Sideshow Commander Bly
« on: January 17, 2013, 09:20:50 AM »

Hi Guys,

I need some help here

I recently traded a bunch of of 3 3/4 star wars stuff for the 1/6th scale Sideshow Commander Bly.  I'd been thinking about getting into sideshow for a while and this was the perfect opportunity.  I know very little about sideshow stuff, just that their stuff is really cool looking.  The Bly I got was perfectly sealed and clearly had never been opened.  The skirt on Commander Bly has oil stains on it...like someone ate some french fries and cleaned their mouth with his skirt.  Can anyone tell me if this is in fact what its suppose to look like (dirty felucia-like mess) or if his skirt is suppose to be pristine-looking?  Based on the photos I've seen on rebelscum, the skirt looks pristine.  However looking on JTA, I've noticed certain photos where there could be a ''dirty'' look to the cloth.

I was initially thinking some chemical for the plastic parts may have leaked into the fabric...but that seems unlikely...

Can anyone help me out? Does yours have a dirty look to it?

Thanks

Mine have slight "oil-kind-of" stains on the skirt too. I've never realized that before you mentioned it. It doesn't look that bad, but it would be interesting to know if it was intended or not. As you said, maybe they were indeed supposed to be there...but they can be caused by a chemical reaction or oil leaking from the plastic. Oil leakings were repported to happen by collectors on a Hot Toys "Bale" Batman (don't remember which) and with the Sideshow AOTC white clone...so who knows?

Anyone knows?

Ok, looks like it's part of the original design. Although mine are pretty light compared to those on that official pic :

Thanks for the info.  I feel better about the fact the mine isn't damaged or anything!

Just noticed this thread, and ran to check mine out. Yes it definitely has the same worn dirty oil stain look, but much lighter than the production pic.

I'd still like to get my hands on the GG Animated Boba Fett with Han in Carbonite statue if I could get it at a reasonable price. I don't have much room for statues but that piece would certainly complete my GG collection.
