No, Iím not kidding. Hayden Christensen was praised for everything he had been in before Episode 2 (higher ground, life as a house) and look how that turned out. I am just worried that the fact they donít show any significant seen with him means they are worried about what fans will think. I hope I am overthinking it.

Hayden was a teenager when AOTC was being filmed, with little to no cred at all (Life as a House was ok)

Glover is now 35 years old with a boatload of cred.  I don't think it's even a close comparison - Alden is a much close comparison but even then he's got more behind him than Hayden ever did.

You can go ahead and be worried for the movie for a lot of reason , but worry not about the Donald
My point is simply that past performance doesnít mean everything. If you donít like the Hayden comparison, how about Natalie Portman? She had been nominated for and won various awards for roles in films like Leon (the professional), Everyone Says I Love You, Beautiful Girls, etc. And yet she was underwhelming in the prequels, partly due to the writing and partly the directing. So, if they wrote the part poorly and the directing wasnít great, then it could be a crappy Lando no matter who is playing him.

Ok, I have seen the full teaser now, not just the abbreviated Super Bowl version.  I still am worried about Lando - they donít even have him deliver a line, which makes me worry that he is not a great Lando and they are hiding it. The Han is not outstanding in this, either. However, I will definitely see it and reserve my judgement until a few viewings.

Are you kidding me?  Donald Glover is amazing in everything he's ever been in.  He's practically the reason I can be assured a quality performance in this movie (And Harrelson is normally quite good even though I'm not always chuffed with the characters he plays)

I am not watching much now. I just finished season 2 of Stranger Things, which is a great show and I highly recommend it to anyone, but it is particularly good for a child of the 80s because of the nostalgia factor.

I have only seen the teaser, but I also am a bit worried that this guy wonít make a good Han Solo. It showed so little, but I have the same concern regarding Donald Glover being Lando. These guys are classic OT characters, and I hope they are done right.

To be fair, I did love Ewan MacGregor as Obi-Wan in the PT, so maybe these guys can pull it off.

i agree re: the frequency. I wouldnít mind every two years, but every year may be too much. However, it has at least been tolerable in that the core movies are only every 2 years, and the others are just tie-ins really.

I am also not sure about this selection. The style and tone of Game of Thrones is not really what we have come to expect from Star Wars, which is much more lighthearted (and solidly PG). Can these guys tone it down, and still have the tone of GoT but with a PG (or PG-13) rating?

I have only seen the Star Wars one so far. It has been a while since I have watched any Star Wars documentary and actually learned much of anything, but I did learn some things from this. For example, I had no idea that Lucasfilm and Fox each only got 2.5% of toy sales from Kenner figures. Kenner must have raked it in from that deal!

There are a number of reasons for this IMHO, not the least of which is that Star Wars is released just 2 weeks before Christmas - not enough time for kids to get interested in the movie to start asking Santa for Star Wars under the tree. Also, The Last Jedi didn't really have enough scenes in it that kids would want to recreate (e.g.: does any kid want to recreate the casino scene?), unlike the original trilogy where there were tonnes of scenes we would recreate as kids. The electronics aisle is also luring kids away earlier than in the past too, as well as the Lego aisle. I found that the product offerings for the current movie were fairly limited too. I can understand keeping certain items under wraps given that they may be key plot points, but what the market was provided in 2017 was less than inspiring.
I think you have a point. Great scenes to re-enact (along with playlets to re-enact them with!) are really nice for kids. I used to love re-enacting Hoth scenes with my rebel turret playset with exploding probe droid figure when I was a kid. I wish they would do more playsets.
The timing issue is a big one, too. I'm not sure if that will be enough to sway them away from the December release schedule, given the box office success, but it certainly hurts the toy sales.

Anyone on here playing Battlefront 2 on PS4?
I have it (well, my son does) but I actually haven't had time to try it yet. Hopefully soon!

This is a great poll!  I had both Star Wars and ESB on NES.  Pretty sure I beat them because at the end of ESB it had a teaser for Return of the Jedi.

I never beat the 3 SNES games because girls were starting to get in the way at that point.

When I got my PS4 I got the Battlfront Edition with 4 Star Wars games. Super Star Wars is one of them.
Me too! I played it for a bit. It was a good game, for sure.

That reminds me of a video I saw recently - someone making the Kylo Ten/Luke battle on Crait scene in 16 bit glory! I thought it was pretty awesome. Check it out here

I will go with:

ANH
ESB
ROJ
ROTS
Rogue One
TPM
AOTC
BSG
TFA
TLJ

LOL, did you put Battlestar Galactica on your Star Wars list? For shame, you know mixing sci-fi franchises is a serious offence!  :rollfloorlaffsmiley:

The kids and I watched the Holiday Special for the first (and will be ONLY) time the other day.
I have toyed with the idea of listing that higher than TFA/TLJ, but I just can't bring myself to do it.
I do equate them with each other as far as my own "head canon" goes - they never happened.

I think for me, the measure of whether a new SW film is good or not is how it makes me feel about the originals. Does it add something or make me look at the OT films in a different way or with greater appreciation? Then it's a good addition to the franchise. It should build up and compliment the originals, not actively try to tear them down and stomp all over them. While one could argue that parts of the prequels messed with the OT a bit, I think overall they made me look at the OT films a bit differently and read some scenes in a new way - ROTS in particular did that. In a similar way, Rogue One helped to raise ANH to a higher level in my mind - it was easily my least favourite of the OT films but now I'd happily put it against any film in the saga.

ROTJ
Rogue One & ANH
ESB
ROTS
TPM
AOTC
some fan films
a ham sandwich
TFA
TLJ & The Holiday Special
I love the list - not that I agree completely, but I do like a good ham sandwich :winking0071:

For me, its:
ROTJ
ESB
ANH
R1
ROTS
TPM
TLJ
TFA
AOTC

As my interest in complete, MOC new figures has died off the last few years (a combination for Hasbro going crazy with figs and various 3 3/4 lines, not loving the newer movies as much as the originals, and running out of wall space!), I decided to start back at the beginning and fill in my vintage gaps. I am starting with loose figs, and got about 20 or so loose, complete figures for Christmas that filled in some gaps. I am excited about filling in the rest - it's the first time I have been excited about collecting for a while, which I think is a good thing, although my wife (and my pocket book) may disagree :rollfloorlaffsmiley:

I also love the cardboard spaceship! Cool stuff.

And great comments about the evolution of Star Wars :)`
