Unable to hook laptop to TV
« on: June 29, 2008, 12:43:04 AM »

I have a radeon x1250 in a new laptop and it has a s-video port, I wanted to plug it into my TV which also has a s-video port, when I do so it says it detects the TV,
I click to enable the TV and a check appears in the box but when I click allow or ok the check box resets itself.
I have tried doing this via control panel and also Catalyst Control Center, and everytime it does the same thing, it says the TV is detected but When I enable it it disables it right away.
Someone please help..

one thing i would try is reboot the system while it is hooked up to the tv.  I have an all in wonder card and it will detect the tv during bootup and start to display on the tv.  when i have more time i'll see if i can find some more info if that doesn't work.

Tried that, I spent over 3 hours yesterday working onit,
The thing is it will say that it has found the TV but when I click on enable or Extend monitor it unchecks itself right away.

Sounds simple but sometimes these things are so obvious they are overlooked. Did you press the display button on your laptop? And check that your tv is set to the right input? I've done this countless times with my laptop on different tv's, it also has an ATI radeon with S-vid out.

I made sure the TV was on the right input aneverything, That is not the problem,

When I right click on the desktop and open display prefs and select settings i says it detects my TV or second display device, I click on enable to enable duel screen, but when Iclick on apply the check box in enable dissapears, so basicaly it is un-enabling itself. This happens everytime.
I am using a brand new Toshiba stelite Laptop with Radeon x1250 graphics card that has an s-video socket.
The machine is running Vista..
