Elite Tie Fighter
« on: August 08, 2007, 10:35:52 PM »

I just got my 181st Tie Fighter from TRU.com  the Tie fighter is a nice improvement from the last issue.  This time around the center pod is from the recent White Tie fighter so it has the new hatch.  The paint is also well done.  The 181st version is grey vs the blue version of the past.  Also a nice touch is the kill markings and red stripes on the wings

As for the pilot it is a repaint of the Saga version. The vest is painted grey but not painted well.  Looks like it was done by hand.  The helmet also is misshappen but I don't know if it the case with all of them.  Now I need a Baron to go with it

That'd be nice but hasbro sucks too much to do something nice like that.  If they didn't suck so much they'd also produce a non-exclusive Imperial Shuttle!

I like the overall look, and the kill markings is a nice extra but the red stripes look silly. It makes it look like the glue hasn't dried yet and they had to tape the wings togther to hold it in place while they dry.

The red stripes are what put me off. Not getting it.

I wouldn't mind it if they'd done it as a Titanium, and did the Royal Guard Interceptor as a full size, but if i had the space, i'd get this anyway, since the interceptor is my favorite of the entire TIE Line (yes, even beating out the Defender)

I think that the red stripe is ugly.  I've always wanted an Interceptor though.  I'm not really into customizations that's not my bag, so I wouldn't repaint it.  I'd probably end up doing a real crappy job too.  Maybe I'll try and find an original on ebay.

I love it!  :)`I also had no idea it was up for sale already!

I thought this ship was for the Baron Fel figure that's coming out in a future wave of comic 2 packs - I'm surprised it had a pilot packed in as well.

The shuttle did come out again, as recently as 2005 - this time at Target, for about $70 US. After I had spent $200 CDN to get my FAO Saga version a few years earlier, I felt pretty much like this:  :fighting0072: :speechless-smiley-004: :mad0218:

^^I'm aware of both the FAO and the Target ones, that's why I said that I'd like them to produce a non-exclusive one.  That way I could get my silly little hands on one more easily.  There's an FAo one here at a specialty store going for $200, I refuse to pay that kind of money on it.  I'm patient, I'll buy one when the time is right..and more importantly when the price is right.  Price is right, Drew Carey, no!

We just came back from the states and my son picked up one of the Elite Tie Fighters.  Before he got it I was not that impressed with the red stripes.  It looked silly to me - but now seeing it out of the book in person with the kill marking (11) X-wings and (8) y-wings, I think the red stripes look appropriate.  The Elite squad are guys who want you to be scared of them and wnat you to know they are coming - so the red stripes make sense.   They are going for $34.99 US as are the Y-Wings.
And the AT-AT are going for $99.99 US more than the $89.99 CDN we are paying!

They might come out up here, i mean the Bantha Y-wing and AT-AT has so what is there to stop this? Although if it is more $ then the Y-wing i might just pass.

I think there is a report of someone in BC finding these on shelves.
