Wampa Cave / Fairfax has made a $300 Million bid for TOYSRUS Canada

Fairfax has made a $300 Million dollar bid for Toysrus Canada.  Toysrus has until Monday to hear from any other bidders.   Some of the highlights of why Fairfax has made the bid are:  unlike the USA, Toysrus Canada is a profitable business also TOYSRUS Canada owns 22 of their 82 stores, so Fairfax is buying property that is worth $250 million and only paying an extra $50 million for the business.  This bid has set the bar for other people to beat.  The bid is what is called a "stalking horse bid" which allows other potential buyers to enter competing proposals by Monday. If another bid is presented, Fairfax would then have the option of either increasing its offer or walking away.  Earlier this week TOYSRUS rejected an offer from MGA Entertainment Inc.  Cross your fingers... this maybe the deal that saves TOYSRUS Canada.

16) Star Wars Rebels - I have all of them PVR for this season and have not watched any of them yet - so not sure if it is any good.


Seriously?  You are really, really missing out here.  Especially after season 1.  Most episodes are top quality stuff (there's a couple of fluff ones in there, but that's almost every series. ever) 
i would watch Rebels basically before everything else on your list.

I have been watching rebels : Just watched Jedi Night.   Was not expecting that - made me sad.  It was neat after the conclusion of the episode that they did not play any music.  I guess they figured the music would disturb the moment fans were all having..........he didn't get to say the words but his actions definitely did.

So today, since they are not charging credit cards until later this month,  I asked Hasbro whether they are still taking orders for the Sail Barge.   The answer is a definite NO - they made a decision that the cut off date is a hard date.  But if you want you can still cancel your order.

I think the problem is: Walmart has a problem with fraud and someone in cubical looking totally from Walmart position has developed a process.  The process is flawed.  The reason you are not getting a receipt is because the return has not happened until someone else has verified the transaction.  So you are dependant on the data entry of the person of you being correct and the person verifying the transaction to do thing correct.  The problem is if they determine the transaction to be invalid - what recourse does the consumer have.  Bottom line you made a return - you should get a receipt indicating that you gave them product.  If they want to review the return fine but they need to hold the product in question in a secure location until they determine the transaction is valid and then return the goods to you if they determine it to be an invalid transaction.   You should definitely get something in writing and get the full name and time of the return, I would also suggest getting the manager on duty to sign off on the transaction.  The reason -be a pain in the ass - so the people on the floor will complain to upper management - who will see the problem and put a new process in place.

Time for a little serious note....
As someone who purchases star wars toys online from walmart.ca, I have never had a concern about returning anything to a Walmart store....until tonight.

I was returning a couple of black series figures...(and no they wern't Scarif Stormtroopers)...to a Walmart store in Oakville, ON....and they now have this stupid separate computer system for returning online purchases.  Basically, after the customer service rep processed my return, there is no longer a return receipt that is provided to the customer. She basically just wrote with her pen the return amount on my original email receipt that I printed off....so basically, I have no receipt or email of proof that the return was made.  I asked 'Where is my return receipt?' and the rep said 'There is no longer any paper return receipt provided to the customer.'  I thought this is completely unacceptable as what happens if the return doesn't end up going back on my credit card...'What am I supposed to do?... come back to the service counter and provide what as proof that I actually did a return?'  I ended up speaking to the Duty Manager at the Oakville store and explained my concern, but unfortunately, she too said there are no longer any return receipts provided to the customer....they just say ' ok...the return has been done, you should see the money in your account in a few business days'.

So I'm reaching out to fellow snowtroopers to see if anyone else has experienced the same type of return system lately as I have a concern that there is the potential of the return not being done properly...and I wouldn't want any fellow collector returning an item to suffer a potential similar fate.

I don't think you should sleep tonight.  You are completely screwed .  No return receipt, no paper work, when you don't get your money back - they will ask you for your return receipt . You will tell your story and they will say that makes no sense .    Classic Walmart scam .   :winking0071:

We went 2 different days . Friday it was cold windy .  But yesterday it was perfect .  The photos are amazing .  I stayed back at the monument while the others went the trenches and at one point I was all by myself.  Just a fantastic experience . Today we head to Dieppe and Juno Beach.  We are starting the Workd War 2 part of the trip.

Hey guys ... I am in France on a school trip with my kids.  We went to Vimy today.  Amazing. Just saw the Yak announcement, smart move .  I would think a lot of collectors are now thinking about 2 barge purchases.  Add in a Vinyl Cape Jawa on vintage card back and I think they would make it .

It could be a win win situation.  MGA Entertainment is toy company that could be carrying a large unpaid account from TOYSRUS.  This way they get some kind of pay back of the money they are owed .  They can operate a chain of the stores that is making money and feature their products in the stores.   The deal could be swapping the unpaid accounts for the inventory and goodwill that Toysrus Canada has.

Toys "R" Us is in talks to sell its entire Canadian business as it works to shutter its 70-year-old U.S. operations, but analysts are skeptical about the future of the brick-and-mortar toy retailer's existing business model.

The company confirmed Thursday it is in "active discussions regarding a transaction that would result in an acquisition of the entire Canadian business," as the U.S. company seeks approval in its bankruptcy proceedings for the sale of its equity interest in the Canadian business.

The statement came a day after California-based toy company MGA Entertainment confirmed its CEO Isaac Larian and affiliated investors have made a bid for the Toys "R" Us Canada operations.

"Toys 'R' Us Canada is a good business," Larian said in a statement. "They run it efficiently, and have good leadership. At the right price, it makes economical sense."

Toys "R" Us CEO David Brandon has said the company will try to bundle its Canadian business with about 200 U.S. stores as it looks to find a buyer, but the MGA spokesperson declined to provide details on how much of the business Larian has made a bid for.

Just watched CBC talking about TOYSRUS closing down in the US and now liquidating it's assets.  The conversation was basically that speciality shops whether it be toys or running shoes is in trouble now and will not exist in the future.  They did not predict the immediate out come for Toysrus Canada but did say that they will not exist in the future.
