New Star Trek Toys at TRU
« on: April 09, 2009, 03:49:14 PM »

Saw a slew of new stuff for the new movie at my local TRU.  2 different size figs (3 3/4 inch and about 6"), also had phasers, tricorder, communicators.  Plus in boxed stuff there was the enterprise itself ($50), a transporter playset and a bridge playset.

Saw the latest full trailer (a good 3 mins long) last night.  I'm actually very excited about this movie.

I saw the transporter set today but nothing else. I won't be getting any of this stuff, but it's kinda cool to see. Was everything you saw from the new movie? I saw a classic series phaser at a TRU a week or 2 ago. I'm just curious if they'll be having any other classic stuff at retail, particularly the communicator or tricorder.

It was all new stuff.  I don't know if any of the classic will be at reg retail or just collector shops, but I'm sure it'll be around.

Thanks fishfan. I was surprised to see a classic phaser on the shelf that one time. I had only ever heard of them being available through collector shops before. Hopefully the new movie will allow for that more often.

Went into my local TRU and yes they have these in but honestly 39.99 for a kirk and display screen is wayyy too much and the the galaxy figures did not have any pieces of the bridge.

What's the deal with the Canadian figs not including the bridge station pieces? Again, the Canuck collector gets royally screwed. Kinda makes getting the bridge set utterly pointless..... :shakehead:

I saw a ton of Star Trek stuff at Walmart today.  I'm not a fan so I didn't pay much attention to them but I noticed Playmates still makes them.  Playmates did a great job with their Simpsons figures but most of their other lines weren't very good.

No bridge pieces = No Sale IMO.

Poor work by the company's distribution.

I thought having a bridge setup with all the stations, and characters at their posts woulda been a neat little retro thing for the office....The figures as they are? Maybe if they dumped them in a clearance bin for $1 a piece....

I agree. I was originally going to get the whole crew + bridge playset... but after finding out they don't come with bridge pieces...  :shakehead:  :sad0064:  :mad0137:  >:(

I know I won't be able to resist not getting any of them at all so I've decided to just get my favorite few only... unless there's a sale.

I saw the bridge set and read on the box about the additional peices being packed in with figures. I saw the figures in the store and saw no bridge pieces. Confusion set it... then I figured maybe there's some deluxe figures that just weren't on the shelf yet. But if this is not the case, and Canadian releases aren't getting the bridge pieces... that's just WOW! That's a HUGE ommission, especially since it advertizes it right on the bridge box!!

I wasn't going to get these anyways, but man, they're going to lose the entire collector market on that one. They probably don't care though, as long as kids/parents buy, and usually they don't know the difference. Sad. I wonder if stores will get any returns after people buy some finding out a piece is missing.

i think the bridge playset comes with the screen, two side data panels, captains chair and the centre consol for weapons and helm control.  It's all the other stations around the outside perimeter that are supposed to be packed in with the 3 3/4" figs.  Obviously they were supposed to be packed in cause all of those figs have huge spaces under them.

Bad merchandising/marketing by Playmates on this one.
