Iran will happen and before Nov 2008.  Everyone knows the UN is a joke.  my feeling is that the Dem's will get in in '08, re-institute the draft in mid '09/  War bonds will be back like they were in WW2.  That will come sometimes in 2010 as the US will need to fund this part of teh war.  a stock note, in Iran does happen, buy GOLD, cause it will skyrocket higher than it is now

as for a collector's dream, this is perfect, as we are heading stateside 1st friday in October  :)

I'm happy and frustrated.

I 'm happy as a collector since I can get goodies for cheap.

As an investor, it's annoying. I bought shares in Apple last Feb. before they skyrocketed. Now, the weak US dollar is sucking away the value of those stocks. The stock has gone up, but the dollar down so the net profit has floated around the same amount (when it should go up). Oh well.

As for the US economy, especially the sub-prime mortgage issue: pretty much everyone is overextended and up to their eyeballs in debt. Also, think of ALL those cradit cards and ALL those people who love to shop, shop, shop and rack the cards to the limit. That has to catch up eventually (which I think it has - the subprime mortgage problem is high-risk borrowers not being able to make payments). It's all gonna come crashing down (or is it already?)

That would just about cover your losses on those Apple shares.   ;)

That would be true if I hadn't sold them at 165 last year. Then they went up to 200 but if I'd held them . . . . ack!

Good for you.  I had a conversation with a friend last Christmas about how much his family had invested in AAPL (@ 20,000) and now that the shares are floating around 90 it just makes me feel sick.  Granted they probably haven't lost much because they didn't buy in at 200 a share, but just to know that one day you have 20,000 and a few weeks later you have 9,000 is just a sick feeling.
