notice has them instock online

bump - a few updates

Sorry, I thought Jyn came in this wave too. Guess she was in another wave, but Jyns with 2017 date codes apparently had updated paint apps and does not have rubbery knees.

Haha, they repacked Jyn so many times, it seems like this is the only wave that she ISN'T in!
