Good job Swamp Trooper. There is just something about an Endor diorama that is just pure awesomeness.

Historical Diorama Contest Entries - Come see the Hall of Fame!
« Reply #19 on: November 25, 2009, 09:43:57 AM »

Hey,
So It's finally done
A little back story..A couple years back I had bought my nephew a bunch of EpIII clones, battle droids and a gunship. He had since added to his collection. All figures are now on permanent loan.
In the end I put so much work into it that I wanted the display to be permanent. After much brainstorming on possible scenes/backgrounds I decided to make the shelves themselves the actual battle ground. So I present the Battle for the Shelves.
Things to look for:
-Grievous has cut a clone in two as he makes his escape.
-The bazooka clone, with one shot, has obliterated a super battle droid and cut a red droid in two. The pieces of the super battle droid are actually suspended  3-4 inches off/in front of the shelf.
-The Republic has taken the Top Shelf (banner inspired by ancient Rome and the Iwo Jima photo.) They are sending reinforcements down.
-The clone to the right of Kenobi just barely makes the leap to the shelf.
Kenobi deflecting shot that would have killed clone behind him.
-Battle droid's flying head.
-Numerous customs.
Sorry for rambling but these were the little details I was most pleased with.

Historical Diorama Contest Entries - Come see the Hall of Fame!
« Reply #25 on: November 27, 2009, 11:12:27 PM »

Hi all, well here is my entry into the contest. I call this piece " I Love You.......I Know" It is a reproduction of my favourite scene from my favourite movie. This scene is perfect for me. It shows how evil Darth Vader is, how bada$$ Boba Fett is and how darn cool Han Solo is. One of the biggest challenges I had with it was getting the lighting just right. You can believe me when I say it took LOTS of tweaking to get it just right. Add a little steam from my sons "Thomas The Tank Engine" humidifier and Viola! instant diorama!

I personally really like the way the last one turned out because it shows the work I put into the ceiling detail. I am very happy with the way it all turned out. Comments are welcome!

Didn't you just win Hasbro's Star Wars Diorama contest?  ;)

Seriously though, that is one awesome diorama and I'd love to know how you put it together....

It's one of my favourite scenes (the music still sends shivers down my spine) and definitely my favourite movie.

Diorama Contest Entry: "OH NO.....THE RANCOR!!!"
« Reply #29 on: November 28, 2009, 07:49:47 AM »

Up for consideration is my ROTJ piece from Jabba's palace. Pretty basic construction: chiefly used styrene foam insulation as the medium, tile grout, some plastic/some homemade skulls/bones, cardboard, paint and lots of carving! The Rancor/Gamorean Guard 'victim' is the ERTL vinyl model kit I constructed/painted several years ago (I always imagined doing a Dio with this Rancor). Luke's from Saga '04. Thanks for lookin'!!  :happy0025:
