Incase anyone here is affected and hasn't yet heard...
« on: December 14, 2013, 12:33:33 PM »

Over the past week or so I have been following a thread on and it's been quite an interesting read.  It started off with a year old thread being re-opened by a new member to the site who turns out to be a very long time collector/dealer/convention organizer ACE a.k.a. Jason Joiner.  While talking to different members on the site Jason ended up mentioning in passing an old deal that fell through for him where he was going to buy a lot of 25 000 items including original vintage cardbacks, original vintage bubbles, loose figures and MOC factory sealed figures.  It turns out that the person that Jason said ended up buying those items is a well known U.K. dealer of MOC currently, Toytoni, and the implications are that he is forging them and carding them up as he goes.  The thread is quite long now and it takes a while to get through but it is quite interesting.  The action starts on page 6,

I'm not sure if you need to be a member to view the thread or not.

Not ALL MOC are in question and as of now there is no definative proof that the allegations are true but there is a lot of circumstancial evidence that is piling up as time goes on.  The German GM 45 backs of a certain style and different Palitoy are in question as well.  As of now it doesn't look like any Kenner product is involved.  If this is proven to be true it will not only affect the market of those particular cardbacks but it will also tarnish the reputation of the AFA and UKG since lots and lots of Toni's cards have been sent there and passed with flying colours.  If they can't tell the diffence between real and fake than how much of an Authority are they?

And on the flip side of that coin - if they can't claim to be an authority, who can??? The value of the true examples of those toys will likely never be realized if no one can tell a real one from a fake.  :mad0218:
