It will be interesting to see if they do open it up to International - how big the spike in backers is.  If we take our site into consideration, 25 people in Canada, 50 ? Just not sure how many of us are out there that will be jumping on board.

Hmm... now I'm wondering about the state of collecting if this DOES succeed. I can see Hasbro potentially abusing this business model, using it to put out more and more collector-grade stuff that should actually be sold in stores. All while charging us a premium because we should feel "lucky" to have them at all. I can see it now... including the Nerf projectiles!  :rollfloorlaffsmiley:

I was thinking the same thing Wedge regarding: if it DOES succeed.

Now if the Jabba the Hutt Sail Barge does come with Nerf Projectiles, we know we have all been had. :u:

Not sure how many International Buyers will cause an up tick considering:

$500 US
x 1.3 (exchange rate)
x 1.085 (average New York State tax)
x 1.13 (HST into Ontario)
= $796.93 CDN.

Gotta assume once you ship and have a higher VAT tax.  That the Europeans are at least looking at $1000 CDN for this item if they find a friend in the states.  Maybe even worst considering how big this items is and shipping cost.

" we need the help of our most passionate fans in order to make this a reality for all Star Wars collectors"

This is a direct quote from the video on the HASLAB site.

So based on what they are stating, it would seem that we will be getting a version of the Jabba Sail Barge .

If you are jumping on board the band wagon, I think what you will be getting is a first in line ticket, a nice booklet on how the product was developed, Vintage all English packaging and probably the Jabba - will be what makes this a unique product.

5000 x $500 = $2,500,000.00  US,  let's get our customers to pay us to develop products, let them pay for the production of the product, packaging and distribution.   And let's make a profit while doing it.

Scout Report / Gentle Giant will start producing mass market toys
« on: February 16, 2018, 08:48:57 AM »
I found this interesting, just got an email announcing Gentle Giant Ltd. expands into the mass toy market.
My first thought was that the genesis of this idea came out of the fact over the last year or so it appeared that Hasbro gave Gentle Giant a hard time over using the Kenner name on it's packaging.   And now what was once a defensive move by Hasbro has put Gentle Giant on the offence and could possibly do more damage to Hasbro market share than had they just let Gentle Giant use the Kenner logo on it's packaging.  But when you see the range of products the story could be that Hasbro got wind of the fact Gentle Giant was going into the mass consumer market and then decided they did not want a new competitor using their logo on a GG product.   Either way we get more junk to collect !!!

I am just hoping Han Solo gets a proper death scene in this movie since they did such a bad job in TFA.   :u:

Do I sense a Star Trek time loop about to happen?  :P

I agree with jjreason.   :scared0008:

Thanks for posting the link.  I like the scenes and settings, at this point the biggest problem I am feeling is the actor playing Han Solo.  From the lines he delivered in the trailer - I can't say I think I am looking at a Young Han Solo.   And unfortunately playing a young version of an iconic character carries a lot of weight for an actor.    Hopefully when I see the whole movie he will be able to do it.

Thanks to having 3 PVRs in our house, I actually watch a lot of TV.  I don't watch any of them live.

So here is the list in order of what I look forward to watching:

1) Gotham - great show
2) X-Files - showing my age
3) Lethal Weapon - love Riggs
4) Star Trek Discovery
5) CBS Sunday Morning - must see TV
6) Criminal Minds - strangely I fall to sleep to this one often
7) Law and Order -also I use this to fall asleep
8. Super Girl - watch this with my daughter
9) Flash
10) DC Legends of Tomorrow
11) 60 minutes
12) Marvel Agent of Shield
13) Marvel Runaway
14) Survivor
15) Amazing Race
16) Star Wars Rebels - I have all of them PVR for this season and have not watched any of them yet - so not sure if it is any good.

If it was not for the PVR, I would probably make an effort to watch the first 5 on my list.  I tend to miss a lot of shows - like 10 and then watch them while I am working out.  Right now I am watching the Flash from October.

Hope it worked out - there was some suggestion none would get to retail! Please let us know how the build goes.

As per the re-sellers - that's still a big risk to me. I hope some of them get "stuck" with it & learn their lesson the expensive way.  :kar:

jjreason,  they were taking a risk.  When I bought mine on December 15th - they told me if I brought it back in mint condition, unopened, there would still be a 10% restocking fee.  Glad Lego did this to stop resellers from buying and thinking they can return with no cost to them.

I just contacted the nice lego people and they told me that my my VIP card should be coming the end of this month to the middle on next month.  Each one is made in Germany.

Well better go......Day 35 of building this big lego MF ..... final got Han Solo put together.  :) :winking0071:

So, do the TRU staff finally know your first name after all these years?

Now they call me Mr. StarWars guy :) Pretty hard to not know my name after the 10,000th time you run anyone's visa card through a machine.   Good people at our TRU, except for the guy who resells stuff.   I hope they don't loose their jobs.
