Online Shopping - Who's Got the Hot Items??? / Target
« on: October 17, 2017, 04:11:52 PM »
Has anyone bought from the Target site? Which company did the shipping? How were duties? Packaging etc?

The Toys - Snowtrooper Reviews! / Force Link
« on: September 05, 2017, 11:41:37 PM »
Anyone buy one of these and already tried it out? Worth the money? I have a son who's into SW whom I feel might find this cool but I'm kind of feeling meh about shelling out for one. Anyone?

Non-Star Wars Toys / DC Multiverse 6" figures
« on: May 03, 2017, 10:26:47 PM »
My son is collecting these somewhat (I'm somewhat collecting the DC collectible figures and we're sort of mix and matching).

Anyone else collecting these or at least paying attention to them when they see them at retail? I'm asking because I've found only ONE Walmart in my area over the last month that is carrying the latest wave with Zoom, Hawkman, etc. And I grabbed Zoom and Hawkman and Jay Garrick but skipped on the Batman (Gordon), Batgirl and Joker. Then went back today (almost 4 weeks later) and managed to only find the Joker! We want to build King Shark! Before I look online thought I'd see if anyone was finding these at retail or if this one Walmart got these completely by accident. I'd try to be patient if anyone else is seeing them. Thanks!

The Toys - Snowtrooper Reviews! / Will we get the variety of yesteryear?
« on: October 13, 2016, 01:49:56 PM »
I was thinking about this and how there have not been a ton of new releases for minor or background characters for TFA yet. Not that there wasn't a fair number (in 5 POA) to start with but...

Given that Disney is going to be churning out at least a film a year by the looks of it for the foreseeable future, what do you think the chances are that we will be getting background rebel #27 and their off-white/silver astromech any time soon? I mean, when Kenner/Hasbro ran with it for the last almost 2 decades they had basically 3...then finally 6 films and the EU to dip into. Maybe toy makers simply will struggle to keep up with the main/frontline characters from every new offering?

The Vintage Collection (TVC) / TVC collection
« on: August 18, 2016, 10:10:33 AM »
Not sure this is the right place to ask but I'm considering trying to sell my carded TVC collection (or loose, not sure yet) as one big lot as I'd rather not get stuck with pieces. Though of course I may go down that road if I actually decide to sell at all.

I collected only the OT figures so I have a complete (with some variants too) OT TVC carded and loose collection.

I'm thinking of selling one of them and I'm assuming the carded would fetch more.

Does anyone have any idea how much I should price these at? I've been searching eBay but not finding anything similar nor even any larger lots of TVC figures. Individual figure prices vary of course but there are a few pieces anyway that seem to be going for $40-$60 per figure. Not asking anyone to do the work/math for me just wondered if anyone has stumbled upon a complete OT collection and knew what it was going for before I either over/under price it...if I sell. God so hard to decide!

The Force Awakens (2015-2016) / TFA Ackbar
« on: April 18, 2016, 09:02:43 PM »
OK, why do I love this figure so much?? I can't seem to stop moving his "action feature" to interact with the rest of my family in my best Ackbar voice!

The Force Awakens (2015-2016) / Kylo Ren Mask Black Series
« on: January 22, 2016, 08:27:01 AM »
Has anyone bought and opened the Black Series Kylo Ren mask? Curious about dimensions and features and if it is worth the $85 before taxes.

Expanded Universe - Legacy & the New EU / Star Wars Short Story ebooks
« on: January 19, 2016, 06:19:08 PM »
It appears the author Landry Quinn Walker has 3 ebook short stories out with characters from TFA including the Crimson Corsair. Not sure if anyone knows anything about these, like if they will be collected in a paper format or anything. Will probably buy at least one and check it out. Anyone read them?

The Force Awakens (2015-2016) / TFA 5 POA figures
« on: September 21, 2015, 09:30:06 AM »
I've bought several of these with the intention that they become my youngest kid's figures but if I'm honest also to see if I could live with 5 POA if SA becomes extinct or too expensive or difficult to find.

