The Changing of the Guard
« on: November 06, 2010, 09:05:36 AM »

I just came across these figures on eBay being sold as a pair.  I'd never heard of this type of thing before, where star wars molds were used for other figure lines.  Does anyone know if this was a common practice or if this was a one time deal?  I knew hasbro(kenner) likes to repackage, re-use, and re-sell but i didn't know it went this far.

I wonder if Michael Mcshane (a.k.a. Friar Tuck) knew about this and was complimented by the fact that the toy builders sat around one day and one of them said,

"Hey!  You know who that guy totally reminds me of...."

The Sherwood forest and Battle Wagon from that Robin Hood set also borrowed from Star Wars:

I would love to see those displays in real life - I don't recall ever seeing the Robin Hood toys or the Real West toys anywhere - I sure didn't have them & don't remember any of my friends having them (mind you, I was 20 in 1992 when the Robin Hood stuff came out, so that's a stretch anyhow).
