Slave I (75060)
« on: April 23, 2015, 11:14:13 PM »

I just stumbled across this set while browsing Walmart.ca.  I have no idea if it's brand new or a couple years old but it looks pretty cool, I may have to figure out a way to round up the funds to add this set to my collection.

They also have the Ewok Village, Sandcrawler, Red 5 XWing and even the Death Star all in-stock.

Hi Thirdfloor,

Its a 2015 set...one of 2 UCS sets they are releasing this year. I believe it was released in January.  I saw one built at the local Lego store yesterday, its quite big. Similar in size to the Sandcrawler, but fewer pieces.

The next UCS set is the TIE Fighter which they are releasing May 2nd weekend for May the 4th festivities.

Thanks for that bit of info on the set.  It looks like it would be fairly large given the comparison in size to the mini-figs in the picture.  I was fairly sure that it was a newer set but I don't follow lego releases or history with the same attention as I have for the hasbro figures.  I do have a pretty decent collection of sets but a lot of them were picked up on clearance or given to me as gifts.

I saw both the new Slave I and Tie Fighter at the Lego Store. They are really nice. Very pricey but really nice. I have the cheaper versions of both these ships so I can't see me buying them unless I hit the Lottery.

I'm lucky that my birthday always falls about a week after the May the 4th festivities. Every year, my wife takes me to the Lego store to buy me a set for my birthday which gets me the mini figure giveaway, and she then takes me to the latest marvel movie in the theater...this year, it's UCS Slave I, Admiral Yularen, and Avengers: Age of Ultron!

I'll let you guys know how the build goes! I'm very excited about this set since I didn't get the one that was out in 2008/09!

As for the TIE fighter, I saw it...but it didn't have the same effect one me.  Like you Hellboy, I already have a TIE fighter from 2012 and I'm pretty happy with that one.

I myself am waiting for an UCS AT-AT...

I still regret never buying the Super Star Destroyer... it was so pricey and after a few years of humming and hawing it was gone when I tried to track it down. Maybe they will do a UCS version of it and I can live in it.

The version they released a few years ago was in fact a UCS...

This was one of the first lego kits I got and it is very, very nice.
