Star Wars sale at TRU
« on: May 28, 2009, 03:08:58 PM »

Just got a copy of the new flyer and ALL Star Wars figs and playsets (and everything inbetween by the looks of it) is on sale starting tomorrow, Friday, at 30% off.

It shows the helmet and transformers crossover but states figs and playsets.  I'm assuming the clearance stuff isn't included as that seems the norm at TRU

Gee I wonder if  they will actually have new 3.75" figures on the pegs this time or will it just be empty pegs like last time.

Sounds familiar.  I think they're desperately hoping to flush the keychains out of the system. :mad0218:

Neither!  See my Ontario report... they're filling it up with Repaint wave goodness!

EDIT: BTW I was being sarcastic when I said "goodness"  :)

It makes sense to have a big sale now - I believe the line is resetting to the new cards in August so they no doubt want to get rid of the Legacy packaging as much as possible (nevermind the fact they still have stuff from Saga2 and TAC on the pegs).   Does have me worried if we'll see much of the TESB wave in Canada given how long it took to even see ANH trickle out so far!  Hell, the US have gotten a chance to get a BaD "TC-14" droid even squeezed in as a bonus this past month :(

I did do my part and bought a Gragra today... and a yellow Naboo trooper last week.   Hated going there and constantly leaving empty handed with no new spacetroopers, so maybe that's TRU's strategy ;)

Hasbro's been vocal about the lackluster Legacy line so I can understand if they cut back on the quantities but where the heck is the "My Gosh! The Clone Wars is doing so much better by comparison!" wave 5 stock?

I saw those. Are they just glorified marbles? Man, $5.99 for a marble... :~/~:

I also saw a bunch of pegs filled with clone wars figures. Remnants of a case of the legacy repaint wave.  :shakehead: No sign of any new ANH wave. I'm beginning to think it's hopeless for it and the ESB wave. The quantities are so limited there's almost no point in even carrying them.

Marbles?  Man they must think SW geeks will buy just about anything :D

I went in this morning to double check no new cases were put out (nope, other than I saw one Goldie on the pegs this time).  Saw the TRU exclusive eps2 Jedi starfighter with hyperspace ring for only $28 and immediately purchased it!  Oddly enough I put off buying it for so long because I wasn't that interested in the ring itself, more for the correctly painted R4 and improved cockpit and didn't want to pay a huge premium for the ring.   This is a great ship for under $30 altogether, glad I finally got one!

Didn't really see anything else that was a super deal, figures are $7, keychains I think were $9, Evos are still $15... those ridiculously overpriced CW vehicle+figures are down to some more reasonable price but meh.

I picked up the Hailfire Droid with Grievous and V-Wing Fighter with Clone pilot 'cause I'm a sucker and it was easier to swallow at $35 each.

Also got a couple of clones to open and as well as doing my bit for the TSC purge by buying Moff Jerjerrod to open as well.  Couldn't bring myself to drop a mustard trooper into my basket though...
