Wampa Cave / Re: What happened to this forum/site?
« on: April 21, 2016, 10:56:45 PM »
Well as an 'old timer' on Snowtroopers.ca (meaning before it was called Snowtroopers) I check in on an almost daily basis but I don't post as often as I used to. Still a hard core fan, but my collecting habits have dropped greatly. Between the lack of product availability and the price increase I have become selective in what I pick up. Also, having a wife and 3 kids, means that they have to come first over my Star Wars 'drugs'. Like I have said in the past I think that Hasbro has run it's course with Star Wars toys and maybe it's time for someone else to take over. And yes I know that if someone else took over they can make it even worse but they could also make it that much better. So, in the end I am still around so for any of you newbies have a question shoot me a pm or email me, or contact me on the Facebook page.

May the Force Be With You and Long Live Darth Jar Jar😝

SPOILER ALERT

SPOILER ALERT

DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVENT SEEN THE MOVIE

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Ok. Very good movie. The whole Starkiller base being a planet that contains a star. Like how did they come with that. It took over 20 yrs just to build the first Death Star. When did they start building that beast back in the days before the Old Republic. And the who the Hell is Rey's parents? It would seem obvious that Luke is her dad, however, when you see the secne of Leia giving Rey a hug after Han's death, that seems more like a motherly kind of hug vs an aunt or a friend. They really played up the fact that Rey could be Han and Leia's daughter, which is why they left her on Jakku to protect her from her older brother Ben/ Kylo. I have a strong feeling that she is Luke's daughter because of the final scene, however...  I loved the part about Han wanting to know if there was a garbage chute particularly one with a trash compactor in it to throw Capt. Plasma down. Anyone catch the Clone reference in there as well. Lastly, who was Supreme Leader Snoke's master and is it possible that he is some how Palpatine reincarnated/ Clone.

Scout Report / Re: State of the Forum: Scalping
« on: December 07, 2015, 07:53:16 PM »
You guys punted him before I had a chance to sink my teeth into him.  So people just don't get it. Only time I have ever seen people sell things a little hire than retail is if it is a rare figure or if they got from a Con or something like that. And yes most comic shops do have to charge a little more because they are not buying the same mass amount as the big box stores. However there are a few out there that base their prices off of eBay. There is a comic shop in Edmonton that does this in particular. I know this as I went in there one time inquiring about a figure he had for sale that had been in his store for months and he flat out told me that his pricing was based on what it was going for on eBay. So yes there are a 'few ' comic shops out there that are basically scalping their stuff but most do not. Oh and if you want to really talk about scalping go over to Cybertron.ca

I guess if you use the "new math" it works out but I'm still stuck in my ways of the "old math" from a long, long time ago when 5 POA were $6.99, and then a little further back to where that BB8 would be the equivalent to an astromech torso and head from the build a droid series and the sum of all those build a weapon pieces would have just been accessories inclusive to the price of the figure.  My "old math" values this set at the price 4 and 5 figure Battlepacks used to sell for $24.99, and keep in mind those were "premium SA" figures most of the time.  Remember the Hoth Assault Battlepack that came with premium articulated Vader, Snowtrooper and Snow Scout Trooper AND.... it came with a Hoth speeder bike AAAANND.... it came with an E-web cannon!!!!  All of that for either $24.99 or $29.99 I can't remember it was 2011 but that was value for the dollar.

 :snowtroopers:

LOL Yeah you're right! I'm using the "new math" developed by Hasbro in the past 2 years, which states that:

IF (SA 3-3/4" > 5POA 3-3/4") THEN [ (5POA always > SA) AND (3-3/4" = 6" OR 12" Heroes Series) + $$$ ]

                      ∞
with $$$ =  (W x (n+1)/t)tdt
                      t= 0

and n = Nb of fooled customers, t = time, in hours, W = Nb of freebie gimmicks given for free (Build-a-weapon!!!)

...giving you the amount of money extracted from fooled customers' pocket over time.

And if you add the "New Movie" Factor in the equation, you get access to the wonderful instant "Logarithmic multiplier F":

                ∞
$$$ =  (FLN(F) x W x (n+1)/t)tdt
                t= 0

Basically, in this new world of values given by Hasbro, 5POA always is greater than 3-3/4". And that pricing is adjusted in accordance with this principle. Because of that, you can't apply the "old math", they don't work anymore. Mainly because you don't understand the core value of the Freebie Gimmicks packed in the figures. LOL :tongue0024: :P

😶😱😛

It is strange that Hasbro would do that. I am not sure what your plans are with your Rex figure are but if you are usuing him in a battle diorama you could make it so that it looks like he got an injury in a battle with some clankers.  I have a loose clone trooper that has a leg that is off and I just situate him so that it looks like he got taken out by a clanker
