Star Wars Movies & TV shows / Re: Young Han Solo: the movie

No, Iím not kidding. Hayden Christensen was praised for everything he had been in before Episode 2 (higher ground, life as a house) and look how that turned out. I am just worried that the fact they donít show any significant seen with him means they are worried about what fans will think. I hope I am overthinking it.

Hayden was a teenager when AOTC was being filmed, with little to no cred at all (Life as a House was ok)

Glover is now 35 years old with a boatload of cred.  I don't think it's even a close comparison - Alden is a much close comparison but even then he's got more behind him than Hayden ever did.

You can go ahead and be worried for the movie for a lot of reason , but worry not about the Donald

Ok, I have seen the full teaser now, not just the abbreviated Super Bowl version.  I still am worried about Lando - they donít even have him deliver a line, which makes me worry that he is not a great Lando and they are hiding it. The Han is not outstanding in this, either. However, I will definitely see it and reserve my judgement until a few viewings.

Are you kidding me?  Donald Glover is amazing in everything he's ever been in.  He's practically the reason I can be assured a quality performance in this movie (And Harrelson is normally quite good even though I'm not always chuffed with the characters he plays)

16) Star Wars Rebels - I have all of them PVR for this season and have not watched any of them yet - so not sure if it is any good.

Seriously?  You are really, really missing out here.  Especially after season 1.  Most episodes are top quality stuff (there's a couple of fluff ones in there, but that's almost every series. ever)

i would watch Rebels basically before everything else on your list.

It's Sabotage! (to borrow from my beloved Beastie Boys).

Disney is purposefully causing Hasbro's sales to slump so they can start making the figures themselves the next time the contract comes up for renewal!  :fighting0072:

Trust no one! Need more tinfoil!

Lol - it wouldn't be the worst thing.  The Elite Series and especially the Premium Elite series are superior in almost every fashion to Hasbro's offerings.   Dunno how'd they'd do with 3.75"

Of course, Disney Stores are few and far in between and they have no Canadian online market so it would probably be worse unless things change with their relationship with other retailers.

Article from The Star today:

https://www.thestar.com/business/2018/01/18/star-wars-toy-sales-fall-as-movie-tie-in-fatigue-sets-in.html

There's a lot of things to discuss here, but this comment struck a chord:

ďStar Wars is a force to be reckoned with in the toy industry,Ē the brandís owner, Walt Disney Co., said in a statement. ďIt remains the leading film-driven property for the entire year."

This quote seems to be a defense quote from the Mouse House justifying the amount of money they charged Hasbro et all for toy licenses.

I'm putting my bet on right now - when that license comes up for renewal in 2020, they won't get 1/10th the offer of what they got the last time from Hasbro.

That Rey looks pretty awesome.

Cloak look a little off but the digital facial tech they are using is looking pretty sweet.   Spitting image of Daisey Ridley

My two 6" Black Series ERGs were down to $19ish.... Now $29.99 each again. Why, why,why am I so cheap. LoL , I should have at least purchased them and played the CJ game of canceling my order every 12 hours as the price drops, until it doesn't.
Oh well  :mad0218:

I wouldn't worry - ERG is a repack in the next wave so it shouldn't be too hard to get even at retail - eventually.

What they didn't really mention was the rise of Joes actually being responsible in part for the downfall of the SW line. As soon as I had wave 2 Joes in my hands with the swivel arm articulation - any interest I had in finishing off the last couple of waves of SW figures was long, long, long gone. You couldn't compare the two products in any other category beside height.

That may be the case, but most kids of the age intended were a little less discriminatory in the articulation of the toys. Keep in mind right now the most successful "toy" line out there bear almost no likeness at all to the their screen counterparts and often have only a single point of articulation.

While GI Joe may have been physically superior, their success at the time rested a lot on the fact they had a successful morning cartoon, and Star Wars had Ewoks and Droids.  Both of which paled in comparison to Transformers in terms of toy sales.

In other news, this show is up for "worst theme song" in tv history.  :speechless-smiley-004:

Agreed on the theme song!

Some of the stuff in the documentary was news - the part about the contract with Kenner and Lucasfilm was interesting. I thought they could have gone more into the dying days of the original line (Power of the Force 85) and some of the thinking that went into making decisions about what got made.

Also, I would love to know how Hasbro and Disney work out the deal on toys.  They literally have competing toy lines (Disney's being only sold at Disney stores - I'd love to know the details of that deal!)

The Leia scene needed something else - tough to do when Fisher passed though.

Blue Milk Luke was 10 seconds of my life I will never get back.

Phasma was unnecessary.

I liked Snoke.  Annoyed that we never found out who he was.

I liked Luke (other than Blue Milk).  Hamill did a great job.  I also liked Yoda - I can see where other's didn't.

R2 playing the holo leia message was the best moment in the movie.

But I want to complain about one thing and make you think about it

If this movie was *really* daring, take all of Vice Admiral Holdo's lines, and give them to a still living Admiral Ackbar. Everything from stunning the group to sacrificing himself.

Movie is so much better IMHO if Ackbar doesn't just die off-screen.  Sorry Laura Dern, you were cute but the wrong choice by a mile.

All I want is some cheap black series 3.75" figures to make up for all the ones I've had to buy on line because I didn't think there would be a snowball's chance on Mustafar that they would show up in Canada.

Uggh.

Was at a Wally today and they had the Stormrtooper Executioner, Rose, Snoke, Luke 3/75" - and they were all on for 7.97.

At that price I can't say no.

Got my Amazon exclusive Elite Praetorian Guard today - I was initially horrified to see it came in a packing envelope, but then I opened that to find it was packed in a white Hasbro packing box, so 30 second crisis averted.
