Wow that sucks.  Just goes to show how trust is a very broad term.  Trust that the products we buy don't kill us or make us sick.  We trust companies who earn a reputation that the money we spend on their product is what we get, nothing more and nothing less.  We trust all the way down to the cook at a local restaurant that he washes his hands after using the washroom before preparing the meal that we eat.

I could go on but I don't like to think about that stuff for too long or too much otherwise I would pretty much trust no one.

Had to take away my sons Batmaobile this morning, Luckily I have already started buying Christmas presents and was able to give him a new toy rin its place, no I just have to wait an see if I have to take that toy away. Hopefully not as it is a Hasbro SW figure. I think a Batmodile for a Darth Vader Black astromech droid is a good deal.

Or checking their sources to make sure that they haven't been making the same mistakes!  I have a feeling that we haven't seen anything yet!

Just checking on MSN that this isn't over yet. Not only that but apparently many people including children have become very ill from lead posining and to top it all off local officiles in China fear enforcing the new No  Lead laws because it might hurt local businesses.

Things in China seem to be pretty horrible... I foresee a huge economic crash because of all the tainted/counterfeit/unsafe practices going on with their industry developement.
There was a whole TV documentary on this last month... sickening really... babies dieing of malnutrition from fake formulas... toxic toothpastes... apparently the "Made In China" wordmark needs to be accompanied by a warning label now.

if there ever were to be a recall on SW toys, they'd probably become sought-after collector's items on the aftermarket and their value would increase.

The way I see it is that these big companies are always worried about the bottom line. Where can we get our product made for the cheapest price, simple economics. Here in north America we have something called Quality standards and they are set very high. ( I know I work for a quality department). So they go over seas and see what they can find ( how do you think Wal-Mart keeps in business). I'm sure the initial test on the product are great during the prototype period, but if anyone works in manufacturing you know you always change the product  with or without informing the initial customer. This kind of business practice from what I know is quite common. It's just too bad that us consumers are always the victims. I'll say what I've always said "MADE IN CANADA OR MADE IN NORTH AMERICA". Is what I try to buy although some products are harder to find than others.