My current feeling: Nice sculpts, posing is not terrible but once you get a figure that should really be holding a weapon with two hands (flamethrower trooper for example) you really feel the lack of articulation. His only pose is "relaxed" unless you want to believe he'd be able to one hand such a weapon. Maybe some swivel upper arms or some ability to put the weapon in two hands would be a better feature. Either that of pre-pose the arms to hold it the correct way. Not ideal but at this point the limitation goes the other way posed to "wait neutrally for action".

So far I have opened Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma and the Flamethrower Trooper. The first two seem fine to me in terms of their limited articulation not being an obvious hindrance to enjoyment. I would like if Captain Phasma could hold her weapon in two hands but it seemed less obviously a problem than the trooper for me anyway.

The Force Awakens (2015-2016) / TFA Armour Up Figures
« on: September 08, 2015, 10:59:29 PM »
Saw some today and have to say they are wishy washy…had seen a couple but every Poe I find looks wonky in the eyes. And definitely NOT worth the price (it's a regular 5 POA figure with a little armour jacket…that evidently costs $5).

Instead of continuing to discuss this in the midnight madness thread I thought I'd start one here!

Half way through now and it too 160 pages for them to get to one little tidbit of interesting post ROTJ-leading-into-I-imagine-the-plot-for_TFA. Contains minor spoilers.

Other than that it is weakly written, every time Ackbar is in a chapter he's worried about something being another "trap". I'm not kidding.

The rest of the time we're following several different characters on a planet where some Imperials are meeting to try to figure out how best to reinvigorate the Empire.
One of them is in charge of the last Super Star Destroyer, another has bumped himself up to Grand Moff and then there's at least one person who was Palpatine's confidant.

Wedge is captured early on and does not come back until half way through…where I'm at.

I think at the end I might be satisfied to know a bit more about where TFA might be taking us but the experience of the book itself is a let down and I"m trying not to let it influence my thoughts on how the film might be.

Perhaps the most interesting thing so far (spoiler) but not that surprising is the supposedly during his reign Palpatine had people exploring the edges of the galaxy for dark Force related "anything"…knowledge, source of power, artifacts etc. And one of the Imperials suggests moving the Empire out there I guess to both see who they meet and to come up with a better plan…even if that will take years.

The Toys - Snowtrooper Reviews! / Black Series 3.75 OT figures
« on: August 07, 2015, 09:15:26 AM »
I received the following in the mail yesterday:

Dagobah Test Vader
Mosep Bineed
Han Solo Carbonite
Leia Boushh
Dutch Vander

Overall I'm happy, in part because the hunt is over for me!

Mosep - Awesome though simple. Like I said in my thread about receiving them he has some weird ankle articulation making it hard to get him to stand, at least on the one I got. I'll be trying to find at least one other for customizing.
Jawas - Feels like a great deal, really nice figures that keep reminding me of the vintage ones for some reason even though there is no cloth involved. Their issue is the apparent inability to hold the Ion rifle with two hands, seems impossible to me.
Dutch Vander - fine but we have him and now we have him with a bit more articulation. Probably the most yawn worthy figure for me other than the Threepio repack that I passed on.
Dagobah Vader - After opening him up was pretty disappointed to find that removing his head is difficult and then looks ugly with a peg sticking out. The raison d'être of this figure is that he is from a scene in which his head it cut off and his face plate explodes to reveal Luke's face. I think Hasbro could have easily worked on making the detachable head something more interesting, more "screen accurate", either a magnetic attachment or hidden peg, perhaps behind a lip on the neck of the helmet? I just think they needed to hide that peg, toy or not! Otherwise he's a Vader with a little piece of his face plate that comes off. Ugh, and just realized his cape falls off unless you're wanting to tape it or something if you want to display it with head removed! Ok, not my favourite figure at all.
Han Solo and Boushh - haven't opened them yet but will and update later.

Star Wars Movies & TV shows / Star Wars Saga Digital Release
« on: April 07, 2015, 06:40:20 PM »
Just got the email from Disney…April 10…89.99 US for all 6. Looks like they are the Blu-ray releases though it isn't clearly stated. The x-wings over the DS in the ANH clips look "special edition" at least.

Non-Star Wars Toys / Age of Ultron
« on: January 30, 2015, 09:23:20 AM »
Saw some Age of Ultron stuff at a Walmart last night…that weird smaller than 3.75 scale but looking even bigger than the GOTG 2" figures. It looked bad, cheap and bad.
