Vintage Falcon (BMF)
« on: October 23, 2012, 04:29:38 PM »

So TRU.com has the vintage packaged Big Millenium Falcon listed for $250. Did they add gold plated parts in it somewhere? An actual working hyperdrive? I just don't see how it costs $250 for a repack of a vehicle that was $160 just 4 years ago. I know it's TRU and their prices are already crazy to begin with ($189 MTT, $150 Endor BAT-AT), but this is silly. I was looking forward to being able to pick this thing up for less-than-ebay prices but I guess not. Now I'll probably have to wait and hope that it shelf rots and I can get it on clearance in a couple years. Way to go Hasbro and TRU.  :sad0064:

Maybe the extra cost is from fixing the landing gear?

Glad I snagged one for 90 bucks shipped.

That is a crazy price... maybe they're just testing the waters to see how much an adult collector would be willing to pay for nostalgia?  TRU probably expects that this is more for adult buyers than little kids, so they could feel that an adult collector is likely to splurge on the $250.  Not me, but maybe someone...  both this and the $30 SpeederBikes are just TRU testing our resolve :)

Other than the box, are there any differences? Different sound chip? Anything? (not that it would change my mind, just curious...I'm not getting one).

Crazy price.  Even 25% off (if they have a sale) is $187.50, which is crazy.   :speechless-smiley-004:

Yeah, plus tax too. I understand it is a premium item, and $250 msrp MIGHT be acceptable, IF the exact same thing hadn't already been released just a few short years ago for a much lower price. This just seem like milking the cow for all it's worth on Hasbro/TRU's part.

Take heart in the fact that this Falcon is, in all honesty, too big. There is literally no place in my average house to put it. In my mind the OTC Falcon is the "perfect" version, even though it's the smaller scale.
