Medicom Darth Vader v2.0
« on: July 11, 2013, 08:18:34 PM »

So I finally waded into the premium figure/ statue line. Yes I do have the awesome GG Slave Leia from a few years back but that was a one off and not really a start to collecting a line. After a lot of trolling and comparing pics and reviews online I caved and bought the Medicom Darth Vader RAH 2.0 on ebay for $300. I must say from everything seen and read this figure looks awesome. Can't wait for him to arrive and start my Medicom collection.

I was hoping you guys/gals would share your experiences with these types of pieces. I'd be interested to hear what your favs are. I'm looking forward to (wallet permitting) getting a couple of Stormtroopers, Boba Fett and Darth Maul, then maybe moving to other licences. I did a lot of back and forth between Medicom and sideshow but ultimately decided I like the look of the medico better.

Medicom Fett's are still pricey - I'd suggest the ESB version if you grab one.

Medicom Stormies are super hard to find these days and also are pricey - the Sandtroopers seem to be in better supply due to different paldron colors being available, and as a result are usually a little less expensive.

Definetly get the Maul 2.0 if you plan on getting a Medicom version of the character - the light up saber is stellar.

Enterbay has done head sculpts for Medicom for a ANH Luke ( currently on sale @ Sideshow for 224.99) which if customized with Sideshows 1/6th clothing makes for a great piece. The Enterbay ROTJ Han I dont think is worth the 334.99 but the head sculpt looks to be much better then the original ANH Han Medicom issued a few years ago.

If your looking to start/stick with a line - i'd suggest Hot Toys. The quality and accuracy of their pieces are second to none. I've seen the Bespin Luke in Northern Solo's collection and its out of this world - and comes with 2 figures and display for just over 300.

Sideshow is picking up their game in the 1/6th realm - the latest Vader looks great, and has some great details but isnt in scale with the Medicom line.

I would love a Hot Toys Hoth Han - we'll have to see what they decide to do for the 2nd figure (unless they've already decided & I'm not in the loop).

Well received my Vader this week and it is pretty awesome. I'm totally happy with it and will be sticking with this line going forward. Trying to decide on the next one whether it will be the Fett or Stormtroopers (gotta get 2) next. The original Maul looks sick, didn't realize there was a 2.0 I'll definitely have to check that out. Gonna pass on the heroes for now though I agree the bespin luke is very tempting. when they make a white gown leia and chewie then I'll start on the heroes collection. Need to keep the fab 4 together you know. With the scale of these I gotta make room for them in my star wars room. Might be time to start clearing out unleashed figs....sigh.

Dont hold your breath on a Leia and Chewie... they have Tie Fighter Pilots as their latest release. Medicom seems to stay away from the majors and nothing from SDCC. The Royal Guard figs are solid - and Maul with the light up is the only way to go. Even the Anakin is pretty solid ( prefer it over the 1/4 scale Premium Format stuff from SSC).

And JJ - Hot Toys needs to do an ESB Vader to go with the Luke id say.
