Wampa Cave / Father's Day & Star Wars
« on: June 19, 2005, 02:42:02 PM »
My daughter was born 5 years ago on Father's day so it is a special day for her and I.  Her Birthday was yesturday and the main thing she was asking for was a Star Wars figure - Anikin #2.  Also got her clone wars.

So today we started the day eating breakfast and watching clone wars - my two years old son had tons of guns out and was loving all the shooting.  Later on my wife and the kids brought out gifts for me - my daughter had picked out a star wars figure - the roger/roger droid and my wife had picked me up the Darth Vader FX light saber(it is really cool).  THe kids and I went down stairs - they grabbed their soft plush light sabers and we started our very own Jedi training camp.

Lots of fun.

Hope you guys had a great father's day!!!

Scout Report / Energizer Lightsabers
« on: June 10, 2005, 06:28:18 AM »
This week I recieved the 2 light sabers that I purchased for $6.99 ea. from Energizer Canada.  The first one they sent was a Luke Skywalker version and the second was a Darth Vader.  These are the same versions that were recently available at Walmart.

Did anyone else get one of these yet?

Wampa Cave / Star Wars Hype is ending.
« on: June 01, 2005, 01:21:48 PM »
I noticed this week that the star wars hype is ending.

The local TRU was taking it's large display down to make room for new toys.  Burger King is ending it's promotion.  The Grocery stores are now receiving pepsi and lays chips that do not have star wars packaging.   Zellers has returned to be being a store that has nothing new.

Scout Report / #41 Troopers could be easy to get.
« on: May 15, 2005, 11:44:37 PM »
Just watched 3 auctions on ebay. All from the same seller.  All for four of the same figures.  Cost to ship to Canada $9.50 US for four figures.

Auction A:  4 Exclusive Target Clone Troopers
Auction B:  4 #41 Clone Trooper
Auction C:  4 #38 Tank Gunner

Auction A:  from Ireland   $71.01 US plus shipping
Auction B:  from Canada  $27.00 US plus shipping
Auction C:  from Canada  $41.09 US plus shipping

Based on this auction with buyers who are obviously fans of Clone Troopers,
I am hoping the #41 Clone Trooper will not be that hard to get!

I am taking a guess at this, but the timing of the international Toy show may be leading to mechandise disappearing in large quanities.  I based this on my conversation I had with a Walmart employee and personal observation.  Late last week someone went into the Walmart at the Scarborough Town Centre and purchased their entire stock approximately $4000 was the purchase. The person making the purchase said he was a collector but she thought he was a retailer - buy at $7.44 the next wave - sell at the show for $12.99-$14.99 nice profit.  Anything left over -take back to Walmart.  Last night I was at the Walmart in Whitby and they had I would say about 15 boxes of new figures and this morning nothing.  I hope I am wrong but if there is alot of Canadian version figures 32+ at the Show this weekend - it only makes sense that the small retailers did not get their supply ahead of Walmart, Toysrus and Zeller.
I am not going to the show but I would be interested in knowing if my theory is true.  If it isn't true their is collector out their who really really likes the 32+ figures!!!!! Have fun at the show.

Wampa Cave / Trip to Hong Kong
« on: April 17, 2005, 02:33:32 PM »
My wife is going on a trip to Hong Kong for 2 weeks in May.  Does anyone know of any places I could tell her to check out for Star War toys.  Since they make them in China - I was wondering if there was any outlet stores where you can pick up Star Wars toys at a good deal.

The Toys - Snowtrooper Reviews! / Plug & Play Darth Vader Game
« on: April 16, 2005, 03:58:57 PM »
My daughter who is 4 and I have been playing the new Revenge of the Sith Darth Vader Plug and Play game.   My daughter is very good at the game - and is very concerned about saving all the white people (Clone troopers).
And is also very good with a light Saber and eliminating super battle droids.

The game is way better than the Atari games I used to play with as a kid and I think it is perfect for the young kids - challenging and fun but not stressful.

The 5 games are Coruscant Attack, Grievous Onslaught, Gunship Battle, Utapau Chase, Droid Invasion. Grievous Onslaught and Gunship Battle are the best games.

Worth buying if you have any really young kids.

