The ruddy feet are impossible to get off either!

I have decided I am gonna return this thing. Not sure where the receipt went - so I may have to bring it back to Wally and just get the credit on a GC. IMO this is the only way I can get the message across to Hasblow that modifying a toy for a non-english market is not cool - especially when it's at a price point like this thing was!  :mad0177:

I think Jayson from Yakface.com uploaded a video on how to remove the legs from the ATAT

Here is a link to his post:

I have taken the legs off - the best way I found, was to turn it upside down, put your foot on the belly, and pull - sounds crazy, but you need decent leverege.  When I tried it without, when it finally came loose, I hit myself in the eye! :speechless-smiley-004:

The vintage box is sooooo nice. I haven't opened it yet, but I'm already enjoying this purchase. It just looks WOW!

Just curious, but has anyone tried detaching the head section after first attachment? At some point I know I will have to store it or move it, so I would like to have the head section come off again, but I can't seem to get it off using minimal force. I remember not really seeing any lip feature that would snap it in place, only guides, but it did "snap" after attaching, so where was the attachment exactly?  If anyone has gotten the head section off again or knows how, I'd love to know ;)   BTW, contrary to what the video description of detaching the legs said, the feet CAN be removed from the legs! look under them and you will see a self tapping philips head screw, unscrew that and the darker colored cup will come off, freeing the foot, then you simply screw the cup back in place  :)`

Yes. To remove the head section after installing it you have to unscrew the bottom of the AT-AT. There are two pressure pins that clamp onto the post that is connected to the head section and you need to pry them back enough to get them over the lip of the post. I slipped thin cardboard between the clamps and the post and was able to pull the two sections apart. I've since taped the thin cardboard to the post for easy removal at my convenience.

Thanks Hellboy, I will have to try to remember that whenever I decide to detach it. Good to know it IS possible!

I finally opened mine up this weekend. And this thing is amazing! I knew it was going to be big, but I never realized just how big it is. The handle on the neck that moves the head is a great feature. Like von reinhardt said, this destroys all other versions. My 3 year old son just loves this thing too. He has been going crazy since he saw it in the Wishbook. He keeps telling me, "Dad, this big Walker is great." And keeps shooting the Snowspeeder's missiles at it. I am glad that it doesn't have any flaws in it, like the BMF's landing gear or the AT-TE's legs. The AT-AT stands up pretty good to some crazy play time. I am a little worried about the rubber neck though. I just have a feeling we could have some problems down the road with that. All in all this beast is just simply amazing. I can't wait to see future dioramas featuring it. Very cool.

Scored one of the regular boxed versions for $80 + tax last week in Michigan ($90 Canadian).
