A question about your favorite stores
« on: January 27, 2007, 08:32:15 PM »

Here is a question I have for all the troops.
I was wondering why people choose to buy there toys and other merchandise in one store and not another??  What is it about the store that you regularly visit that makes it the place you choose to spend the majority of your disposable income??
For example , I like Toy traders in Langley, because the prices are always fare and I love seeing what new additions matt has made to the display ( this is not a plug for toy traders).

I would love to know what stores you guys go to and why?
Is it the location?
The prices?
The people that work there?
The ambiance ?
The displays?
Something else?

Thx1138

I like toy traders as well, it's a tad bit out of my way coming from North Van if I had to get technical, but I usually have trades or know that there are items I am looking for . I like stores that have good prices, nice looking cashiers :tongue0024:, good selection and having a repore (sp)? with the staff or owner. I have probably been to at least 90% of the collector/speciality stores in the lower mainland that carry the stuff I am looking for but not too many of the staff or owners know who I am or care less what I buy at their store, or they are just s and that is enough for me to stay away. On the plus side I don't feel as obligated to purchase something at their store just because I know them, and they have seen me in their store.
I am not a big fan of malls. So automaticly I would shop less/not at all unless I am there for another reason.

The only sponsor I buy from here is TOY ADDICT in Toronto.  Even though the store is a bit out of the way for me (I am in the 'burbs of Markham), I visit it every so often if I have to make a trip downtown.  But primarily I purchase over the phone with the owner Pedro.  He is great to deal with.  His prices are fair and he shoots off updated emails every so often with what's new in his store or upcoming products with special pricing on preorders.

Is Kool Stuff still open?  I drove by recently and it appeared to be rather closed.  I could be wrong...please correct me if that's the case.

They're COLLECTIBLES.  They don't become TOYS until you take them out of the package.

NO exclusives please - we're Canadian!

Nope, its 2 doors down, but on the OTHER side. I thought the same thing, then read the sign, and notice it was a couple doors on the right side.

They did a lil story on them a few weeks back on CH news, I think it was Randy Steele's Steelestown.

I'm cheap.

I love the deal Legends has going but that's only if the wave warrants me buying a case. Zellers used to be my hotspot for new waves and Walmart was good for the cheapies. Toys R Us would be for when I was desperate and Planet X was for stuff that was exclusives or generally hard to find.

I'd love to support the local shops more but I have to save the pennies where I can.

I purchase from Legends and Toy Addict and have always been impressed with their customer service.  Around where I live it has been Toys R Us that has kept me up to date with the newest figures.  Zellers and Walmart fell really short of the mark this year to the point where I rarely look for figures at their stores anymore.