Wampa Cave / Local TRU celebrates on Sat. April 2

Wampa Cave / Road Trip To Florida = Star Wars
« on: March 21, 2005, 01:46:14 AM »
Just got back from a two week round trip road trip to florida down the I-75.
Managed to find some star war deals and was able to get some star war ROTS figures that I do not believe in Canada yet.  When some of you guys head down for celebration you may be able to take advantage of some of the clearance of star war items.

KMART: Scene 1 & Scene 2 Cantina Bar scenes $10 ea. Millenium Falcon $30
Lord of the Rings Risk game $16
Target: Light sabers $4.88, Rabe and the other four figures that were released here in Canada were at $3.88 Electronic Lighter sabers with sound and Lights were $9.99
Walmart: Lego X-wing $13, Millenium Falcon $15, VOTC $2, Exclusive Walmart figure sets $5 , Lego Rebel Snow Fighters $11, Star Wars Monopoly $10

Prices vary from store to store and item available at clearance section vary. ie Star Wars Monopoly sold at full price at one Walmart and $10 at the next.   The deepest discounts were found in the southern states.

The 3 new cantina figures are available at Walmart for $5.88 and Toys R US for $6.99.  By Celebration they maybe discounting these figures.

ROTS finds: Both Kmart and Walmart were making the mistake of putting them out before the April 2nd date.  At Kmart when I took the figures up they would not scan-the check out person checked with customer service and they came back saying they could not sell them to me until April 2nd.  I went to Walmart -they had them out again -fortunately I also took one of the sneak preview figures up at the same time.  The check out person could not scan the new ROTS so she used the preview figure and scan it 10 times - $5.24 a figure.
They had different figures at Walmart and Kmart.  kMart had the deluxe star war figures and non-warrior figures, Walmart had more of the warrior figures.
I only collect figures related to the original 3 movies so I got the new chewbacca, the new wookie with cross bow, darth vader, yoda, droids R2 and also got battle droid-saw many others - they all look good.

The only thing I was looking for and could not find was the Mr. Potatoe head Darth Vader - I have a 2 year old son I was trying to get it for him as a birthday present.

And for anyone headed to disney world - at the MGM Star Wars ride they had out some exclusive figures and the best find for me was OTC Y-wings - as many as you wanted!! and they deliveried them to my hotel at no extra charge. They have star war weekends coming up soon and the staff were talking up a storm about how great a time it would be.

I hope on your road trip to Celebration you score some deals on star wars merchandise.

Wampa Cave / Free VOTC C3P0 from Hasbro & OTC #10
« on: February 10, 2005, 10:27:26 PM »
I bought a Slave 1 that was missing the Rocket from Boba Fett and also missing 4 of the missles.  I sent a request for replacement parts to Hasbro USA. My problem was forwarded to Hasbro Canada.  I am guessing that because the Slave 1 was not a Vehicle available in Canada they did not have access to replacement parts - therefore they sent me a free Darth Vader OTC #10 for the missing rocket and then two weeks later they sent me a free VOTC C3P0 for the missing missles.

I think the C3P0 are hard to find - is this true?  Maybe I should put it up on e-bay - I still have the Hasbro box and documentation that they sent me.  Could be worth millions$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.....or maybe $14.95 or $9.97 at Xmas.

Snowtrooper Recruitment / Step 1 in my 10 step process.
« on: January 27, 2005, 09:40:52 PM »
Hi I am new to snowtroopers and new to star wars collecting.  3 months ago OTC infected my blood stream and took over my body and soul.  I became concerned that I may have a problem when I heard about the problems people are having getting Scanning Troopers - I have 10.

Thanks go out to the guy representing Markham - he mentioned that the Star War Figure cases were available at Square one in Mississauga - I had been looking for these for awhile. Hard to find in Canada. I have a question about them, if anyone knows the answer- the Darth Vader Figure cases came with a Han and Chewie figure. The Hasbro site shows them with a Boba Fett and Stormtrooper.  Is mine an early edition or just a mistake?

The second indication that I may have a problem is When I walked into the Toysrus tonight the girls in the Customer service area - said out loud "It's the Star Wars guy"  Just like at Cheers. By the way Preview figures are out in Toysrus in Ontario.
That's it for step 1 in my 10 step process: admiting I may have a problem.
