New area to discuss the Rebels 5 POA line!
« on: July 23, 2014, 04:10:53 PM »

Enjoy! I'm sure this move to 5POA by Hasbro is here to stay - at least for now.  ;)  Let's see how they make out with this line as it grows out of the ashes of the Saga Legends & Missions Series.

So far I like what I am seeing.  5POA is nothing new - new product always starts off this way.

Interesting they have reverted to this - with so few articulated 3.75" figures on the horizon, I believe they're phasing them out entirely in favor of the 6". My money currently is on the EpVII 3.75" stuff being 5POA right from day 1, and the 6" stuff will be articulated.

That's what the industry standard was at the time. POTF2 figures were all 5POA, moving into EpI we didn't know or expect any different. 5POA continued through POTJ which followed EpI. For AOTC they brought out a lot of figures with (absurd) action poses & action features - these changes weren't too well received either. The first Super Poseable figure we ever got was a Clonetrooper, part of the original Clone Wars line of realistic figures based on the original short cartoons. After the explosion of excitement following the release of that figure, Hasbro took their cue and really went all out on articulating the regular figures starting with the ROTS line in 2005. At that point, super poseable became the line standard - and it's hard to regress from there after nearly 10 years of seeing the figures come out this way.

Phantom Menace started out 5POA I am pretty sure.

I re-started collecting Star Wars figures when TPM came out. Walked into the store in New York and was in utter disbelief that in the decades that lapsed from my Kenner SW figures, that action figures were STILL 5POA.  I literally laughed at the absurdity that not a single improvement had occurred during my teen and university years.

Of course at the rate things are going, some other adult will re-start collecting SW again with episode 7, walk into their TRU and find eps 7 5POA figures waiting for him too.  "Super articu-what?  What's that?"
