Star Wars Trivia / ROTJ Trivia question
« on: November 23, 2010, 12:19:58 PM »
Who has the last line of ROTJ spoken in an intelligible language (so, depending on the version you watch, probably in English or French)? And what is that line (last sentence let's say)?

Does anyone have one of these yet? Are the packages, by any chance, smartly designed so that you can remove and put the figure back without damaging the card? Some sort of snapping mechanism perhaps?

Scout Report / Catch and Release?
« on: October 27, 2010, 11:40:49 PM »
I might end up sounding like a crazy person, but I've just realized something about my "collecting" habits and wonder if anyone finds themselves doing this:

I think it has to do with the thrill of the hunt (or "fishing"...why I use the "catch and release" metaphor), but I find myself, maybe 20 to 30 percent of the time, buying something I find in the wild (especially new items just released for the first time) knowing I will probably take it back within a week or so.

I know part of it has to do with seeing it, thinking it looks cool, not being able to decide then and there if I really want it or "need" it and knowing that as long as I keep track of my receipts and keep the item from being opened I can take it back no harm done.

I know a part of my psychology around this has to do with the regret I feel (or at least felt for about a decade starting in the mid-90s) over not having been a wise enough kid to know that I could have made a lot of money by buying and storing original Vintage figures until the present. So there is that fantasy too that maybe the item I have just discovered might be valuable to someone (hahahahahahaha! At least not after the first week of hype has worn off!).

Anyway, just curious if this is a somewhat relatively common habit amongst us? I find it funny because it really is the thrill of the hunt. I mean, just this past week I picked up a Grievous and 2 Magnaguards even though I have more or less sold off the PT part of my collection and have no intention of starting over. And tonight I pulled out the receipt and the figures to take them back on my way to work tomorrow because I know I don't really want them (not in a box carded, not on a wall carded and especially not after they are open and on a shelf...where would they go? I've got no PT themed shelves anymore and once they are opened more than half the reason I was attracted to them in the first place is now in my recycling bin (the cool vintage style packaging!).

Am I alone in this? :speechless-smiley-004:

Non-Star Wars Toys / TRON merchandise
« on: October 14, 2010, 02:46:03 PM »
I was excited to read about the upcoming Tron figures "innovations" a month or so ago. But now that I've seen them in my hands I have to say the gimmicks don't live up to the hype. And the 3 3/4 inch line is laughable for the most part. I wanted to get a Kevin Flynn figure but the likeness to Jeff Bridges is laughable. The other figures seem to have the one light-up button gimmick going on and all look relatively similar. Hope the movie ends up being great!

Scout Report / TVC Sandtrooper

Got mine from Legends (so no, sorry, not hitting retail yet as far as I know).

I really really like him even if he is just a repack. The carded, vintage version really made me smile... I think it was Adam May on Galactichunter that said if it didn't make you smile "you are dead inside" and I have to agree! I hope he's just the first in a long line of wow, if only they had made him back in the day figures that will be released and give off that same vibe. Of course, I almost wish he was the orange pauldron version but here's hoping for a running change down the road!  :u:

Scout Report / Mail-Away Rocket Firing Boba Fett 2010
« on: August 21, 2010, 05:49:15 PM »
One of my four cheques was cashed Friday for the mail-away Fett! So, 6-8 weeks before I find out if I get an Eopie with Qui Gon!  :P

In all the discussion about how the new TVC C-3PO stacks up to others, to compare I put him side by side the one that came with the Resurgence BP and noticed, for the first time, just how "silver" this battle pack version is compared to the other Legacy versions using the same mold. I would dare say that if you could get the black "dirt" off him he'd made a better U-3PO than the officially colored one they released as a BAD figure! At least according to what I see using my DVD/TV configuration! Just an observation I thought I'd share...

Snowtrooper Recruitment / hello everyone
« on: October 15, 2007, 09:59:19 PM »

I can't quite remember how I found out about this site...I think I was on Sandtrooper's forums and someone mentioned something about it.  Anyway, glad to be on board. Anybody else a Montreal area collector out there?
