clothes, costumes and props
« on: August 18, 2010, 12:31:23 PM »

figured i'd make a thread where i could share some of my stuff, not that anyone would be particularly interested, haha :P

need to get pictures of my costume i had from a convention a few months ago (couldn't find any of the pics anyone took online) so to start things off, here's my current project~

link
to make it, i took the blue blade from one of the cheap, retractable lightsabers, cut out a slot in the tip of it, and built the key part out of lego (still need to sand it down some, or sculpt over it)
the hilt is the "ultimate lightsaber kit" one, and the guard piece (still the rough part, the finished piece will be made of wood) was drawn out and cut from foamcore. for the keychain, i'm going to use one of the TAC coins with the rebel insignia on it

for anyone who has no idea what this is, it's a keyblade from the squre-enix Kingdom Hearts series. brief explanation, kingdom hearts is basically a crossover of final fantasy and disney, with a lot of original story thrown in. you travel from world to world (each world being a separate movie, like Olympus for hercules, etc) for each world, you usually gain a keychain, which alters your keyblade in stats and appearances. so, this is my design of what a star wars themed keyblade would look like :)

haha, thanks!
it may be a while, as i'm having a hard time with the guard, and considering ditching it entirely XP
in the meantime, here's another project i've been working on, again, kingdom hearts related  :tongue0024:

eventually i'll post pics of my painted clone helmet and blaster too, but they've been stuck in the back of my closet for now  :kar:

Hi Karen!

Keyblade looks great! How did you attach the blue pieces to the curtain rod? Glue?

The leather is a nice touch  :)`

cut slots into the side of the poles, glued them in, and then used body fill for cars to fill in the rest and sand it all down :)

not to bump a dead thread, but i thought i might throw a couple updates from over this past year in here :P

moar keyblades, expcept all these save the blue one are made of insulation foam, making them very lightweight to carry and swing around. i'll actually finish the black and white ones...eventually...

Neat-o. Played a fair bit of Final Fantasy over the years - notsomuch lately mind you - but never quite got around to Kingdon Hearts. Maybe once I retire I'll have time, I've heard nothing but good things.
