TVC Wave 6 Weequay - aka WEAKway :(
« on: March 11, 2011, 06:52:28 PM »

Hi gang, got my Weequay from overseas (via an ebay deal) today. I was really excited to get this figure out of the packing & have a look....

man am I disappointed.  :(

The first impression is one of real cheapness in materials - it just feels very rubbery & soft - to the point where I was wondering if this figure might be some dollar-store knock off... but then I thought why would they? Without further delay I started to loosen up the joints. The hands, arms, legs all worked as intended, letting go with a minor bit of pressure. Then I tried the waist - and the figure did its best Darth Maul impression - I now have one Weequay in 2 nearly equal parts. In all my years of collecting, I guess I'm lucky inasmuch as this is the first figure I have ever broken trying to free up an articulation point - but it's hard to see the positive in this right now.

PLEASE be careful when you get your hands on this guy - don't go overboard trying to get that waist joint to loosen up for you. It won't work out well.  :speechless-smiley-004:

Sorry to hear that mate! It's always super frustrating to finally get a new figure only to have it fall apart in your hands.

Just out of curiosity, did you buy this figure from ebay member tunghori? If so, it might be a factory issue, as I found out that this member gets the factory rejects and sells 'em on ebay...

It was, yep. In all I have heard about Tunhori, I have never heard until now that he sells rejects. Funny you should mention it as the some of the pieces on the R2 (drink serving version) don't really fit all that well either - now it makes more sense.

Ha! Well, the holsters on my CW aurra sing has one leg backwards... Maybe that's why the start price on some of his stuff is so cheap.
  :tongue0024:

Are the shoulders super big on this guy? I have been reading that people say therea bit puffy.

Yeah, the whole figure has a "too big" feel to it. His head is too big, shoulders very big, just big overall. I'm going to wait & grab a carded one off ebay just so I have the final version - but the one I got did not impress me in the least.

I just got my Weequay from Tunghori and it was in fine condition. The shoulders are a little puffy, but overall, seems proportionate.

There seems to be a "hit and miss" with his figures. I guess jjreason and I had the odds against us.

My calculator says .2 percent negative, but someone might want to check my math!

I have looked into this before as I was also unsure. There are the odd negative comment due to similar issues as reported by jjreason, but the majority are OK. I think these types of incidents happen but are few in number. Basically you take the risk of getting a very defected figure, but most are OK and if you want the figures & prices that Tunghori offers you have to take that into account. Personally I think I would only buy troop builder 5 packs from him, if there is a defect one in the bunch it is not such a big deal.
