Star Wars Lightsaber Toys
« on: February 22, 2011, 01:23:28 AM »

I noticed that there lots of those toy lightsabers in stores and there have been many over the years. When I was a kid they were always fun play and to  recreate our favorite duels from the movies. I also discovered that many had subtle differences in quality and such. I also thought that it may make an interesting topic as well.

I've been meaning to pick a couple of the Force FX ones as well. Probably the Vader to start, but I'll have to get a Luke version to go along with it. Can't have a lightsaber duel by myself.  :)

On that note, I just got confirmation that my eFx sandtrooper helmet was shipped out this morning. It'll actually be my first 1:1 prop collectible.

Always wanted the Luke's Force FX one. I should try and find one at some point.

Hasbro is creating a low-end, child-friendly (shorter blade, plastic hilt) Force FX lightsaber for release this fall I believe. Supposed to be in the $30 range.

Today's plastic lightsabers (the 10$ish ones) are more durable than the ones made in 97'. The plastic might not be clear, but it's thinker and as better quality. The handles are more accurate (while not 100%, they are still better than what I had before)

Those Force FX one are really great. I got 2 on kijiji a few year ago. All both mint. For 40$ each. just saying that 179.99 is a bit expensive for those things.

BTW, watch out for those kid sized force fx lightsabers. Those thing will break after a few hours, even if they seem to look great.

I've also come to notice that about the "cheap" lightsabers you get in Walmart. Those things last forever! I still have my original Qui Gon Jinn one from when PM came out and I still battle with it with my younger brother and not once have I bent it. Although it definately shows it's use, but I like that. It gives it character. The electronic ones are nice and all but they break after a while and if you battle hard with them then they won't last to long, espcially the Darth Maul ones. I think I've broken three of them through the years. I also cut a Darth Vader and Count Dooku sabers in half as well. Lets just say I don't exactly battle with them anymore...
