Here is a pic of me and the family from last October.  Both my boys are Star Wars fanatics like their old man. My wife, also a Star Wars fan,  is very supportive of my collecting addiction.

beautiful family, and finding a spouse who supports this crazy hobby is a real gem.

Thanks I am a lucky guy.  When I first met her I thought there is now way a hottie like her is going to appreciate my collection.  So when I finally showed it to her she was totally impressed and blown away.  That is when at that point I decided to sell off my complete vintage collection to buy her an engagement ring.  We have been married 10 years now and I have been able to pretty much collect back the entire vintage line except for some of the last 17.  So I guess I won on both fronts!!

No disrespect, but you were worried she wouldn't appreciate your collection? If that was me, I would want to make sure the "hottie" liked me, before my collection.

I think that was a given. I know my wife (gf at the time) thought my love of star wars was a cool hobby (god she had no idea what she was getting into  :star-wars-smiley-008:) but it wasn't somethiing I talked about on our first date, if you know what I mean.

Exactly Ambasah.  Thats what I was saying  as time went on I obviously knew she liked me, Star Wars being secondary to this of course.  I gradually brought up my Star Wars infatuation.  I made sure that she was totally into me until I actually showed her the collection.    Hey I sold a good portion of my vintage collection at the time to buy her the ring, so I knew where my priorities were.

I agree with you Darth Chadus, I also wanted to make sure my wife was into me before I brought up the whole Star Wars obsession. As a matter of fact, she already knew from other friends, apparently, before I even told her. She's great; looks for things I don't have when she goes out, lol.

You guys are lucky.

My wife had no idea about my obsession. It wasn't until my Mother insisted I take all my stuff out of her storage (I moved around a lot prior to meeting my wife) that she got an inkling of what she had married into. She tolerates it but I know she has no love for it. I remind her it's better than me going out with the boys and drinking beer or playing really expensive spots like hockey. My Star Wars hobby it pretty tame... except for the space it eats up. If our house was bigger she probably wouldn't care at all.

Although, a few weeks ago when I brought in my latest purchase my 8-year old daughter looked at me and said, "You really gotta stop that".

What does she know? She's 8 and listens to Justin Bieber.  :)

Yeah, I've had my kids ask me Why I need so many? or Why do you like it so much, it's just a movie? Or my son even explaining to me why Lego is a better hobby to be into (he's almost 5 btw). What I hope is that my obsessiveness actually turns them off collecting themselves and I'll spare them that down the road!  :P

Ha! I keep a box of figures and stuff that I no longer want or care about for the kids who come to my place. There is nothing worse in my mind then seeing a kids eyes light up when they see my collection and then telling them they can't touch any of it. So at least now I can go....don't touch the displayed stuff, but go nuts on this giant box of stuff. It usually does the trick.  :tongue0024:
