Sorry, excuse my ignorance, but there are 2 versions of this vehicle?  How does one tell the difference?

There is one version but it has accessories to set it up different ways.

Ah, thank you.  I didn't want to end up buying one version just to find out there's a better one.

Of course there is an exclusive vintage packaging version coming out but the vehicle is the same.

Yeah, I knew about the package variant, but that's going in the recycling anyway.  I would have bought one today, but the particular TRU I went to didn't have anything new, and Wal-Mart only had the Republic ship and Anakin's ship.

Sweet review by the way, Wow this is an awesome speeder, Although  I never had a chance to pick up any of the older snow speeders to compare it to. Luke and dack look awesome and they even included a hole for lukes graple launcher which was a nice touch. And theres even a little plug at the back to detach the cable! If I had the space I would pick up another one ( If I could find one too) so those two hoth speeder pilots from the legacy evolutions pack have a sweet ride, but knowing hasbro im sure they'll release a repaint down the road. I wouldnt mind seeing an sandspeeder like the titanium line.

I finally got my hands on this ship. And I must say it is amazing! I wasn't too impressed with it, until I had it in my hands. The amount of detail that they put into this thing is very cool. Like the padding on the roof of the cockpit. Very nice! I think it is my new favorite ship from the starfighter line. And I would certainly pick up another if they come out with a repaint. Like mista said, knowing Hasbro, they probably will.

Wo, that really is a great paint job. Makes it look like a complete different ship.
